Giannis wants to win now, what's your offer to get him on a real contender?

I say this in every trade Giannis thread.

Orlando Magic.

Start with Banchero - and add. But I am not sure at this stage how much Magic have to add in value. Yes Giannis is better player, but we are talking trade value.

+Giannis stays in weak East.
+Plays in Florida - all the advantages of that.
+Wagner and Bane fit Giannis game like a glove.
+After including Banchero in trade, Magic don’t have to empty the clip for Giannis. So, another all-in trade to upgrade around Giannis is possible. Not many teams can say that.

Interesting I remember Magic fans scoffing at Paolo, it’s refreshing to see a realistic fan. To get someone like Giannis you can’t be taking your 1st option off the table

That’s a trade worth reflecting on for the Bucks

This is kind of unfair because Giannis for most teams best player is a great trade. If Giannis is getting to pick then find a way to OKC with Shai. They already are pretty far ahead and would be the ultimate ring chaser move.

If Banchero balls out this season - he could be off the table. Something to monitor.

And that would still be a lot better than a poop platter of Scottie Barnes and late 1sts

It's okay to admit you're in love with him.

Portland controls some of the Bucks future picks, which could be interesting to the Bucks. However, I don't think Portland is a contender after trading for Giannis. Bucks probably ask for most if not all of their young, talented players.

Would be ironic to have a Giannis/Dame reunion though.

POR is not even guaranteed to be a playoff team.

Or he could have another underwhelming season and be viewed as a bad contract. I think that’s more likely tbh

If I’m the Magic I would have done this trade yesterday. They’re built to win right now and Giannis is 10x the player Banchero is. They’d be the clear favorite in the East.

To flip the question: What moves could the Bucks make to put a contender around him?

Giannis best chance at contention is walking into the Lakers cap space in 2027. There's no trade in which he's better off. Maybe to OKC

I agree. I think that Magic roster lead by Giannis is super exciting favorite in the East. The roster fits perfectly with Giannis.

Magic fans argue trading for Giannis shortens their timeline. But playing for chips and even getting just one - to me - makes it totally worth it.

Depending on the Banchero+ and what the plus is required to get Giannis - I would do the deal.

Who is starting over Kuzma? And if you need to trade him that means he’s a bad contract and you have one of the worst draft assets (and young player) bases to try and make an upgrade. If Kuzma can’t be a “solid” starting level player that will make your 1-3 even worse.

I can’t see how you keep up your 3pt shooting considering you lost Dame, who is one of the best 3pt shooters ever. How are you making up that volume (and shot difficulty)?

Who are you getting secondary playmaking from? KPJ and Anthony? Those are some of the worst secondary playmaking options in the league.

There’s no way Giannis can carry this team to contender level. Outside of Giannis and Turner I don’t know if they even have another clear cut starting level player (especially if Kuzma is going to continue to struggle).

Dame was a part of the 3 pt shooting but guys like Trent AJ Green Portis Turner KPJ Rollins are all very good to great 3 pt shooters. And are best lineup was a 3 guard lineup with Giannis now we have Turner to replace Lopez who was picked on for being immobile.
This team is younger and more athletic than last years team. I bet this team wins 50 gms and if kuzma can’t play the 3 with great defense he won’t play much and will be traded at deadline he has an expiring contract no need to add anything to him.

Who is generating these 3’s for these guys when Giannis isn’t on the floor? These are guys that need to be set up and Cole Anthony ain’t going to cut it.

If Kuzma can’t play who is playing the 3? Because you clearly don’t have a starting level 3 waiting in the wings to take his spot.

Why do multiple Bucks fans think Kuzma is expiring? He’s owed $20.3m in ‘26/27. If Kuzma is so bad he can’t even start you’re going to have to pay to get off of him. Or take on an even worse, longer contract.

KPJ will be the starting pg he will run the offense when Giannis is off the floor. I expect a big leap from Rollins who’s a great defender and started at Pg last yr when Dame was out. At the 3 if Kuzma can’t cut it there is prince who lead the league in 3 pt % or Coffey who also is a good 3 pt shooter. I would like to see Livingston win the 3 job in training camp he gives us youth and athleticism but needs to improve his 3 pt shooting. Prince who I am not high on to start would do better playing the 3 instead of the 2 which Doc had him play last yr.

Send him to the Warriors. Draymond + Kuminga + filler for Giannis. Trio of Curry, Butler and Giannis is a win now team.

OKC could trade Holmgren + 3-4 FRPs
HOU could trade Jabri + Thompson + 2-3 FRPs

I hope it's also okay to admit I don't really care.

I don't think either team will be very good this year. Milwaukee better of course, but still pretty meh.

knicksfan974 wrote:Considering Giannis wants to win right now, I'll limit the options to teams with championship odds below 1000: Thunder, Cavs, Nuggets, Knicks.

Thunder: Not sure if they want to break up their championship core for Giannis. They might be better off standing pat and continuing chasing another title with the core they've already got.
Cavs: Would the Cavs be willing to trade Mobley? Other than that don't see what they can offer that would make sense for the Bucks.
Nuggets: Don't see a good fit here with Jokic on the roster.
Knicks: Not sure if/how the salaries would match, but the Knicks could potentially put together a competitive package for Giannis, and probably Giannis would absolutely love playing in MSG.
Mobley needs to be made more of a priority on offense. The Cavs aren't ever going to win anything until they do.

The Cavs need to keep Mitchell and Mobley if they add Giannis. Difficult task to accomplish since the Cavs would need to include additional value to make a trade work.

Thompson isn't on the table.

Houston would offer Sengun plus good picks.
