Agreed about Duhon, and he'd fit in quite well on this team.
I think Diop would be a terrific signing at center, if not Kurt back.
I thought with Barry, he got 1 or 2 more years on the new contract? So I guess he can have options. I could see him retiring or staying and being a deep bench guy.

Patrick Ewing Jr. would look mighty good on you guys. He is athletic, very smart player, good passer and a strong defender. Put him next to Duncan and you have a great combo of size/speed/athletisism.
Brandon Rush would be perfect to replace Bruce Bowen. Terrific shooter from the corner, outstanding defender and fairly athletic.

Hope is a good thing, maybe the best of things. And no good thing ever dies...

Ehh, I think Barnes is one of those players that only thrives in a free-wheeling, Nellie type environment. I could be wrong, but I just don't see him fitting into Pop's system.
That being said, I think he's a decent player - but when I watch him play, I can't help but think he's more of an athlete than a basketball player (if that makes any sense?).
IMO he'd be best to stay exactly where he is.

gonna keep this one brief this time, just dropping off a link:

check out the chillz scouting report. it puts it a lot nicer than i did earlier, but it covers some of my concerns with him. still wouldnt hate having him, just that i dont think its worth our time pursuing him considering we cant offer enough to scare atl away.

My Plan for next season
First off, great game 3 by our Spurs, very well deserved, it's not over yet! Let's go Spurs!
Now, onto another topic, bringing in next year i threw around some ideas and this is what i ended up with..
Sign DIOP with the MLE.
Package Barry & Finely for Mike Miller.
Sign Duhon, should be rather simple, cancer in Chicago.
Bring over Splitter and Ian.
Parker/Duhon
Ginobili/Bowen
Mike Miller/(filler)
Duncan/Ian
Diop/Splitter
It seems like a long shot, but not really when you take into consideration the number of expiring we have.. what do you guys think?

Re: My Plan for next season
this should probably be in the offseason thread.
but that aside, it is a longshot, with a bit of impossible thrown in. diop for the MLE is doable. but you probably cant get duhon as well. both players are going to get more than half the MLE and we dont have the cap space to beat that. ian is already here, and tiago is seeming more and more likely to be here, so those are doable.
getting miller is highly unlikely now though. you cant trade expiring contracts after the season is over because they have already expired. and we dont have the current contracts to make something work. we could try and work some kind of sign and trade, but none of our free agent would be desirable to memphis. plus they arent looking to dump him for nothing, or they would have done it at the deadline when there was a bigger market. we would have to include assets (ian, splitter, future picks) to land miller.

We have already signed Barry and Vaughn. I hope Thomas can return as well...
Splitter is coming over
I don't really think too much of Sanikidze.
Draft... it appears that the logical thing that we will do it take a guy from overseas and let him stay there and mature. Omri Casspi seems to be the guy we have targeted. I hope we don't give him a promise.
I don't think we can trade Bonner. He is a BYC which makes it a nightmare to trade.
I am kinda interested in Gordon but I don't exactly have high hopes of any point guard that will stick. He seems to be a chucker but can lockdown other players.
I don't have any real noteworthy opinion of Richardson...

I think I'll add my two cents regarding this year's offseason.
First of all I'm not too sure as to how well Azubuike would fit in. From what I can gather he's an excellent athlete who can defend, but I question his ability to create offense. While he seems like a nice player he would seem a bit redundant for our team as we already have guys like Bowen and Udoka who fill similar roles.
I think we should look to bring in an experienced gunner who can come in and put some points on the board and wouldnt rely on the big three to set them up, ala finley. Mr Bottom Tooth's suggestion of Jeremy Richardson is interesting as he fits the bill, but wouldn't be a guaranteed contributor. I think someone like Roger Mason Jr would fit the bill if he could come cheap. From what I've read he's become a mature, nice contributor for the Wizards.
As crazy as this may sound a player like Ricky Davis would be great to offset the scoring droughts that this team regularly goes through. Of course he'd be out of our price range. Basically we have enough defensive oriented and offensively limited wings. We need some firepower. Just skimming through the list of free agents now, some names that interest me for this are;
*Ricky Davis
*Kirk Snyder??? - seems to have offensive talent and athleticism
*Bostjan Nachbar
*Fred Jones - I'm not sure what he's become lately, but I love his shooting and athleticism
*Keyon Dooling
*Maurice Evans
*Roger Mason
A player from the group should be easily obtainable should the front office decide to go in that direction. Keyon Dooling would provide some nice tweener offensive creation to go along with good athleticism, relative youth and defensive committment. He's also played well against SA in the past.
Keep in mind many of the options I'm posting will undoubtedly clash from a financial standpoint. It's basically a mix and match.
Free agent point guards are a different matter. I'd like to somehow find a cheap offensive minded point guard to compete with JV here. Keyon Dooling would work here as well actually. Also Carlos Arroyo and particularly Jannero Pargo would be great here. If we could find a player of this style for the LLE I'd be extatic. Basically it's slim pickings out there again. I'd prefer the front office to sign Keyon Dooling and allow him to swing between point and the wings.
Free agent bigs are pretty intriguing this year. I think Diop would be a nice addition but I feel our money should be invested on the wings as we already have some depth coming on board with Splitter. Also the Spurs are high on Mahinmi and Oberto is still alive. One of our immediate goals should be to sign Kurt Thomas to a short term contract. Kwame Brown could be a nice big body inside and hopefully wont fetch the price tag of Diop. We could also take a slight risk and sign Mihm on the cheap and see if he can restablish himself. I'm also a big fan of Theo Ratlif, but I'm not sure if the Front office would look at him if Kurt Thomas was already on board.
Taking a look at the draft I think Mario Chalmers would be nice to look at if we are able to secure a worthwhile pick considering the abdunance of wings in free agency and his potential to backup tony parker.
Brandon Rush has played himself out of our range and I won't go into the wing prospects as someone else has already done an admirable job of doing so. They've made me take a closer look a Courtenay Lee though.
We should avoid picking a big unless it's a complete steal for our pick.
