Jefferson was a good Net but he'll never be more than a 2nd fiddle player...

When you throw in that they have 3 picks in this draft it leads me to believe that we're going to see another trade soon.

agreed....the writing seems to be on the wall...I wouldnt be surprised...

I also just realized that this team now officially doesnt have a single player left from the final's days.
Ahhhh this is a very very sad day.

Hmm...from a business perspective, this was a good trade for the Nets. Chinese market, cutting costs...

However, from a fan's perspective...it's really hard to see RJ go (I'm more of an RJ fan than VC). Yes, I had stated before that we would be trading our big contracts away to rebuild starting with RJ because of VC's contract. In the end though, any Nets fan had to realize we couldn't go far with this team and with our current financial situation, couldn't build around this team. Still, I'm a bit uneasy about this. Do I think we could've gotten more with RJ? Maybe, but like I said...a team in rebuilding wants two of three here...young talent, expirings, and 1sts. Yes, we finally have direction on what we're going to do, but I'm on the fence on Yi. Call me in six months for an evaluation and another year or two to call this trade great or horrible. Sorry, kind of rambling.

Krstic and Carter are both essentially gone, I'd say. The Nets are clearly in rebuild-mode at this stage.

Krstic possibly. I doubt anyone takes VC's contract right now with the amount of years he still has.

pretty much sums it up...I just see RJ's market value as more...we're banking on potential here...I see Yi's potential/skills...but I also see Wang Zhizhi...again, another possbile trade w. Yi involved or is he really part of our future...

note: my comparison is just that...Yi obviously could have twice or 3 times the career of Zhizhi...

It would be silly if you start Yi at the start of your opener. He is yet a starter material. Potential wise, he has nice stroke, is pretty athletic and aggressive on defensive end. His body is too skinny to utilize his skills - that's why he always in fouls trouble. Personally, I think this is a good trade for the Nets if Bobby and Yi can stay healthy because of the cap flex situation.

My worries of him coming off the bench is him being buried back there with Frank coaching much like what he did to Sean Williams. He's played guys like Hassell and Nachbar at the 4. Should he start...well, I'm on the fence on that one too.

There comes a time when you have to say enoughs enough and roll the dice. I'm glad were out there making moves. Nothing ventured nothing gained.

ya It is all about marketing but I think Yi has a chance to turn into a very solid basketball player, he is very skilled, I personally like this trade for the Nets.

If im Boston, i'd be looking to move Ray Allen and a pick for VC. Get Vince in their to play with Pierce and Garnett for 3-4 more years, NJ can get the cap space sooner, or trade him to a contender next year for some prospects.. plus hes a much better locker room presence and knows what it takes to win now.

The Nets won't be looking to trade Carter for Capspace now . They just don't need more Capspace anymore .

One of RJ and Vince was leaving and the RJ is not half the player Vince is . Sorry RJ i love you but you where the odd man out.

That's what I've been thinking...
RJ is good don't get me wrong but c'mon he's like the 3rd option on a very good team.....

One thing unless Vince is still somehow traded he is going to be an All-Star next year . With all the Chinese fans voting he's pretty much a lock .

This is like a bad dream.
WTF Thorn why would you do this?
I was fine with the Harris-Kidd trade even though it broke my heart but this is pure and utter BS.
We're getting NOTHING in return.
Yi will be a bust and WHO THE F IS SIMMONS?

Basically Thorn and Kiki lied to us this entire summer when they said they we're looking to get better now and not enter abscurity mode/full rebuild mode.
They just traded my favourite player and it stings harder than I can imagine.
If this is true Thorn can kiss my shiny metal behind, I know its a harsh thing to say but seriously I am that dissapointed.
Ohhh and dont even think about seeing Vince around here next season if this goes through and I cant really blame him for not wanting to be in a rebuilding team that's gonna rebuild around nothing and just gave away a 20ppg player.
This is just karma for the Vince Carter deal.

Dude don't bash Bobby Simmons. He's been hurt the last 2 years. He deserved the contract he got though. He was great out with the Clippers. He's better than people think. He really isn't that much of a downgrade from RJ.
