Kershaw is the frontrunner for NL Cy Young but Julio Teheran has to be the frontrunner for NL Rookie of the Year, yes ahead of Puig. Teheran has been amazing this year and has been the Ace along with Mike Minor in a very good Atlanta pitching rotation.

Actually, lemme edit this and make this statement instead:

LOL no, he's not even the best rookie pitcher in his own division.

Yea, I forgot all about Harvey my bad. But I'd put Teheran ahead of Puig, 10-6 record with an ERA that might drop to under 3 with the shutout today. He also had an almost no hitter back in June which he took into the 8th inning. Teheran isn't the frontrunner (again forgot about Harvey) but he's ahead of Puig.

Correction: Julio Teheran isn't even the second best rookie pitcher in his own division.

Seriously, what does Jose Fernandez have to do to get some recognition?

Throw consecutive no-hitters? Strike out the side with his eyes closed? Find out who really killed Kennedy?

Yes he is. There's Harvey and then I assume you're talking about Wheeler, and Wheeler isn't better than Teheran

The dude is a quality pitcher but Julio has basically been the ace for the team with the best record in baseball

So we're just going to ignore the fact that Jose Fernandez has been better in just about every statistical category?

Okay, cool.

He's probably better because Teheran's first 3 starts were beyond awful. He bounced back in dominant fashion though and is the ace of a playoff team. The voters do take how good the players' team is into consideration

So you're penalizing Fernandez because Teheran was settling in during his first three starts?

Who said I was penalizing Fernandez? I take nothing away from him I'm just saying that Teheran's stats haven't showed how dominant he's been after those 3 starts.

Penalizing was probably the wrong word choice, but it still bothers me that Teheran gets the nod (granted it's a homer nod from you) because he's pitching on a playoff caliber squad.

If Fernandez had the kind of offense to back up his performances, I'd love to see what his numbers would look like.

You're right, I'm a huge homer and if Teheran wasn't pitching for the Braves then I probably wouldn't be making a case for him right now, but you have to take wins and quality of the team the player is pitching for into consideration because the voters take that into consideration.

I guess I put different emphasis on Rookie of the Year and MVP than others do, because I find that to be the worst reasoning behind who wins these awards.

my vote is going to Schwabby.

hope we do alright facing the guy...we have him either tonight or tomorrow.
how ur team is doing SHOULD NOT have any bearing on whether you win an award.

Yeah Fernandez >>>> Teheran. But Puig still gets my ROY vote.

Fernandez has been better than Teheran (and almost everyone else), but Teheran has been very impressive. Top 10 in ERA now after a rough start to the season.

Fernandez could go the rest of the season without giving up a run and Puig would still win ROY.

It was pretty clear what Dempsters intentions were. He wanted to drill A-Rod from the first pitch, but it took the idiot 4 pitches to do so. What a piece of crap. He shouldn't be playing in the majors with accuracy like that.
