Officiating and Orenga have nothing to do with Spain being the inferior team. You can tell how mentally weak they are with all the flopping and complaining they do.

That was a historical game. I don't really remember another team scoring only 20pts at the half and coming back to win the game. Spain paid for the ineptitude of their coach, as they lost four games in the tournament so far in identical fashion. Fool me once.. Florent Pietrus was huge in the 4th quarter, was everywhere in defense. Grats to France for showing resolve and giving us basketball fans a game to remember.

The final will be great, I am sure of it. You know Parker and co. will give their all as this is prolly the best chance for this genaration to get a gold.

Good treat for the true bball fans with the offseason a couple of weeks away.

It takes a particularly great performance to get past a team like Spain who, on top of being loaded with talent and one of the alltime best European teams ever, will do anything they can to try winning, being the flop and ref manipulating masters that they are.

Good thing Parker was able to do everything by himself for the first half while everybody else was KO, until the other guys showed up in the 2nd half. Tony said he and Collet gave the team a "time to pull your fingers outta your asses" speech at the half, which worked out well apparently.

In the end, we won on defense, with most notably great defensive stops by Batum and Flo Pietrus. Not surprising since it's usually been our major strength. The small ball sequences with Pietrus and Diaw in the front court had the Spanish team lose their game at times.

Huge win, awesome to finally get that Spanish monkey off our backs.

Officiating was terrible as usual, they didn't set a coherent standard for fouls. Flopping was big on both sides. Spain gets called out a lot for it, but aside from Rudy and Navarro, I can't find a solid reason.

And yes, Orenga (and his crew) has been terrible and they should be replaced. I'm really disappointed in Ponsarnau and Díaz, I thought they were great coaches but they've shown nothing in this tournament. When you have the best Center and the best guards, you should find ways to dominate games.

By the way, losing to France isn't an upset, they're a great team and played better tonight, so there's nothing to be ashamed of. Hopefully next summer the Spanish Federation brings a better team to host the World Championships.

I think next WC is Spain's last chance to beat team USA. Everyone will play for Spain bar injury, I can guarantee you that. They're playing at home, nevertheless.

Tony Parker IS JUST THE **** MAN. Dude is here since 13 **** years. He played with some **** ass wack players.

He played in Ukrainia for qualification for eurobasket 2009 with some no name like Stephane Brun that sucks so much he's playing 2nd division level.

Give that man that **** title !!!

Parker is on top of the world right now, or at least 5 French models. I don't even feel bad for him what happened with Miami because he already has 3 rings.

The biggest mistake he ever made was losing Longaria

thats a good riddance

I was thinking about coaching crew, of course everyone will want to play if healthy, but you need a game plan to win, and a great coach to try to stay with team USA, let alone try to beat them. Having Pau, Ibaka and maybe Navarro and Reyes will do wonders in the leadership department, but Pau, Navarro and Reyes are clearly past their primes, so the younger guys must step up to compete against not only team USA, but all the good teams.

Lithuania beat France easily in the 2nd phase, but the game on Sunday will be completely different. Tough to predict, i give Lithuania a slight advantage because of how solid they are defensively.

I don't even have the energy to write much about the game. Happy for Parker to finally manage to overcome the Spaniards, but I had a BIG bet that game is going to end under 146 points (total). 65-65 in regulation (any other result and I obviously win the bet easily, since it's 16 points under total line), then I lose for 1 point AFTER OT.

KILL. ME. NOW.

This was my 2nd biggest bet this year. Biggest was on Spurs to win the championship (that was at the start of the last season, when odds were over 20) ... still pissed about that. :D I'm probably also going to remember it when I'm 95 and dying, like Parker. :D

Not a fun year, to say the least.

For the life of me I can't understand why the Spanish coach keep pairing Calderon and Rodriguez; out of all the back court combination he could have used, that is the worst one and he kept using it and losing games.

A real head-scratcher.

Stop gambling. You won't win in the long-run :D

Also, what's up with Sergio Llull this tournament?

Since a fun night calmed me down:
- Well done, Ukraine, well done.
- Same for France, even though they looked pathetic in the 1st half, exactly the same as vs. Slovenia.
- Lithuania finally playing up to it's potential. Nice to see.
- Parker deserves the gold. I applaud him & Dirk.

Can someone tell if me France beating Spain is a big upset? On paper, the Spanish team still seems better even without Pau playing. Also, I know that Spain has had more success in international competition as of late.

Outside of Parker, and Batum, the rest of the french team either seems not so great or a little old. Kudos to them for winning though. Are France and Spain considered equal teams?
