I see Brown, Rozier, Morris, Yabu and Semi would work, but SaS certainly don’t have five roster spots open. Plus this would empty the bench almost completely. Maybe it would work with a third team involved but I wouldn’t say it’s easy at all..
I'm not sure what's on the C's board, but they've got to send $15.1 mil in salary back to the Spurs. There's no way to do that without sending back Brown and Morris unless they're counting Marcus Smart, and I don't think they can move him without his consent because I believe he's a free agent.
Smart S&T works just fine…... its actually not that heavy a lift
I don't begin to claim to be an expert on the CBA and trade rules. But this is from the Knicks FAQs about free agency and trading. If I understand it correctly, Smart has to agree to the contract before you can trade him. It is my understanding that you can match an offer from a third team, but if you try to trade him to the Spurs if he doesn't wish to play for the Spurs it will become very ugly very quickly. And I suspect Popovich wouldn't take him under those circumstances.
Correct me if I'm wrong.

What is a sign-and-trade? A team is not allowed to sign another teams free agent and then immediately trade him. However, a team is allowed to re-sign their own free agent and immediately trade him to another team by adding a clause to the contract making it invalid if the player is not traded to a specific team within 48 hours. A sign-and-trade contract must be for three years or longer, and a team does not acquire the players Bird rights.
When can free agents officially beginning signing with teams? While teams can negotiate with free agents starting July 1, they can not officially sign a contract until July 8. This is known as the July Moratorium and is when the league reviews the revenue from the previous season and officially sets the salary cap.
