Re: Official Speculation Thread '20-'21 VII: Where do we go from here?
Lowe Post podcast had a good discussion...Bubble was Vuc, Randle, Lavine, VanVleet, Jerami Grant...also was voters willingness to consider Kyrie's annoying behavior against him. I think losing team argument has some validity but, IMO, ASG should reward individual excellence. Nobody's game planning for ANYBODY on ORL but Vuc this season and yet he puts up big numbers every single night.
Lowe said (and his guest agreed) that many of the coaches he's polled hold Vuc in high esteem. That's the vote that matters. Vuc will never get fan votes for his solid, steady, reliable, fundamentally sound awesomeness.

In past losing should be penalized for votes, but this year , it looks like that 10 of 15 teams will have losing record.

Magic, Knicks, Bulls, Raptors, and Pistons (worse record of the 4) all have losing records.

That's just the way it goes. If you don't have a guaranteed deal, you are disposable. That's why some players warn off teams from drafting them in the second round if they aren't going to offer a guaranteed deal. It's better not to be attached to an organization if they aren't giving you some security. The NBA really needs to sort out the two-way contracts so guys aren't getting released just because they get hurt.

Surely they’d have insurance policies in place which would cover the duration of the contract in cases of injury? If the NBA really just left players out in the cold like that (the fringe/journeymen type) then that’s pretty lousy.

In a normal season, the cap of 10-games forces teams to upgrade players to full contracts. It is the 52 games "limit" that is a stark negative to these two-way guys.
BUT: they get a lot of money they would not normally get. And as most two-way players are really just practice squad guys, to make and NBA salary to be a gym-buddy is a job many would agree to take.

NBA should have something like NHL has with the AHL.

We could probably dump Evan and Gordon/Vuc for Griffin and suffer through one year, his player's option and have huge cap relief in 2022, if Pistons are willing to get like top 3 2021 lottery pick

The word is that Cole mentioned on his stream what his actual injury was and the team then felt compelled to come out and say something. For anyone still on the fence about whether or not we have the most incompetent medical staff/FO in the entire league, hopefully, this can convince you.
It can't be understated how poorly run we have been under Weltman.

On top of that they were supposed to be on local radio 96.9 the game this morning and were a no show.
A scoring guard.. never heard of one.

To be fair, Cole knew what's wrong with him, that's why he said, it's just Weltman and Hammond who think they are so smart behind their smoke screens, yet in reality they come off as two complete, incompetent morons.
Weltman in situation with Bamba literally in September said he has no lasting COV19 issues, just to announce in middle of September, days before training camp that Bamba is dealing with Cov19 related issues.
In reality Bamba was cleared to play before bubble and was AGAIN cleared to play after they shut him down in bubble to hide him from critics.
I won't be suprised if in year or two, once they are gone, somebody leaks that during 2019-2021 period something crazy happend in lockerroom and everything that followed was result of it. Like players refusing to play or something like that .Nobody can convice me that nba team can have 9 players hurt at once.

It’s not like it would matter. They give the same bull**** lines over and over expecting fans to actually believe them. They are basically campaigning for their jobs at this point to justify why their inaction and poor drafting haven’t made the team better.

Future salary relief with potentially top 5 pick.
And Griffin is done with Pistons so you know it's aveliable trade option, unlike most stuff fans post.
