Utah gave him a 3 year/$23m offer sheet -- Philly just matched it, so he's off the market I guess.

I'm not all that thrilled about adding a role player at $8M a year anyhow. We need to focus on finding and developing our foundational starters. You can always find depth later in free agency if you can keep your cap sheet clean.

Sure. But one doesn't preclude the other. What is certainly the case, however, is that it's easier to find another Paul Reed than one of those foundational guys who has a shot to be an all-star.

Truth be told, I suppose, an outstanding FO does all the roster-building stuff in parallel.

Dame doesn't have a NTC.

He is also, much, much better than Beal. Portland can wait for a bidding war because one is sure to develop.

Well before the science of the draft evolved to where it is today, I remember wanting Lillard over Beal. Third pick and sixth pick could have been a great trade down.
Tre Johnson is the future of the Wizards.

Again, I have no idea what Troy Weaver is doing and chances are he's probably getting canned, but the Stewart contract is right about what I think Deni should get.

Weaver saved himself with the Ausar pick and the Stewart extension. Detroit is starting to turn it around.

He’s an arrogant and grubby sleazebag owner, but this is a nice little gift to fans.

Wow. Re:the James Harden article. The nba owners with a holdout-killer clause. Any player in the last year of their contract who holds out for more than 30 days cannot sign with any other basketball team ever until their team okays it. Not Big 3. Or Europe. Or China.

I wonder why that was limited to the final year of a contract. I guess leverage in negotiations for extensions etc?

Yeah, but James Harden will just show up and then not play hard. The guy is a total cancer.

Jaylen Brown can't go left.

But he'll be counting his cash with his left hand.

They were between a rock and a hard place. Brown wasn't going to sign for anything less than the max. Boston, who just went all-in by trading for Porzingis, couldn't just let Brown walk.

It's always a difficult scenario. What do you do when a not-quite-max-worthy player demands a max contract?

The KP extension is a head scratcher knowing they have the Brown and Tatum max contracts on the books.

They have to decide what to do with White and Williams, those extensions aren't going to come cheap either.

I do think Brown gets traded the first year Tatum's new money kicks in. It's going to take 1-2 years before we start seeing these mega salaries kick in.

Bronny James had a heart attack at a usc practice. This is the second incoming fresh man to have a heart attack at USC in just around a year. What the **** is the training staff giving these kids.
