Watching a 905 game for first time this year. Man they are terrible. I expected a lot of ball hogging and guards just jacking up shots, but it seems worse than I imagined haha.

Gradey looks alright (so far) today and he isn't forcing it like the rest of his team. His defence is terrible though. JFL and Nowell have no chance on the big team if they always make these type of decisions like today.

So we're batting .250 over the last four seasons. Which isn't the worst I've seen. But this organization has a vaunted scouting staff, and is headed by a former scout. The thing is, Malachi and Gradey were unusual player types to be drafted by the Raptors. We usually like either the long bois or strong, chunky guys like Kyle and Fred.

I'd really be interested in hearing the machinations behind our draft picks before draft day, not the sanitized view we get on Open Gym. Who are Dan and his underlings pushing for? How much is Masai involved? A documentary along the lines of the "ugly girlfriend" scout conference in Moneyball would be funny. Would Bobby, a known cap savant, represent Jonah Hill's numbers nerd character? Masai points at him and he says "He makes his FTs at a rate that's projectable into 3-point shooting from the NBA line."

Yeah, the 905 aren't great and they play a bunch of guys who just never seem to know what the right play is or do the basics like blocking out. In this game though, to be fair, they're playing a team with a bunch of fairly established players. I mean two of their starters, Pinson and Jackson, are 28 years old! That's a little weird for a "development" league.

He's supposed to be more than a shooter, there was a noticeable effort from Matt/Jack/Alvin earlier in the season to make that clear.

His shooting form is weird, it seems like his elbow is tucked in way too much and it limits his wrist mobility. Maybe something else too, but his form definitely has some jank to it. You can see it clearly in how his shots miss that something's not right.

Of course. He has a nose for boards, has good hands for deflections and has the IQ to spot the right passes, but those things don't matter if he's not hitting shots. That's his role and he needs to be nailing that first and foremost before worrying about anything else.

The g league has basically two seasons. If you click on the "season type" you will get a drop down menu. Select "showcase" and you will see the stats for the other 7 games he's played for the 905. But yes, the numbers are not pretty to look at.

and he banked in one of his 3's tonight :lol:
