Meh. I was told this offseason we "shouldn't be drafting for backups" and that this was our last chance to get high upside prospect. Felt like a lot of the fanbase didn't want seniors/guys that didn't immediately look like they'd start here, which is ironic lol

Jaquez plays point quite often for this Heat team, no reason why he couldn't for us. There's a reason why the Heat were ranked one of the best managed teams and ours was ranked as one of the worst.

This trade wasn't some conspiracy - it was just a GM wanting AD bad enough where in most people's eyes he overpaid by a long shot to get him.

Oh yeah ofc he'd fit in well here, but he was already a reach at 18 according to a lot of people and I'm just saying the mocks + how fans treated this "final year of tanking" meant guys like JJJ weren't on their radar at all.. this is a lot of hindsight

skeleton crew vs skeleton crew, game was decided within one possession.
Annoying part is that we lost "good matchup" given Heat had zero guards on their roster aveliable to them.

ESPN's title for a game literally says "rare low scoring game this season". Kind a puts in perspective how shorthanded both teams are.

I was looking forward OKC's game for longest time, literally that was game i was hyped for after 2 weeks of a regular season, and here we go, within 1 day, but i'm no longer looking forwrad

Without Franz we are onedimensional, we need incredible amount of 3 point shooting from players who in general aren't good outside shooters.

Suggs has been great for us, and when you don't have Franz and he is cold (or makes silly fouls) and nobody else from guards steps up, we will always struggle to produce enough points. That's pretty much execlly why most pre season predictions didn't have us in playoffs. Offense.

As for people who blame on injuries, our roster is constructed in fashion where majority of players were drafted, signed or traded for while being injuried, and have fat medical record.

Isaac was resigned injuried.
We got Fultz in first place because he was considered broken.
We got Harris when people thought he is done ( me included).
We got Wendell because he was always hurt.
We drafted Okeke within half of a year of his ACL tear.
Even Cole and Jett had some injuries during college season, prior being drafted.

It is what it is. When everybody are healthy, we are deep team, but most of those players can't go through a season without missing 30-40 games.

The thing is, if you don't play PIstons, Spurs, Hornets, Wizards and to lesser exstend Blazers, there is no easy games to play.

2 weeks ago you would circle Utah's game as "easier" but look at them now, won 8 of last 10, demolished 76ers, Nuggets, Bucks and now apsolutley crushed Raptors.

I do love that Banchero has a "bad game" by putting up star numbers. If Okeke and Fultz had been upgraded by F-Wagner and Isaac, Orlando wins this game in a walk. All I learnt from this game is that health is better than an injury report.

p.s. Orlando's guard rotation needs immediate attention from management. This ain't on coach.

I know Franz is a massive part of this - and so him being out affects it greatly - but im just shocked at how the great off-ball movement and passing game has dried up. It was probably THE hallmark of the winning streak.

Everyone is just standing around and either taking a shot or going ISO. We need to get back to pulling defences out of shape or it's going to be very tough sledding offensively.

Box score thoughts:

Orlando lost the FG% battle and lost the game.

Frankly the reason Orlando lost the game was horrible FT shooting. The Magic was a better rebounding team and had low TOs. Another sub-70% charity-stripe night: that's not ok.

In conclusion: I loved the Magic's defensive box-score numbers and losing a road game to a divisional leading team is not a surprising result.

This is only the 7th game in the whole of the NBA this year were a sub-100 point team won. Orlando should feel good about the defense.

I think Joe is going to be out again. He did turn that ankle again, and it probably blows up today.

Edit: I just checked, and Ingles and Fultz are out. Isaac is back.

Unfortunate loss. The offense never really got going and we didn't do enough on D to really take advantage of the Heat being shorthanded. Good to see Ingles back, he is on a completely different level than anyone else on the team as a playmaker. A shame he got injured again.

I couldn't help but laugh out loud when Dante said that Fultz was very effective tonight when he went to the bench at the end of his minutes. 3 points, 3 assists and 2 turnovers in 17 minutes, such an amazing performance, and he again completely refused to attempt a jump shot or pretend to space the floor. 90.9 ORTG too, which is obviously quite bad. If he is not going to take midrange shots and he is not getting to the basket as well as he used to be and if he is going to be offball on most posessions because Paolo, Ingles or Cole handle the ball instead, why is he even playing? He plays decent defence but Black is significantly better on that end and needs development minutes.

Tentative as **** then had a few good plays. Overall it’s a C grade. He is who he is and that’s all. He can come in 2nd unit and run in transition that’s it. If we get in 1/2 court he’s/we are extremely challenged.

Oh, man. We wasted a C game from Fultz, Heat's lucky to survive. Markelle will probably bring his A game next time. I'm pumped.

didnt get to catch the whole game, but all i want to know is.

wtf is Mosely thinking putting Moe on Bam when we need a defensive stop? The guy has blocked like 1 shot in 28 games and besides taking charges, is easily our worst post defender. I mean come on now. You have to go with Goga there.

That is just a terribly bad coaching decision.

Can't do that mate, that would crowd dunker spot on offense, we got Fultz there. Moe is best fit as he can stretch the floor and let Markelle dominate down low.

I watched the first half of this game and went back to work instead…

Felt like a waste of my time with these injured squads. My biggest takeaway is how inept we are at point guard. Paolo lost the ball on 4 possessions in a row trying to handle it in the half court. Cole and Fultz don’t alleviate that.

Moves need to be made whether we are healthy at 100% or not.
