if that happens without Billups even being in house yet. Then LeBron is full of so much crap because the only one who could make that trade would be him.
somebody is making calls because they're talking to the bulls too in a deal where love would go to the suns. but supposedly the pacers called the cavs first. when means they're probably happy to take love. i think that gets done.
the pacers called the cavs because I think they want to threaten the LAL. Because if PG13 goes to the cavs with LeBron and Kyrie and they go to the finals and either win or take the GSW deep. Why exactly would PG13 leave the cavs if Lebron is still there its his best chance to win.
I know he wants LA but I don't think he would leave the cavs which has to worry the lakers because magic whole plan is to wait on PG13 for next summer.

Esq-4 wrote:CLE will try for the younger and presently better players first I'm sure, but if all else fails a Melo trade will be available. I still think the other teams frequently discussed are still viable options, but CLE has to be most likely destination. As discussed at length though, Melo for Love straight up is lateral - you could debate the advantage of either player, and it changes dynamics, but neither one is a significant upgrade or downgrade.
To really make sense it has to be Love for Melo plus, otherwise it's just Bron wanting to play with his boy. Due to age and other reasons, Love should fetch more, but how much more?
Buyout seems ridiculous though.
Slightly off topic, if Bron goes to LA I have a feeling it would be LAC. LAL he would just be another great and if he doesn't win there he'll be considered below those greats. LAC he'd be the guy to finally bring a chip, and if he doesn't, doesn't change much other than looking bad for leaving CLE AGAIN. Crazy that the banana boat crew can realistically come together for a few years, and in a few different cities - LA, CLE maybe even elsewhere.
Love is no longer more valuable or seen as a better option than Melo. Like Steven A said (Hate that I'm quoting him) No way does MELO end a game with just 2 **** points. Cleveland would absolutely give up Love for Melo with nothing else going to them in return imo.

i don't think the lakers can do it. if you give up your young assets and you're stuck with moz/deng, you're still gonna have a terrible team even with paul george. and by the time you can get him help he'll be 30. it's pointless.

If Love is traded for PG or Butler instead of Melo I am not sure I see a deal. Not sure with West in town if Clippers are still in on Melo. Don't know what the market will be for him to be honest. It has to meet so many requirements. 1- Has to be a place Melo is willing to go 2- Has to be a place willing to take Melo 3- Has to give Phil something of "value" that he wants
Just don't really see that happening if Cleveland trades Love and doesn't get Melo in the deal.

I think PG just wants the big market over winning. I see him going to the Lakers, whether he gets a finals run with the Cavs or not

If Love can get Butler or PG, then Love is too much for Melo. PG hurt his value with his statements, but still, I'm thinking that Love is not enough for those teams, especially CHI. I don't think they get the deal done and they "settle" for Melo.

Knicks will not be getting Love in any deal. Love would be shipped to a third team with the Cavs getting Melo plus more.

No because there is no other team out there offering a high lottery pick for Melo to drive the price up. Ainge would only have to beat he best offer on he table from a short list of teams that Melo would accept playing for.

true but they would be getting the 8th pick as well. what if we threw in hermengomez.
3rd pick for 8th melo and willy.
we need young fire power and i dont think anyone past 5th-6th pick has it.

Melo gonna get waived and sign where he wants while his new team keeps all their players. Then Melo can sign another deal and get even more money.
Win-win-win-lose(cause the Knicks are run by an idiot)

Deng/filler, #2, #27, #28

I didn't think too much about it either way, so don't attack me.

the trade would essentially eliminate the celtics from trying to sign any free agents due to melo's salary plus most likely lose the player they would like to draft at 3. If they can't trade for butler, I would thing a one year George rental makes more sense than trading the 3rd pick for melo

According to David Aldridge, Butler informed the cavs he would rather stay in Chicago then be traded to Cleveland. Time for LeBron to get his man in Melo

Trade him don't buy him out ! Make him stay if he doesn't want to waive a NTC... There is absolutely no reason to do this

This would be good for both parties. A failed marriage that just went to hell. If there are no takers for a Melo trade then so be it.

There are no trades for him. His cap hit to a new team makes it nearly impossible to get done. How many teams have about $30 million in dead salary? The buyout is really the only option.

No team is going to want to trade for him because of his trade kicker salary.
So our best course would be to buy him out/waive. Sucks but, that's looking reality.
