More signs pointing to why this would be a bad idea. His manager would probably be wise to steer him away from the Knicks. The honeymoon only lasts for a short period of time and if he is worried about his image the last thing he should be doing is inking a deal to play for the Knicks while recovering from that type of injury. We all know how ugly things can get. This is a bad idea

Nah bro, he's setting himself up to be a poison pill contract with the Knicks. All that pressure on him? If he was healthy then I say take on the challenge, but he's got a tall order ahead of him. He inks a max deal with the Knicks, there will be no mercy shown to him after his recovery is over with. He is going to have to deliver and deliver big otherwise his legacy is only going to take a bigger hit if he fails. His rep took a minor hit when he went to GS but at least he was able to still win. Now picture him failing in NY. It's not just his rep but his legacy is on the line. He would be wise to just resign with GS and play it safe. At least until he's proven he can come back and contribute. Take a player option deal if he has to then walk out when he's ready. To do it now is risky and to come to the Knicks is even that more riskier

I'm dead serious. I've seen enough legends come to the Knicks and have their legacies tarnished by failing to deliver. KD will be no exception. Nobody is an exception. The backlash might not even have to wait til a year or so, it can start immediately. Signing him to a max deal with no timetable of when he is even gonna play or how good he will be when he returns, oh there will be instant eyebrows being raised. You think the media nationwide is going to be singing our praises? They will spin it how they want and I can't even blame them this time if they give us negative press. The gamble here is huge. Whether you think he nailed the implications of the tweet, his post is realistic about what KD will face in NY. I wholly agree with him that if he stays in GS all of this "legacy" talk will fade away. But if he can't recover fully and he falters in NY, he'll be ripped to shreds even if it is unfair.

We wouldn't be a 17 win team though. Come on. We'll be in the playoffs and if anything about Kahwi's experience in TO made clear to him the East is still a clear path to the finals. If you had told Kahwi after being traded from SA he'd win a chip in TO, he'd probably have laughed out loud (awkwardly)

well you seem to have it all figured out

New York is desperate for winning they are desperate for a guy that wants to play here and to call the garden his own. If KD makes that choice to play here he will be loved for that. There is risk in any decision...for a player that is great.

But this isn't about the knicks nor was the tweet I was referencing...it was about KD initial decision and the backlash he took. He would take absolutely no backlash coming the the knicks because people would be completely in aw he is a knick.
