Less pressure on defense and they could use his scoring and passing ability right away. If he can work on a mid-range game he can replicate some of what they got a few years back with Mo Speights. Then over time he can grow and develop a 3 and work on the defense. Personally would be happy to see us draft Moody and Sengun (if he's there at14) and have them come off the bench with Poole.

GS shouldn't do that unless they are planning on offing Wiseman. Otherwise they are stuck with 2 bigs who can't defend in space.

We should dump Wiseman regardless imo.

Yea, I agree, but who takes him? Maybe a rebuilding team like Houston would want him for Wood or something?

... and 3/4 of it arguing if he's 6'9 vs 6'10, based of off photographs... SMH.

He's pretty obviously more similar in height to Sanli than to Cedi...I think if you look at video from a couple years ago, when he was 30+ pounds overweight and an inch or so shorter, he looks like an undersized slow-footed center who would struggle to find a role in the NBA. But his body has developed a lot since then, and that's directly related to his recent success.

Sertac Sanli is 2.14 meters or 214 centimeters tall. That is 7'0 1/4" tall.

Sertac SANLI

Height:
214cm / 7'0"

Turkish players are listed without shoes on. So Sanli is 7-0 without shoes on.

From where? I've seen him listed anywhere from 211 to 216, so I said 6'11" to be conservative.

At any rate, what's more striking to me is how he towers over Cedi. Popular Sengun comparison Kevin Love is Cedi's teammate, and as a Cavs fan, I have to say the size difference between the two his hardly apparent...an inch according to their listed heights, but it's probably even less than that. Only when they stand right next to each other can you see that Love's just slightly taller.

This kid is so ridiculously skilled for his age. The footwork is next level. His passing is stupid. I believe in the shot. He'll get got out on the perimeter early on in his career but I think he's going to be fine long term. Big believer in his talent.

This is a link that breaks it down as to why this guy absolutely should be a top 5 pick. I didn't write this, but I agree with almost all of it.

We will learn more in the FIBA qualifiers, high skill high IQ players with athletic question marks are always significantly underdrafted.

How is he on defense on the perimeter. Because I think he is ultimately a 4.

Think he's an undersized 5 because he's suspect defensively on the perimeter. Plus you want him in PnR actions and running O out of pinch post and on the low block so call him what you want but functionally he'll be a 5. If he can't make it as a big he'll bust imo.

Listed at 2.07 so 6'9 on the FIBA page for the tournament. Yurtseven is a 7 footer.

Sounds about right.

I'm starting to warm up to this kid. The post moves are too elite. I just question is mobility on defense. You can even argue his passing is elite. Is Sengun a new age Gasol bro?

Mini Pau Gasol maybe? He’s 100% a PF at the next level.

He is a 6'9 and he is limited physically. Watching him in that video he is going to be a strech four probably. Saric could be a good comp.

This is where I’m at too.

I wonder if teams can use film to determine agility metrics? Having those metric would be huge, since it’s defending in space that’s the main concern.

What do you guys see as the best offense system for Sengun?

well, that's the rub with Sabonis, doesn't have the perimeter skills to be a modern day 4, and doesn't have the size or rim protection to be a 5, either, so what he is depends entirely on who you have next to him at either the 4 or 5.

his improvement in the NBA has been incredible but he's still an awkward fit in most lineups/schemes and there is a hard cap on how impactful he can be at this point.

This video breaks down his perimeter defense and says how it's one of his weaknesses:

Nothing wrong with having a different opinion - as long as it's done respectfully. It'd be lame if we all agreed on everything :)
