Lakers don't need Dwight to sign an extension, they know he doesn't have the balls to walk after one season in LA.

The only positive from this is that Net fans can finally shut up about Dwight. SMH at ORL, they got raped without even knowing it.

Gotta disagree with this statement. NJ package included Lopez who ended up getting 15 million per for four years. I don't think he is an asset at that price (or any price for that matter but anyways). They also were giving picks which would be similar to the picks that Orlando will get and possibly the picks in NJ deal would be worse as the picks in this situation are coming from Philly, Denver, and Lakers with only Lakers pick to be very low. The only other piece in the deal was Marshon Brooks who I won't clearly consider as a better prospect than the two guys combined (Vukevic or whatever his name is and Philly's newly drafted player).

IMO,
Afflalo at 8 mil per > Lopez at 15 mil per.
3 picks from three different picks > 3 picks from a loaded NJ
Vukevic + Philly's rookie > Brooks.

Brooks IMO is a better prospect than those two guys and the Lakers and Denver picks are worthless. Philly is the only pick that might be around 20. And Afflalo (role playing SG at 8mill.) vs. Lopez at max is close to a wash. I understand your argument and guess it could go both ways but both offers are crap and I seriously wonder how incompetent the Magic FO is.IMO their fanbase would be much better served and represented if Dwight walked for nothing....these packages are just atrocious.

so did denver. they all robbed orlando big time. dwight had held them hostage though, I'm sure no other team was willing to take him so that probably was really the best offer available.

Long time no see. I agree neither deal is really that good. And of course my deal is just imagination. I just feel that if you paying harrington and afflao stat money over the same amount of time, I would prefer stat. But again, thats not reality.

On another note. I have more speculation.

I really feel the GM they just fired made a wink wink deal with Howard. Opt in. And im going to trade you where you want to go in the summer. The owner cleaned house. And Howard publicly came out with feelings of betrayal.

Now we have this deal. Not a very good deal. I would have shipped him to the highest bidder draft night for a TPE and a current lotto pick. Instead he gets sent to a place he was cool with. And for a package thats not all that.

Kind of supports that theory even more. I guess my point is this. Howard really acted like a ass hole on this. But Orlando did also and screwed it up. Both Howard and Orlando are to blame for this whole circus. They share responsibility.

"Newman!" right?

I don't think the deal is all that bad, at least compared to other recent trades like that. I value Afflalo pretty highly because he's a good player with a pure position, in a league where everyone seems to be a tweener these days. Vucevic probably also has high value, being a rookie center who averaged 6/5 in only 15 minutes per. And they get picks, etc. Compared to Gallo/Chandler/Mozgov (and Gallo and Chandler ended up getting paid), it doesn't sound bad to me.

prob was, its debatable though. in my opinion, lopez is a bad contract, but i dont think much of him as a player, unlike most. also the three picks come from three different teams, so they will all be prob this year or next, un like the nets 4 picks which would be over the course of several years.

but yeah orl got hosed and the lakers win once again, its incredible how teams bend over backwards to help that team get stars.

Why?

The Lakers now field a lineup of Nash, Kobe, (Insert SF here) Gasol and Howard. I much rather Howard went to Houston...

I agree that it is debatable. The Net's deal is just my taste. For the Magic, I can see how this 4-team trade is better for rebuilding (not taking long term contracts). I just do not know how good Nikola Vucevic and Moe Harkless are. I think Brook Lopez and Kris Humphries are decent enough to keep you competitive with 4 first round picks.

Yep, Lakers always get what they want. It is like other owners want the Lakers to win... Oh well, just have to live with it and try to enjoy the sport.

They have a very solid youngish team right now. Lawson iggy Gallo faired McGee with chandler 6 th man

At least hes not now ever going to Brooklyn (so we dont have to keep hearing Net fans across the isle chirping about it).

But yeah what the Magic got was just crap. I understand the fear of repeating the Howard situation had they kept Bynum for themselves but come on...Double A is a good young SG but hes got a limited ceiling which he potentially has already tapped...Vucevic isnt even Spencer Hawes much less Andrew Bynum. 3 1st round picks from teams that are playoff locks (including one from a team that could end up picking last) and a 2nd rounder? Google 'Fools Gold'.

you can argue whatever you want, denver, philly and the lakers all improved big time. orlando was held hostage and couldn't get a better offer (hell, which team in the nba would have offered anything substantial after all that had been said), but word is that they weren't exactly being nice with dwight either.

I would +1 this, but i'm scared of what that And1 button does. So i'll just say I agree...

If the Magic really wanted to rebuild from scratch, then they should really start overt and just let them have an expansion draft and be done with them...

The Magic will receive a second round pick from the Nuggets in the Dwight Howard trade that is a 2013 Warriors pick, source tells Y! Sports.
