Best deal they'd find. Not sure I want Melo on the Suns though.

Wow you are generous! I would not trade for him at all in light of his intention to opt out and become a free agent. But if you were considering a Melo trade the most I would give is Okafor and Indy's pick for the rental.

I just do not like his isolation, ball stopping, non-fast breaking game.

Not interested in Melo for any price. I would not want to pay him the salary that he will demand, and even then, we have a team built around team ball. Melo is just not a fit. He will soon be the league's biggest hot potato.

I am not sure who is going to want him in free agency. Maybe Kobe and the Lakers. Someone might give him a short term max deal, but a long term max for Melo is just an express route to an unemployment check for mgmt.

Bringing C.Anthony onto this new Suns vessel, I don't care how economically, would be incredibly dumb.

McD has talked about getting that next "disgruntled" star. I'm fine will Melo but only as a FA. Too much talent to pass up and Horny is the perfect coach for us/him.

Carmelo isn't leaving NY to come play for the Suns.

Frank Lee wrote:Everyone seems to believe that OK4 is purely a trade asset. Granted, he is a large expiring deal, but he has little to no value other than that....UNLESS he is able to play this yr. Trading him would mean we are absorbing as much in return.

I don't think we'd take on an expensive cast off that had multiple yrs left on a deal, nor do I think we deplete our draft picks in effort to find superior talent. Nobody is going to give away a/the star player we covet. May be we take on a bad deal and an upcoming 2-3 yr vet? I just don't see who would be interested in him(OK4). Most of the teams have their budget under control, and of the few who don't, some don't even flinch at being in the lux tax (LA,NY, Brooklyn....)

I hope he gets healthy and plays here. For argument sake, suppose he is able to get to 100% by febuary... would he be a significant contributor ? Would he fit in here ? And if so, would he be a vet we'd keep on a much cheaper deal ?

I agree. I think Jermaine O'Neal had more trade value last year than Okafor does this season and what did O'Neal net us? Exactly.

The Suns should not... and will not trade for Carmelo. Even if you ignored the legitimate question of if a true contender can be built around him, you cannot ignore that the Suns would have almost no hope of retaining him once he hits free agency this summer.

We all seem to be in agreement about Melo, but who wants to tell the delusional Knicks fans who are proposing such nonsense and cannot understand why the Suns would not make such trades.

I know I got blasted for it, but I still think that Larry Sanders is a great target for this team if they're looking for a disgruntled star. I would love to see him at his old college power forward position here. If Plumlee continues his development and Len can become a decent big, a long-term front court of Plumlee/Len and Sanders/Morris is seems like a awesome prospect to me.

Milwaukee has John Henson at (essentially) the same position. The lack of talent on that team means they can count on a top 3 pick - especially if they trade Sanders. The contract they just gave Sanders locks them into their current team for longer than they probably want and they could get a couple of first round picks AND salary relief from us for their rebuilding efforts. The Suns could send Okafor + 3 first rounders (ideally 15' LA, 14' Ind, one of Wash/Min picks) for Sanders + Neal or some other overpaid scrub on a 2-3 year contract.

Bucks roll a lineup of:

Knight/Ridnour
Mayo/Giannis
Butler/Middleton
Ilyasova/Udoh
Henson/Zaza/Okafor

+ 2 or 3 firsts next year (add Parker or Randle to that lineup) and 2 the next year. That's really not a bad re-build. They'd have cap space galore in 2016 as well.

Suns rock

Bledsoe/Ish
Dragic/Goodwin
Tucker/Morris
Frye/Morris
Sanders/Plumelee/Len

With the front court eventually shifting to Sanders playing the 4 when Len gets healthy. PLUS the FO would still have 2 first rounders to play with this year.

That's a great team on good contracts with a lot of young, hard nosed defenders that can run. I would love to watch that team.

Who says no out of Melo for Monroe + Singler + 2014 1st?

DET gets crazy good on offense...

Jennings
KCP
Melo
Smoove
Drummond
----
Stuckey
Billups
Jerebko

Knicks have their next franchise big who would pair well with Chandler up front, and Singler is the ideal 4th-5ht option as a team first player. They also get a first rounder this year as they don't have their own...

I think Detroit says no. With Carmelo's impending free agency and that he has not done anything to hide that he would prefer to play in NY or LA, I dont see any team outside of those markets giving up much for what would in all likelihood be a 5 month rental of Carmelo.

Not sure, but I love it for Detroit.

Aren't BOTH Melo and Munroe free agents though?

Why are we giving up a first? For the three extra points DeMar gets a game? How about the four extra assists Goran gets, which could mean eight to twelve more points from him?

No thank you.

They would come from Bledsoe because his assists total would go up with Goran gone. Bled would be strictly the PG. Instead if avg 6 asst he'd avg 10
