They wanted KP + Frank.

It's not about what they wanted. It's about what fans would give up. There were fans squirming at the thought of giving up just Willy and one pick lol.

And I remember you being one of them.

Dont get me wrong, I had my doubts acquiring Kyrie but that was mostly because I didnt want to KP in a deal and didnt feel this team wasnt properly constructed to compete with Kyrie/KP and the rest of the squad.

But many people were really doubting his skills as a ball player. His defense has improved alot and is not forcing up shots at all. Hes a top 10-15 player in this league.

Way too early for me.

It is still early. But I like what im seeing from him. Hes proving me wrong as well and im enjoying his growth as a player.

Never doubted his skill, did doubt his ability to lead a team. Incredible start to the season, and cant stress enough with Hayward out. They wont be able to sustain this type of play, and likely will get bounced in the playoffs by the Cavs. But im giving Kyrie and that team props right now.

I wouldn't do it because Randle is an RFA that wants to be paid. I'd do it for Nance though.

Yes because Randle is a RFA. If he was under contract for a few more years rookie scale it's a no brainer.

And I still wouldn't. Knicks aren't in a position that they should be trading away draft picks right now.

Agree on Ben but Kyrie ain't worth it lol.

Even if KP has a 20% chance to reach much of his ceiling, I take that over Kyrie for sure. Let's see Boston win a title.

We always knew that good scorers can score a lot if they are given domain over an offense.

i would pay him though if he continues to ball out. plus he's only 22. i mean we are running out of options here to pair up KP with a good big man. i've heard randle's defense has been on point too.

Randle's a joc that don't play D. Nance is a better fit.

That would have been impossible. They wanted Frank in the deal, and KP too. Obviously KP wouldn't get traded, but our team would be KP + Kyrie without Frank, and trading away numerous future picks, which means we lose the ability to build around them.

he playing D right now tho. lakers fans want him to start/get more minutes too. he's playing the best ball of his career. 24/7/5 last night, u know nance ain't touching those numbers lol
. Teams are averaging just 99.4 points per 100 possessions while he’s on the floor. Randle’s defensive rating was 113.3 last season, and 113 in his sophomore season.

I honestly think Frank is going to be really good. I think he should be allowed to concentrate on those good passes and playing D, and we see hints of supreme poise and a smooth offensive game, even if he's not looking to score a lot or ever will.

The sooner he and KP can get on the court together and the more minutes Horny can play them together, by mid-year at least, the better.

Wouldnt try to go out of my way to get Randle.

Randle is playing some solid ball but he's doing so on a garbage team and even then his play leaves a lot to be desired.

His basketball IQ is pretty low. His defense is solid but he's undersized and he isn't a particularly good shooter either. He is not the type of player we need.

We need a swingman who can penetrate and point guard. We basically need wings/perimeter players who can drive into the paint.

The Nuggets are really fun.

For me, the Kyrie package was symbolic. Of course you'd do Willy and a pick and that's why it was never on the table. The kind of package it would take to get him is one we had no business offering. I mean, if you're already offering that... why not just add one more pick. And so on. So you move on from the get-go.

Look at what Boston gave them.

One of the league's prime assets
PLUS a star that they can keep if it works (with LeBron, mind you) or salary dump if 'Bron leaves <---- specifically important for the Cavs
PLUS a good starter
PLUS a guy whose name sounds like one of the most well known 20th century philosophers

That's a big haul. The equivalent of which from us would absolutely gut all future flexibility. No bueno. It's why you BUILD THE ASSETS BOSTON DID so you can make the move and still have enough around him. We're just not there and had no business trying to outbid.

Great deal for Boston. They needed to consolidate. Bad deal for us.
