So I don't know how well Leonard Williams has been playing since this trade but he had a huge game for the Giants at Seattle.

Guess he's living up a bit to his draft hype.

Or it could be that it's his contract year.

Rams lose to the Jets.

Doesn't matter, I don't think any NFC team can hang with the Chiefs or maybe even Buffalo if they should upset them.

Pittsburgh may have had too many key injuries to contend.

Why did the Niners waive him? He had an injury. But the guy has played outstanding & is now starting for the rival.

So I heard Seattle has a tough salary cap situation too. Maybe not as bad but they're facing an offseason where they would pay Adams big money but because of the trade, no first or third round pick.

Rams gave up a lot of assets for Ramsey and gave him a big contract. They had a good year defensively and overall, though if Donald doesn't play in the next playoffs game, that defense may not look so great.

But Seattle may have to double down on Adams because what other choice do they have?

Their big name UFAs are Carson, Hyde, Moore, Wright and Griffin.

Wright earned $10 million this season. That's a lot for a LB, especially someone who will be over 32 next season. Wagner will be over 31, though he's signed for two more seasons at $17.1 and 20.350 million.

Oh Adams' contract isn't up yet, he will earn $9.8 million. So they could clear some space before they have to pay him. But Brown will be UFA after next season as well.

Seattle is set to have only $6 mil in cap space (18th best cap situation in the league.) Them not having their 1st & 3rd this year, and their 1st next year is going to hurt them greatly. Which doesn't hurt my feelings.

Rams are in pretty bad shape, they are already $21 mil over the cap (28th best). They are also without their 1st this season via the Ramsey trade.

Here is the current 2021 cap situation for all teams:

https://www.spotrac.com/nfl/cap/2021/

Frisco actually isn't in terrible shape with almost $15 mil in cap space (12th most), until you consider that they have an exorbitant of free agents to be, and will need to fill a ton of spots on the roster.

My hope is Saleh is a huge Armstead fan and the team does Robert "a solid" and takes a 7th rounder from whomever Saleh heads to so that Arik can follow him.

Not gonna happen, but I can dream.

Yeah, that one was a big head scratcher for me when it happened. He dealt with several injuries and was never able to get on the field for a sustained period, but this year of all years, when you had the short-term IR option, why cut him? Obviously a huge mistake in retrospect.

Schneider just got an extension till 2027. Sa bunch of Hawk fans on another site still think he is a top NFL GM. I get you could make an argument he was a top 5 GM before 2014 but it isn't like he has knocked it dead ever since

Other than Jax, who seems to be destined for Urban Meyer, it appears that Saleh is going to have his pick of HC jobs. If I'm him, I would talk to Philly only to maximize my value (i.e. contract negotiations) but I wouldn't seriously consider Philly to be an option.

I agree. They have been experiencing a steady talent drain for several years now.

Unfortunately they just got rid of Schottenheimer. He was only holding their offense back. Hopefully his replacement does much of the same.

Good luck, Robert. Seems like its gonna be an uphill battle for him over there as they aren't exactly flush with talent and they don't have the best reputation as an organization. They do have #2 overall and an extra 1st along with an extra first next year as well. They also have a sizable chunk of cap space to work with this year as well. So there are some reasons for hope over there.

His departure nets us third round picks this year and next. I'll take that. I've gone back and forth on Saleh, but this year he did a darn good job with a depleted unit.

Rams trade for Stafford, 2 first round picks, a 3rd round pick and Goff.

Read on Twitter
?s=20

OK, moving on from Goff is one thing but giving up those picks for a 32-year old?

Also didn't Rams trade a bunch of first rounders for Ramsey?

Now they're going to have to give Stafford an extension? After they gave big extensions to all their WRs I believe, Wood, Kupp. Also big extension to Ramsay on top of what Donald is making.

Spotrac is down but Over the Cap shows Goff has two more years than Stafford.

OTOH, are the Rams going to extend Stafford in two years when he will be over 34? Maybe if he stays healthy he will be okay.

They almost have to unless he's injured or not playing well, because of the picks they're giving up.

I guess the picks they give up may partially be the price for Detroit to take on Goff's contract.

And a follow-up stating the obvious:

https://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2021/02/03/jon-grudens-comments-to-richard-sherman-are-blatant-tampering/

That's as blatant as I can ever recall a case of tampering. On national media - after being explicitly warned about it! - going about poaching a player who is still under contract. They should lose a pick and face a decent fine for sure.

https://podcasts.google.com/feed/aHR0cHM6Ly9hbmNob3IuZm0vcy8zODlhZTVlYy9wb2RjYXN0L3Jzcw/episode/ZDRhYmIzNTQtNGE0ZC00MDYwLWEwOTctYWYzMTQ4Y2U0YjRm?hl=en&ved=2ahUKEwjb1ojP1M3uAhWSKs0KHfT9Cq0QieUEegQIBhAF&ep=6

Just before the three-minute mark, if you want to hear it yourself. I'm all for the Raiders putting their interest out there. Let's drum up the price and get a third-round comp for losing an aging player.

Man, if they had officiated last years SB like they did this year, we would have won that **** going away. Ugh. Not to mention if the Chiefs had been missing four starting OL.
