Re: Official Raptors 2011 NBA Draft Thread
Assuming we're drafting a guard:
1. Kyrie - 14.5ppg (49.1 FG%, 40.9 3FG%, 92.3FT%), 5.8apg, 3.7rpg, 1.5spg in 26mpg
2. Walker - 30.0ppg! (52.7 FG%, 40.6 3FG%, 88.6FT%), 3.6apg, 4.2rpg in 34mpg
3. Knight - 16.2ppg (41 FG%), 2.8apg, 3rpg, 4.2FTA in 33mpg
4. Selby (still need to see him play)
and if they declare:
5. CoJo
6. Marshall
7. Harrow

One thing to note is how much Kyrie is doing in only 26mpg. Come time for ACC play I expect him to get at minimum 5 more mins to bring him over 30mpg.

Terrence Jones - 18 pts 10 reb, 1 stl, 1 blk
Brandon Knight - 23 points, 6 ast, 7 reb, 1 blk, 4 of 6 3PT
TJ is amazing, getting rebounds, passing the ball, running the team nicely. BK is just lightening it up from deep!

Re: Official Raptors 2011 NBA Draft Thread
First half of UNC vs. Illinois:
The UNC as a whole plays really really bad. I never seen a college team turns over the ball as much as the UNC do. Guys like Larry Drew and Strickland don't even know how to play the guard position, turns the ball too much, tries to drive into the lane with 3 defenders all over them. When they turn the ball over, they don't run back on defense nor do they guard their men tight, that's why Illinois kept knocking down 3's.
Harrison Barnes...oh boy, he's struggling big time, struggle with his shots he only knocked down one open 3 pointer, but just once, he missed other open 3 though. Part of the reasons why he has so low FG% because he has to do everything on his own - drew and strickland have bad bad court visions and struggle to find teammates to score thus Barnes does't get enough touches, and its even worse for Barnes because he has no handles, every time he tries to drive it's either he's too slow or not strong enough to pass by defenders. There's hardly any double team D on Barnes too, they don't see him as a scoring threat lol.
6 points from Barnes came from an open 3 pointer (3 pt), and he scored over an undersized dude on the post plus the foul (3 pts), that's all, he only scored on 2 possessions.

Re: Official Raptors 2011 NBA Draft Thread
I kind of feel for Barnes, because UNC is not a very good team. He basically has to put the team on his back, but the thing is, he's too unselfish of a player to do that.
I actually think Barnes has done some good things in this game. His shot looks like it's going to go in every time he shoots it. He's just in a shooting slump.
And he's got a little bit of DeRozan in him, in the sense that he would rather blend in than be the standout guy on the team.
I think he can do more than what he's shown thus far. He has to pick it up soon though.

At this point Barnes may not end up being the consensus number 1 pick. Though it's waaaay to early to tell.

Yeah true, he has a very good shooting form I can see him being a really really good shooter when spotted up and even off the dribble too, I just think he needs to improve his handles, he's too predictable right now.
Just wondering if UNC's the right system for Barnes though, that system requires good guards to run good ball movement but right now drew is really a bad passer in half court (still don't know why marshall not getting the starting job he's obviously the better passer). If Barnes go to Kentucky I think he'll do well there, Coach Cal let his players do their iso-plays to exploit mismatches, maybe Barnes would do better there if he has Brandon Knight by his side?

If it's right now, Perry Jones is #1 for most teams...or Irving! But barnes won't fall out of top 3 for sure.

Barnes 1st step is pretty slow I've noticed. Isn't able to get around people using his 1st step or dribble.
Roy Williams is also terrible at producing wings and running proper sets for them.

Roy Williams is a great recruiter, but if you take recruiting out of the equation, he is a rather pathetic coach.
He ultimately achieves success when junior and senior laden teams of good recruits finally meld and learn how to play basketball properly, because the coach certainly won't help them.

Next game facing Kentucky, this is going to end uglier for UNC.

Re: Official Raptors 2011 NBA Draft Thread
While the conference lacks great prospects, the Big East is reigning supreme. They have been great in their OOC matchups against other BCS schools in November.
Pitt, Syracuse, Georgetown and UConn should all be in the top 10 next week.
Villanova, Notre Dame, West Virginia and Louisville may all be in the top 25 next week.
The exposure should result in some upperclassmen developing into first round prospects, that are not quite on the radar yet.

Nice update of Kemba Walker on DX:
http://www.draftexpress.com/article/NBA-Draft-Prospect-of-the-Week-Kemba-Walker-3588/
One month into the 2010/2011 season, there isn't a more productive player in all of college basketball than UConn junior Kemba Walker.
Walker was projected as a lottery pick going into the season, and he's rising even further up our draft board following his impressive start. He's now solidly in the top 10 and is rated as the draft's second-best point guard after Kyrie Irving. Once drafted, he'll be one of the fastest players in the NBA, and he already looks ready to step in from Day 1 and help run a team, which is something that can't be dismissed.

Re: Official Raptors 2011 NBA Draft Thread
He looks to me like like a johnny flynn 2.0. A little less explosive athletically but more explosive on offense. He's taller than flynn which is on the plus size and has solid D. Avg 30 at the pt spot is for real tho. I'm rooting for brandon knight to step it up and prove that he can be a lead gaurd. He's 6'4 and should be a problem
for pgs.

Theres a very good chance we might end up with a wing player....
Which means Kleiza and Barbosa aren't gonna be here for awhile.
Then you have the Scoring PG's like Walker and Knight that are redundant to Bayless but have a higher ceiling most likely.
you never, ever pass on a guy just because you have a similar player already under contract... Bayless doesn't make anyone redundant... #1 Kemba Walker is probably better now, with more room to grow and #2 You still need to have a backup PG, nothing wrong with having similar types of players as the starter and backup for consistency.
