You should....Partridge told some of the players last night that he moved on because he had no other choice, I also saw where Partridge made comments that being here in WI was the best 5 years of his life....the only way he had no choice would be if he was told he had no choice, meaning he knew he wouldn't be retained.

No, that's not the "only way." He could have also thought he was stuck in no man's land, where there was a possibility that he wouldn't be retained by the new Wisconsin staff, and so he had to go the safe route and accept a job that pays him close to double what he was making here. That's also possible.

In the case you presented he would still have a choice and a very valid one especially if Barry came back to coach next year. I realize I am taking what he said literally, but you always have a choice unless you already know the decision has been made for you.

If this doesn't end in Petersen (or equivalent) being our head coach, Alvarez has conducted the biggest **** show of a search I've ever seen and should give back the million bucks he made this year.

I'm still holding out hope for Petersen, but losing Partridge is terrible for us.

Yes. What he said is also a common figure of speech. As I mentioned earlier, this is likely and what I presume, though I don't rule out the other explanation. Even if so, it's presumptuous to jump to Peterson. Though possible, to be frank, at this point it's just fans holding out hope.

I still think it is Tucker, although not sure why he wouldn't just let Jacksonville know at this point.

If it were Tucker I assume it would have disseminated amongst the staff. Many of them would have been retained.

I disagree with that....Tucker has his own contacts in both college and pro, why would he want to keep a group he know nothing of? If you were hired to run a business aren't you going to bring in people you know and trust?

I'm seeing some rumors floating out there implying that Wisconsin is struggling to find a HC because no one wants to coach in Barry's shadow, and that Barry is thinking about just coming out of retirement and taking back the gig.

I won't pretend to know too much about Tucker's college contacts, but he hasn't coached or recruited in college since 2004.

I'd assume it's safe to say that he doesn't have a whole lot of good people on speed dial right now and would appreciate some start up help.

If I was going to take a management position at a large company I sure as hell would have a plan and a list of people I would want to go to war with. I also believe this current staff is vastly over rated by many people.

UW defensive coordinator Chris Ash recently accepted an offer to become the Razorbacks' defensive coordinator.

However, sources said Friday that Ash has decided to pursue the head coaching opening at UW.

Agreed Luke.

If he was going to hire a two-bit MAC coach, it should have leaked immediately and he should have forced the guy to keep the assistants critical to keeping our recruiting class together.

If anything worries me, its this story about Ash. My thinking is that he followed Bielema because he figured he had no chance at the Wisconsin gig. Maybe he heard through the grapevine that Barry's search wasn't going well and figured that he might have a shot - a Bielema 2.0 sort of situation?

LOL...who the hell would come and be a head coach for someone that would force him to keep coaches and coaches who coached this team to the 7th best record in the Big Ten.

One that's happy to be at Toledo right now. I'd keep Kevin Cosgrove on if I could jump from some modest MAC performance to a Big 10 gig.

Apparently a bunch of other schools were happy to have them at twice their pay.

Also, that logic should kind of end your clamoring for the head coach that coached his team to the #5 record in the Big Least. Who the hell would want that guy?
