OKC really doesn't have a choice. No way Westbrook returns next year. Westbrook can probably force who he gets traded too, not saying he will choose the Heat. We will see.

I think Babs just became fully guaranteed for the season, but yeah, his contract is pretty small and not too hard to waive :)

You're going to have to specify, Bish. We just picked up like five whatshisfaces :)

When you look at the Westbrook situation, It comes down to where he really wants to go. He has TONS of leverage now, especially with the traumatized Thunder brass unwilling to take a risk in free agency again. Whichever team he wants to go to, he can just tell his agent that that particular team is the only one he'd sign an extension with. That information would severely cripple any hope for a real bidding war. So let's say it was the Heat that Westbrook has keyed in on. As the Thunder, you don't like the offer of Dragic and Richardson as much as Boston or LA package... but do you just stubbornly hold onto him past the deadline and lose him for nothing? Or do you take the promising prospect and the couple 1st round picks that Dragic could be flipped into?

It's a highly unlikely situation, but if Westbrook wanted to be here and worked in tandem with Riley and his agent they could get him here by the deadline. Yes Boston and LA could offer a few more picks, but that's all worthless if he explicitly doesn't want to go to those teams. At the end of the day, I see him agreeing to go to Boston because they can get rid of many solid assets and still remain very competitive in the East.

They have Gobert and Favors, they really need a good PG and they compete now.

Trey Lyles is a 20YO scoring PF with upside that could really fit here.

We might need to add a sweetener.

If we want a young PF with upside potential, we could have signed Christian Wood instead. Boy is hot in the summer league!

According to http://stats.nba.com/

Suns 13-14 | Pace
Overall | 98.16 (8th)
IN Wins | 98.84
IN Loses | 97.20

Heat 15-16
(Post ASG) | Pace
Overall | 97.70 (18th)
IN Wins | 98.07
IN Loses | 97.01

Can we play faster?

I really wanted us to do that and still cant' understand how we didn't take that gamble on him. Could become a big miss.

Yes, I totally think we can play faster without Wade and Bosh playing.

White is very mobile for a 7 foot C (Reed too)
D.Williams and J.Johnson are super mobile for PF's, can really run/cut
Justise super quick and can lead the break off rebounds too, has the vision
Rich and TJ are super fast and can also bring the ball up like PG's
Dragic and Weber are super quick and have tight handles.

We can become the fastest team in the league if Spo pushes that style. And I think he should.

Only slow MF around is Babbit.

I agree that Westbrook COULD force his way here, but I don't see why he WOULD. he's got a few other good options, and don't see him doing OKC dirty like that, he likes his org. Celtics might overpay but I think it's them or LA.

Honestly CP3 doesn't move the meter much for me.

then who moves the meter for u then?

He'll be 32 next summer (when we would presumably get him) and is one of the shortest players in the league.

He's good, don't get me wrong, but his Clippers tenure has sort of proven that him as an alpha dog doesn't really get you anywhere.

Now, as a 3rd option? Maybe. But do we really want to invest a 4 year max deal for someone with 10+ years in the league to a 3rd option?

The Stern veto was basically a laser-focused Iggie Jinx. CP3 is an awesome PG, but it's obvious now that he's carrying some sort of magical burden.

4 years of Chris Paul shenanigans just ain't worth it when he's on the verge of receiving AARP notices.

Paul's game never relied on athleticism, so I'd guess his game will age gracefully. He's the greatest point of his era. His stats this year were equal or better to his career averages. His career offensive rating is 122, and his defensive rating is 104. That's about as prolific a difference as you're sure to witness. I'd take four years of all time great point on the Heat.

CP3 as a free agent - sure. He's still great.

but would not give up young long term assets for him, tiny aging PG's scare the hell out of me. Without the quickness (due to injury or just father time) - they're in deep chit.

I think the best bet for us now is to get one of the sixers big men, and get dragic and Mcnuggets off our books. I say this not because I don't like goran (Actually think he is the best PG we had since ............Williams/payton????), but right now we are not going to win the championship in the next two years. If we built our team around the goon Squad (WWJT) and add maybe a Noel/Okafor we would have built our own eastern power house. The beauty is that all of them would only have used up a little less than 35 million in cap space this year and the next.

2016/17

2.5/ Winslow
5.6/ TJ
22.1/ Whiteside
.8/ Richardson

31/ Total money committed to current youth

~5 mill for either Okafor/Noel

That leaves us with Bosh (maybe 23.1) and 50 million left to play with. 73 without Bosh and no state taxes

I am all about securing our long term future once the goldenstate/Cleveland fiasco has ran its course.

Those guys can play PF? Seems like a spacing nightmare with Whiteside at center....I do like the idea of cashing in Dragic for young pieces though.
