Imagine the playoffs with noone in the stands. I would almost rather them just cancel the season honestly.

Imagine players getting hyped after a highlight play, then realizing there are no fans cheering them on

didn't the NBAPA agree to the return last week? If there are concerns now that not everyone didn't know/didn't get a vote shouldn't they be upset at the leaders of the NBAPA (CP3, Michele Roberts I think, Kyrie)? Could be mixing up my timelines here.
Doesn't sound like there was any kind of vote.
Mainly the superstars were enthusiastic, because they draw huge salaries and they are on contenders.
Some players who might not want to play for whatever reason were not going to speak out agains the big name stars.
OTOH, there are players who are in a contract year or are marginal, minimum salary types of players. Those guys may want to use these games to improve their standing with their teams and the league.

Yeah, of all the concerns about Orlando, hurricanes are at the bottom of the list. They're rarely affected.

What the NBPA voted on was to continue further negotiations with the league. They approved of the 22 team format but nothing beyond that. Then reports said the NBA was back and people took that and ran with it. Another example of sports journalism being wack.

I am surprised at all the people that want to watch a Bush League version of the NBA when we have a pandemic and social injustice protests going on...but, hey gotta have that non essential entertainment, right?
The Roman Circus must go on to distract, huh?![]()

I wonder if Rob realizes that it’s kinda hard to play in a arena with no electricity.
Sounds like a Karen upset about not getting a haircut.
How often does Orlando really get hit with a hurricane? The likelihood of their being some huge consequence to the NBA because of a hurricane is low. People are reaching now.

Re: Woj: Some Players getting cold feet about playing in Orlando
If Orlando doesn't happen this is probably the last nail in the coffin for me when it comes to watching basketball.
From beginning to watch religiously starting in the late 2000's to last season being much more excited about football (which I started watching in 2018), there's really not much appealing about basketball.
Like how I find baseball, premadonnas being paid way too much, sitting out because they have a paper cut, and a handful of stacked teams.
The only thing similar now is that you can't look at QB's without a flag, just like how you don't look at a jump shooter without a foul.

What do you mean like everyone is guessing? The estimates by experts at end of April was 12-18 months as the goal. The more advanced vaccine trials are in stage 2 still, and only a few have betted on themselves to actually start production on their vaccine. I am optimistic and really hoping these vaccines see the light, but it would be an incredible turnaround if they did as vaccines usually take several years.
Would you like to lay money on it?
There’s already multiple vaccines. It’s only the trials that are pending. And at least one of those that’s Canadian will be done by end of calendar year. In less ethical places with less restrictions, the trials are going to take as long.
And they are ready shortened the testing from the ethical standpoint oretty much everywhere from several years, in light of the need. They used the sars vaccine work that never finished to get ahead.
Just wanna interject on here, but do you wanna be the guinea pig? I mean say its true and the vaccine does cone out say... late November/early December.. you gonna be the first in line to get it? Assuming its also mass-produced?
You don't think more conservative people would wait 2-3months more to see if there are any side effects?
If you aren't scared and willing I mean heck there are talks/rumours that china already has a vaccine finished, why not try it out then for those who want speed more than safety?
Would I have volunteered to do something that might benefit everyone with little downside risk as part of a human trial? Lol. Of course. And you're asking if I would wait until it's past that stage? Uh... no, I'm gonna be good.
Wait.... what do you think the human trails are for if not effectiveness and side effects? You think you can just buy it while it's in trial?

Normally vaccines are tested for long periods of time (we're talking years), not months.

THANK YOU. You proved my point. Normally vaccines DOES take years. How much more these super-fast ones being developed now.
But yeah what I meant about conservative people waiting a few more months... I meant when all the bells and whistles and all say they rolled-out OFFICIALLY a vaccine and it has all the approvals and what-nots.. doesn't matter when like a few months from now or 2 years from now.. conservative people would not immediately line-up at the counter/clinic/hospital for it. They would probably wait a little while before doing so even though it has been mass -distributed.

It is quite literally impossible to know the long term side effects of the vaccine. I wouldnt judge anyone who would decide against taking it. For many people, the known risk of the virus might be more palatable than the unknown risk of the vaccine.

Like the NFL and many other sports fans that simply don’t care about these players as human beings. These players are majority black men before anything else and they have the right to raise awareness and be conscious of issues that impact them and their families. Just because RealGM wants them to shut up and dribble doesn’t mean they should
Is there no more middle grounds and grey areas today?
Ill be honest, I dont care about what any players says. I do follow them just for entertainment. This goes for all people in entertainment. This has nothing to do with political stances either, I dont care if the person is left or right, I dont pay attention to them. I watch their sports/movies or listen to their music and that's it. I dont pay attention to what they say outside of their job. I dont have any social media and therefore dont follow them. Not because I think they're less than a normal person, but because their opinion means as much to me as any random stranger I bump into.
With that said, like Ive stated on this thread multiple times. If they dont want to play because of Corona, totally understand. If they dont want to play because they feel like social/political activism is more important at this moment, go for it I understand. But getting angry at fans for looking at you as entertainers is dumb, that is literally your job.
Just think so many arguments now a days people act like there are only 2 extreme sides. No more middle ground in anything. You either fully support everything every player says or you're an idiot that says shut up and dribble. No there tends to be nuance and middle grounds in most discussions.
There is a middle ground and even Kyrie mentioned a middle ground. They just want to be careful with the situation because as a people this has been a historical moment that the entire world has taken notice to the injustice of people that look like them.
They don’t want the Kaepernick situation to happen to this movement when their entertainment gives people an escape from the chaos of reality. People are still being beaten or killed and we don’t want America or the world to lose focus and be comfortable
Individuals like Kyrie are going to overstep and kill the golden goose for future generations of players.
Positive change is a good thing, but you are going to make enemies when you are putting the livelihood of others (less fortunate then yourself) in jeopardy in order to get it.
Push for change and dedicate your energy to pursuing it, but don’t bite the hand that feeds you.
...
These are going to be trying times as the league is entering survival mode. Times like this need a Stern figure (one capable of making the hard and unpopular choices). Is Silver up to the task? That will be the multi billion dollar question.
Players should be allowed to stay home without pay but it should also be allowed for the individual teams to void their contracts (if they so choose), without ramification or consequence to cap.
Don't believe the hype...

I have zero faith in the potential vaccine (just as I never trusted the flu shot).
I will most definitely be taking the long wait and see approach, before introducing “the cure” into my body.

What are you talking about....if this is about mercury there are no long term effects from that little of an exposure. And no, your body does not collect toxins endlessly. Whatever you people are reading you need to be more selective and know where you don't know more than people that did it for a lifetime

LOL you serious? I'm faaaaaar from being that anti-vax guy. Heck I think they are deluded and I def did get my vaccines (flu/measles/etc). I will certainly be one of those who will get the vaccine. However, I will not be the one lining-up first for it same as when the lockdown/quarantine lifted I wasn't the first one to get a haircut or go to the beach.
If the first one rolls-out in December say Vaccine A, I'd probably get it in February if there are no negative news about it. Or say wait for Vaccine B/C/D which will "supposedly" come out around March.

Im not some conspiracy nut, lol. Im telling you what should be self evidently true; you cannot know long term effects when a study doesnt go long term. Personally, i know the risks involved with contracting COVID. Im young, healthy and have no cormobidities. If im putting my health first, which i always suggest everybody should do, then taking an unknown vaccine at this point in time is not worth it for me.
