31 for Grayson Allen (absorb using DJ Wilson tpe)
BPA with a purchased second round pick.
-this is a deep draft, plenty of guys available
Agree with the sentiment that Merrill is the possible odd man out
Honestly, I don't see Allen as being any more talented than Merrill. And I think the Bucks should keep the pick. There's going to be at least 1 very good player available.
Btw, I'm amazed to find another Bucks/Orioles fan. O's are my 2nd favorite baseball team - unfortunately.
I do not see Merrill and Allen in the same league athletically. And that’s the issue with Merrill. Also, Allen had some big games last year for Memphis. I’d deal 31 for him fast.

0 interest in trading the pick for Allen for me. I just have no interest in paying him $4 mil (and increasing our tax bil by like $15-20 mil) and then potentially having to pay even more the following year when we get #31 for peanuts for multiple years.

Can someone talk me out of having Tre Mann 9th on my board overall?
By no means is he a bad prospect, but he's basically a lesser Luke Kennard with ball security issues (we obviously disagree on him having elite ball handling).
I watched him a lot because I love the Kennard types but I think your point about his improvement is salient. If he's a guy who is improving rapidly, he's a quality prospect. If he just figured out how to apply his skill level to the college game, he's garden variety.
Interesting, Mann is very shifty. So many plays of him just stopping and leaving his man running the opposite direction. I do love his handle though and how quickly he stops/changes direction. My true concerns about his game is defensively I don't see him being anything special and his decision making as the lead guard. He can pass but it isn't as impressive as the other guards in the draft.
I did my rankings before looking at any of the expert opinions so I'm definitely alone on my top 10 ranking of him. I was just impressed with his game and how I imagine it translating to the NBA. Assuming he keeps making leaps like he did over the past year.

Honestly, I’d rather swap DDV for Grayson than 31... I don’t want to pay any of the 3. But, having success with Brogdon and now Nwora imho, I think we can upgrade the roster with the pick, just as much as a vet.
I hope we keep it. I really like a lot of the 2nd and 3rd wave guards in the class. The infatuation with raw athleticism and minimal basketball skill still baffles me now the same way it did when Darius Miles was 18yrs old...
RIP Kobe Forever. GOAT 8-24. Long Live Giannis

Re: 2021 NBA Draft - Spoilers OK
I know it will probably be a very tedious evening for Bucks related news but I can't wait for the draft anyway. The Olympics are so boring this year and I'm already thirsty for basketball after our championship.

That’s the whole point. It’s a salary slot that we wouldn’t have. It opens up some bigger moves you can make in the future. Having a bunch of guys who make league minimum only restricts what you can do. That player actually being a solid guy who fits a big need this season (Donte isn’t coming back anytime soon) is the cherry on top.

No interest in Allen. Bucks have a good roster. No reason to fill it with a..holes. DDV is much more valuable than Allen, if he's healthy, although a totally different skillset.

Just so unfortunate. He's a Junior so the fact he doesn't go by DJ is a red flag.

Grayson isn't the right kind of dog. It's like bringing in Blake Griffin but maybe worse. Don't want those problems.

Sorry, I've just never been at all impressed with Allen, and athletically - he's probably in the bottom 5% of the NBA. I'd certainly never play him in a key situation. What they both can do is shoot - period.

One of the 7 or so promising guards mocked in the 20s by various mocks should fall to us. I hope it's Springer myself, but all of them look like contributors.
Although I am not sure if Bud will play any rookie or sophmore consistently next year, besides maybe Nwora. If that's the case, then I can see pick 31 easilly being traded.

Yes.
Grayson is like a small deranged Chihuahua that was abused as a puppy. It seeks to inflict pain at opportune times because it doesn't have the power or confidence to take people head on.
What we need is a Rottweiler. Bravery, honor, loyalty... Power.

I'm still not sure how I feel about Springer. He kinda reminds me of if Lonzo Ball was just an ordinary passer and I don't know how helpful that is. Seems like he should be a good defender in the NBA and he's not a lost cause offensively by any means, but I don't really know what he's providing you on that end early in his career. I don't trust his shooting at all, pretty stiff ball-handler, and I'm not sure his finishing ability will translate well (at least not early on). If he improves the ball-handling that'll make things a lot easier for himself even if the shooting is never a weapon, but I just don't know.
