I'd like to see the Pistons lose the next dozen games, close competitive contests. With good teams resting players and others willing to lose badly that's not likely.

My god I would have felt better if the Cavs had beaten Charlotte yesterday.

It looked like they were gonna...

We've officially reached the point where it's getting hard to watch the games. Surprised it took this long.

I've always said tanking feels as hard as trying to make the playoffs. It gets competitive both ways.

I've been saying for a long time now we're a 21 or 22 win team and that hasn't really changed. Still feel like we finish the season 3-9 or 4-8 these last 12 games. Although if a bunch of playoff teams end up resting guys down the stretch we might squeak out an extra win. Hopefully that's not the case.

The two games we have left against Orlando and Minny are likely wins and then we'll probably pull out 1 or 2 other wins on top of those.

Who knows how it all will play out. I remember us losing like crazy after the AllStar break to end up 5th worst. Then just to have 6 and 7 jump us (If I remember correctly)

Watching a competitive game you want them to win is fine.

Watching the same when you really really want them to lose just feels gross.

Yeah it sucks bad especially if you just get screwed in the end by the lottery. Which we have every single time it seems.

Oh yeah, I’m not morally conflicted about it- I definitely want us to lose.

But it feels icky when Bey hits a three at a critical point in the game and the biggest part of me feels like maybe he should have missed it.

It's compounded for me after years of wanting them to win when Drummond didn't seem to want it as much as I did. With a squad of hungry young players it's much harder to wish them anything but success. Now if they could just lose the next dozen...

Same here, that would have basically put the Cavs out of reach with 4 wins in hand but I still think that the Cavs win at least 2-3 or more games so I think they're out of reach anyway.

The Pistons likely go 4-8, taking the middle ground of a 3-5 win range, so that means Orlando is gone and they'd have to hope that OKC wins 3 games which we all know isn't bloody likely so they're destined for 5 which I've been pegging them for ever since the deadline.

In any event, this season can't end soon enough. I think most of us can agree that it's been exhausting following this team this season. Some positives with the youngsters but this season has been all about where they end up in the draft essentially especially once Weaver shuffled all the previous regime players out of here.

With Weaver it seems he is trying to balance the line between all out tanking and continuing to compete and play the right way so the young guys don't see it as us giving up on the season. It's certainly not an easy line to walk. I'm not sure what OKC is doing but sitting a young star is really the best thing for the franchise culture.

Yeah if we do get lucky in the lottery we will have a competitive culture for him to come too. I can't ever agree with sitting young guys to tank like some of these franchises.

I hate when these teams take us lightly sitting their players while we're actually a competitive bad team.
I was thinking the same thing but I looked and Sabonis didn't play last game so he's legit hurt and Myles Turner been out a couple games so that's legit. Besides, Indy is not in a position to be resting guys. It's just bad timing for us, that's all. Here's to Caris Levert going off.

I presume you were trying to say it's NOT the best thing for the culture, right?

Man we could legit pass up the Wolves. Finishing 2nd worst would be a blessing.

Woah, Minny beating Utah could be a game changer especially since the Pistons play them one more time and they'd win the tiebreaker if they beat the Pistons. They also play the Rockets and Magic so this could get a little interesting only if the Pistons lose to them. Still a longshot but the Utah win put them in play.

I don't think thats how the lottery tiebreakers are done is it? I believe they are just done by a coin toss

In the event that teams finish with the same record, each tied team receives the average of the total number of combinations for the positions that they occupy. In 2007, the Minnesota Timberwolves and the Portland Trail Blazers tied for the sixth worst record. The average of the 6th and 7th positions in the lottery was taken, resulting in each team getting 53 combinations (the average of 63 and 43). Should the average number not be an integer, a coin flip is then used to determine which team or teams receive the extra combination(s). The result of the coin flip is also used to determine who receives the earlier pick in the event that neither of the tied teams wins one of the first three picks via the lottery.

Tough to imagine us passing the Wolves while staying behind the Magic, since that depends in part on the Wolves beating Orlando while we also lose to Orlando. Plus we’d have to do some serious losing in general- more than I think we will.
