There’s never been a time in history when we look back and say that the people who were censoring free speech were the good guys.

The way future picks are traded, there is almost always trade protections. Likely top 5-8 protected. Call it the Billy King rule. If DLo, CJ, or even wiggins were expirings, plus picks, I could see us doing it. Cause if they don't work out, just move on and save on salary to try to sign someone else. But CLo, CJ, Wiggins aren't exactly cheap and have 2-3 years left.
Sixers are a top 3 seed if Embiid can play 70 or more games. That's a tall order unfortunately. Because he's never played 70 games. Simmons has at least this season managed to keep Sixers at .500 ball while Embiid has been out. I'm not sure those other guys can keep the Sixers at .500 with embed out multiple games. Thus they could end up with 5-6 seed depending how many games Embiid misses.
But you are right, the Sixers are a 2nd round exit with or without Simmons and healthy embiid. They could lose in the first round as well.
Well the idea is Minny is going to give the whole ball of wax, right? 4 picks and 3 swaps? So two of those are unprotected, one is top 4 protected, and the other is lotto protected. Then obviously no restrictions on the swaps. They can't be giving up garbage and expect protection on every pick.
JUST picks is starting to become a little to terrifying for me. I know Morey is good but I would rather get 2 picks and 2 swaps or even like a pick and 3 swaps then turn 2 other picks into a guy like sexton who we take a shot on being a break out guy
Well, McDaniels has some upside. Prince is good salary filler for a deadline deal.
But Beasley needs to be sent somewhere for a PG. no interest in that guy. If that cannot be done then the Wolves have to send Pat Bev instead IMO.

We can’t afford to go for a guy with “some upside” we need at least 1 crack at an all star potential guy. Doesn’t mean they have to pan out, but all picks could leave us really high and dry if all this stuff happening in the media makes players leave us completely off their lists

You can always trade picks for players. No one is available now, so they have to kick the can down the road here, so to speak, until someone is available.

Sure, until you can’t. And you could have had someone like sexton + 2 firsts and 2 swaps. I think multiple avenues is the way to go instead of pure picks

I actually disagree. Yeah there will be pressure, but this is a unique scenario. Very rarely do you see a star demand a trade out of a title contending team. Add on the fact that this player is a tough fit for almost every team in the league, makes 40m a year, and has 4 years on his deal. Owners will have the 76ers back. Harris can afford it. If there’s no deal to be had he will be here until the deadline

Josh Harris is a billionaire, he could easily eat Simmon's entire contract and just sit his butt for the next 4 years. Sixers already weren't attracting brand name free agents and our cap situation going forward means we're always going to be looking for vet min or MLE level guys who don't have as many options. Also, I'm not worried about the other agents holding this against the Sixers, pretty sure many competing agents would love to see Rich Paul's power blow up in his face between the Nerlen's suit and then one of his bigger clients seeing their careers wasted away b/c Paul tried to heavy hand a team that was in the drivers seat thanks to a 4 year contract. As a fan, I'm so fed up with Ben that I'd support the team ruining his career to spite him after he middle fingered all of us by refusing to admit and fix his freaking head and shooting. Let him ROT.HotelVitale wrote:Kuclas, strange that you’re still talking like we have some kind of leverage and can be the one pointing out flaws here. CJ not being on a good defensive team isnt the type of thing a team with a guy who first disappeared on his team and then refused to report to camp can harp on. It hits harder for them to point out those flaws in Ben as an asset than vice versa. I also don’t think you all should assume CJ is on the table. The blazers don’t want to trade Lillard’s companion in arms who just had his best season for a guy who again no showed in the PO and again failed to take any accountability for it. The team needs to impress Dame with how serious about a championship and how together they are, trading for Simmons and his flaws honestly seems like it’s likely to be punching the ticket for his exit.
Feels like you guys just keep repeating that hurting Ben's feelings + pocketbook is the win to focus on here. I'm annoyed at the guy and cool with him losing a few more paychecks, but that doesn't make him a more valuable asset and it only makes us worse.
In a vacuum I'm opposed to trading a talent like Simmons for one like McCollum, in large part cuz I don't think McCollum gets us over the top and he turns 30 in a couple of weeks. But in the past 6 months, Simmons is now not only confirmed as 'terrified of big moments/likely to disappear in the PO,' but also 'thin-skinned, mercurial, and maybe sort of toxic.' Dragging out a conflict that makes him look even nastier might buy us some more time for new trade interests to arise, but it's not going to make Ben's issues or deficiencies disappear any more. Dude is an asset in distress now and into the future.

We have to recoup some semblance of a scoring guard for him. If it's Malik Fkn Beasley, then all we can do is hope and pray he's a remorseful changed young man who is now grateful for his opportunity and second chance. After all that, I'd probably rather just have CJ or Collin Sexton.

I want one of CJ or Sexton. One that can be the best option we could get right away, one we take a chance on growing into a 25+ ppg scorer through Embiids prime

I'd rather have DLO than Beasley and I don't like DLO. At least he is an elite passer.

And honestly, Jarred Vanderbilt and Jaylen Nowell are more interesting pieces to me than anyone being discussed from the T’Wolves.

Re: Ben Simmons Trade Thread Part 4
Timberwolves are the only team we can fleece. They are desperate and going nowhere. They are in salary cap hell.
Simmons fits their team perfectly. Without a Simmons trade they will be looking at KAT trades next summer with him having 2 years left and will be in purgatory for another 10 years after that. Edwards isn't that good.
We need to fleece them and get 4 unprotected picks (22, 24, 26, 28), 2 pick swaps (23, 27 can't in 25 unfortunately) and McDaniels, Beasley and Prince. Beasley and Prince are not positive assets they are salary filler.
This is a "short" on the Timberwolves future. I don't believe in Simmons or D'Lo (I believe in KAT) and they have no depth. I think those picks will be golden and some of them will have more value than Simmons alone.
If Morey can't pull this off he needs to get fired. We should not accept any lower from the Timberwolves. They are the only desperate team around.

PA won't have any leverage nor will Klutch. It's a double edged sword, if PA or Klutch start trying to strong-arm teams with nearly full extensions left on the books then this league is headed towards a lock-out b/c owners WON'T tolerate that. PA and Klutch have skated on Lebron/Durant/AD and the like, but a lesser star like Simmons trying to pull this would be the straw that broke the camel's back.
Also, to address, showing that the team is ready to sit and let Ben rot for 4 years restores leverage with teams. The teams are just waiting for us to cave so they can lowball us. If we show we are ready and willing to let Ben rot then teams gotta up their offers to meet us at least halfway between their joke offers and our joke demands.
Sitting Ben might be the only way out of this mess at this point. Unless Ben swallows his pride (yeah right) and plays out so he restores some of his value.
