Anyone in Turner's shoes would complain about his role. He's being diminished and they're not winning.

Remember, 6th is essentially a starter. The Raptors don't have a 6. They have a lot of 7s-15s. The other picks don't matter, there's not that many spots left in the rotation to fill. If 6 is a guy that carries starter minutes like Harrison Barnes, you need even less from the rest.
Not that I want Barnes, but him plus year 3 Precious plus Birch is about all the rotation that Nick will permit anyway. And then you let Banton, Champagnie and minimums scrap for the rest.

Yeah, a lot of casuals here dismissing his game when his role has been relegated to spot up shooting in Indy. If these people did a bit of research and see how he’s performed without Sabonis in the line up, they’ll see his impact on both ends.

Send a message to the players that you want to win and believe in them. You trust them to develop and dont need any picks. Bring in Jak.
We are not giving away 2 picks for Jak/Turner.
Play it smart and stay patient. We can easily slip to play in spot and lose in first round or stay where we are and still lose in 1st round.

Trading a mid-to-late first to improve the roster adds depth since the pick is there instead of player assets.
I think we are much further along than early rebuild because of the large improvement shown by FVV, GTJ, and OG this year plus the addition of Barnes who is better offensively than most predicted. I think that when healthy this is a 50 win team who can challenge for the ECF but would be limited by holes up front and on the bench. Filling those holes with a low first round pick makes sense if possible. Drafting and signing free agents to fill the holes is not easy.
Agree on where we were when we got Serge.
But even if we're a 50 win team with say a free bench player (let's assume we could get Fournier and his **** deal for Dragic straight up the second we offer it), that's still probably not a real contender and if we are a 50 win team and feel good about re-upping our 3 free agents (OG, Fred, Trent) don't we project as a 55-60 win team in 2 years (with a decent bench) when Scottie is in year 3 but Fred and Siakam have yet to start their declines (assuming good health?).
I feel like that's when you move a first. IF we move a first this deadline I think it will be for someone we think will be on the team on a decent contract for the next couple years, or can be extended fairly easily, like Derrick White. We're not gonna burn a first for a move that doesn't definitely help us in the 2023 and 2024 playoffs, I don't think.

Turner would probably be a game changer even if he's 6th man, will he buy into being 6th man tho?
We need a guard more than anything.

But we arent going to trade a first and second for Jak/Turner. I agree we need another solid 6 and 7 rotation guys, we dont have those yet. The price of two picks at this stage of timeline and this year is shortsighted to me. If the team falls in the first round which is a major possibility, and has zero picks this year (we already dont have our 2nd), that's an underwhelming start to the off-season when this management team uses the draft to continue to grow and create assets.

1) Second round picks are just face-savers for GMs who fail to negotiate 1sts. There's not much value there. The Raptors have had more undrafted hits (Fred/TD) than second round hits (Norm). We now have guys that prefer to sign here when undrafted. Trade all the seconds, forever.
2) If it's the right player, then they shouldn't hesitate. We're not one player away, but we're also not one late round pick blowing up away. We have the most exciting rookie in the league, starting. This is all free money.

If we trade for Turner then he's starting. Barnes will move to the bench.

A guard to do what? play 10 minutes as a backup to FVV? that's all the room we could have left for that guard (disregarding the impact on Banton's 10 minutes)

There is room for 20-25 minutes a night. He doesn't just have to handle the point.
