It's the Celtics' fault to a certain extent too.

Maybe I'm wrong and he'll look awesome and won't take a beating. I just pray we don't turn him into Jim Plunkett or David Carr or Andrew Luck.

He looked ok. made some mistakes as you'd expect for his first start, but also made some really nice plays. took a few hits but his legs got him out of a few more. it's nice to have a QB who isn't a statue. the offense has way more big play potential with maye. needs to cut down on the mistakes, but you could say that for the whole team, not to mention the coaches.

pats are going to suck for a while, and the OL is going to take at least 2 years to fix. can't sit maye that long.

He was much better than I expected, I have to admit. We probably saw the best case scenario, especially considering it was against that nasty Texans defense. Unbelievable physical tools. The throws on the first and third TDs were so effortless, and it was great to see him unlock Douglas. Upcoming schedule doesn't look too bad as far as defenses are concerned. I no longer hate that he's starting, I just feel vaguely sour and nervous about it.

There were really good guards and tackles in this year's draft. They would get back to respectability more quickly if they rebuilt the offensive line first.

I 100% support starting Drake Maye. Jacoby Brisset is not good enough.

No respectability without a real QB (which is harder to get than a tackle) and the Pats got themselves one. But I'd sweep out Matt Groh along with the rest of the front office and AVP: Two years ago, his excuse for not getting one was that there was a quick run on them--and that's essentially their excuse for this past year as well.

They had more than enough draft capital to bag Maye and then move up enough to get a starting LT instead of Polk. (Decent WRs can be bought on the open market.)

For a first start, no RS, that oaf of an OC, and that sorry excuse of an OL, going against the Houston DL, he was amazingly good. The Pats' D gave the Texans their most points of the season, while Maye and his ragtags scored the 2nd most on them of any team so far this year.

This is awful, even if it isn't altogether unexpected. This guy has already seen too many injuries. Hopefully he can be back in a couple of weeks.

So I’m just watching Gil nem talk about Brony. The difference in other late picks like that, they don’t get 4 year/8m off top. People are going to talk. No one complained when they were hyping him up, now you can’t say anything bad because he was 55th and 19yo?

I still want him to succeed, nothing against him. I do understand why he’s getting criticism because it’s not just a 55th pick (they are laughing at lbj too).

Hype him like 55th and then criticize like he’s 55th. They hyped him like he should have been lotto. Lbj said he could whoop some of the NBA players before he left college (not exact words).

It’s just starting but this draft isn’t hot stuff yet. I like a few guys but I’m not invested. I don’t remember many guys from last draft so I was expecting some new youngins to come in hot. Boring.

Zack Edey is looking extremely impressive.. Can't believe some people said boston shouldn't take him with pick 30 if available. Some even said they wouldn't waste a second round pick on him..

Yeah, I was one with no interest. I haven't watched him yet, tbh, but it's not looking like one of my better calls, lol. I still think a good team plays him off the court a la Kanter, but we'll see.

I think it will be a lot closer to a steve adams then Enus freedom Kanter.. I actually think he has a chance to surpass Rudy Gobert..offensively he is probably better already.

C'mon man, I gotta cling to my take for at least half a season, lol. I'll definitely be interested to see how it plays out. Both those other guys have been played off the floor in the playoffs (some by Steph, so... not fair). But, they're obviously positive contributors. I may have focused on the downside too much.

Maye showed promise, but there are 2-3 "franchise" quarterbacks coming out every year, and I worry about Maye's ribcage on every play.

Watched his games so far, think he could be used even better. Ja and him are going to eat together. If he’s gonna eventually make 3s, whewww! If he can start rooting guys outta his way?? He has the potential to be very nice and he’s not as stiff as I thought he’d be.

Are we starting to get some bigs again or is it always going to be a little league from now on? Let the bigs come back please?!!

It'll be an an interesting draft class to watch because lots of older players sprinkled all over. I really think Knecht and da Silva will be very good NBA players. Edey at 9 was the biggest reach for me. If the C's took him at 30 I would have been fine with that.
