To get under the second apron, they need to move only one of Jrue, White or KP without taking any money back. If they have to take back money then they need to move Sam or Payton also.
Jrue makes $32.4 million, White $28.1 and KP $30.7 … KP is the most positionally important but also the most injury prone. While Jrue and Holiday are basically duplicates of each other. Probably we’re looking at losing atleast one of White or Holiday. And then paying #28 and #31 draft picks. Signing a big or two (ideally Luke and/or Al) to a veterans minimum contract and then elevating an existing 2way to a league minimum.
Or we are looking at making more wholesale changes… either moving two of White, KP, Holiday or moving Jaylen Brown…
I’d like to keep KP personally. He gives us the biggest potential impact next year and fulfills the greatest positional need and then he’s not signed after next season…
If we repeat, maybe we get to run it back one year in the 2nd apron, even though Wyc seemed to say that we will not be 2nd apron next year because of the basketball penalties
Here is a cap rundown if we trade Jrue Holiday with nothing come back.
1. Tatum $54.1
2. Brown $53.1
3. Kristaps $30.7
4. D.White $28.1
5. Hauser $10.1
6. Payton $7.7
7. Scheierman $2.7
8. Queta $2.4
9. Walsh $2.2
10. Drew Peterson $1.9
11. Pick #28 $2.7
12. Pick #31 $2
13. Vet minimum $2.2
14. Vet minimum $2.2

Roughly adds up to $202 million
2nd apron for next season: $207.8
If we traded Porzingis or White instead and kept Jrue, we’d also be under the 2nd apron
