Unless they already secretly interviewed him, I will say over.

With a long holiday weekend coming up, I wouldn't expect an announcement until next week.

Pelicans and Wizards are also still searching. I wouldnt worry about Washington, but New Orleans could also be interested in Atkinson.

everyone getting their hopes up. You know it's going to be a promotion from within. Because of COVID and down revenue, they'll want to go cheap. Give Delaney (or Corbin) a chance and continue with "continuity" to stay relatively in the hunt.

Once that happens, Weltman will resign in a year because he truly has no power.

Ideally speaking, do we want a coach before or after the draft? This is a very important draft and there are pros and cons having a coach give input on who to draft after all.

It would have been part of the interviews a out how the coach would approach management on drafts, trades and free agency. So that is a known by PBO Weltman and GM Hammond.

Question: when is the last time GM Hammond has been seen in public?

yeah, i have to agree with this. They shouldnt be the final say, but you definitely want your coach to have input. What if the GM says they could bring in playerX and the coach says, ive worked with them before and they dont have a team attitude or were always hurt or didnt run plays, etc.

They likely reached out to his agent to see if there was any interest. With that said since we haven't named a HC makes me believe he's a front runner and they wanted to wait. Now we just need a smoke signal that he interviewed

The only two things that makes sense...

Atkinson already interviewed and the national and local media simply missed it.

Atkinson told the Magic he would prefer to wait until the Clippers season ended.

Because obviously the Clippers let Billups interview during the playoffs, so they wouldn't have been standing in Atkinson's way.

going to be really bummed if it's not Atkinson. Like someone else said it's a match made in heaven
