That is a pretty damn good player, no? I mean if Gafford could have picked and popped and not just picked and rolled...

Also, I think that Sarr could eventually be much better at setting screens - I never felt that was one of Gafford's strengths (but I might be projecting).

Agreed on Kuzma. But, I think Kuzma becomes more valuable as time goes on (with his contract). Agreed we should trade him for picks... but maybe at the deadline?

And if we can S&T Jones for more draft capital - heck yeah!

First off, you always take the best player available. You never do otherwise. No exceptions. Period.

Plus, in our case, we don't have a roster, "our roster," for Reed Sheppard to fit or not fit.

We have, at most, 2 players whom we feel some confidence of wanting 2 years from now: Avdija & Coulibaly.

The other young guys are no more than question marks -- at best. The veterans are all for sale.

Even if we add players at all 3 of our pick spots, they still won't suffice to give our roster a particular shape, to characterize our roster long-term.

Just do our best to take the BPA over & over & see what the roster looks like. If we do a good job at that, we will be adding assets we can use in trades to reshape our roster. To give it the shape we want.

Gafford sets screens for Luka just fine.

I'll go out in a limb and say Sarr won't be as good as Lively.

All things being equal, yeah, maybe he gets more valuable. OTOH, the longer we wait to trade him, the less is left of his current contract, which cuts the other way, no...?

If a deal we like is there, don't hesitate. Too many external factors involved to wait.

For sure, Lively looks like one of the bigger bargains of the 2023 draft.

You don’t agree with that comp? Rashard Lewis maybe?

Danm I'd like to trade our 3 picks for Portland's 4 picks!

Sheppard, Salaun, Topic, or Castle at 7.
Devin Carter, Edey, Missi, or Collier at 14.
Pacome Dadiet at 34 -- or...?
KJ Simpson at 40.
Enrique Freeman undrafted.

Is it just me...?

Of course you would because their picks have way more value than ours considering the draft we’re in. Picking 2nd overall in this draft is no man’s land

Kuz is a thick PF/SF who does his best offensive work in the half court. Risacher looks to be a lean SG/SF who will excel in the open court.

Lewis was a great shooter. But he wasn’t a particularly good playmaker or defender.

Yeah, I like it. 2, 26, 51 for 7, 14, 34, 40 ? I think I may have suggested that before but the response was we would have too many rookies.

Here's a good podcast all about the Wizards draft featuring draft expert William Harris:

7: Topic (hypothetical world where teams are scared off by injury concerns)
14: Dadiet (still think he’s going to continue to rise)
16: Daron Holmes (Kuzma goes to Philly)
36: KJ Simpson
40: Jonathan Mogbo

Also, listened to Barlow's NBA BIG BOARD podcast, and the episode was on potential 2nd round steals. A player he was touting that I wasn't familiar with was 6-10 big man Zacharie Perrin from France.

I've since watched some stuff on him, and he is intriguing. I'd definitely be interested in him at 51.

NBA DRAFT ROOM:
Draft Notes
Perrin is a high energy forward who impacts all aspects of the game. The former Illinois recruit has a solid frame and is a naturally strong player who isn’t afraid to throw his weight around. He’s also a decisive and quick mover, screener and cutter who always looks like he knows what he’s doing on the court and makes good, quick decisions.

He’s not an elite level athlete or above the rim player but is very crafty, tough and skilled.

He’s got a decent perimeter shot, can face-up and beat his man off the bounce and gets above with rim with his size and length.

That works! Although why not wait to trade Kuz? Also, we could sweeten the deal by taking on some of Portland's payroll (although it might not be needed).
