Re: The Jonas Valanciunas Thread
I'm happy with the pick. Never thought I would be, but I see something different in Jonas than a guy like Bargnani or Donatas. Seeing Asik's impact in the playoffs makes me more intrigued in Val, he's easily better than Asik and if you match him up with Ed nobody will be walking into our paint anymore.
PG
DeRozan
SF
Davis
Valanciunas
We're set up pretty nicely for the future, but we still need a little bit more star power. We need to acquire a franchise type player at the PG or SF position if we want to win a title.

Re: The Jonas Valanciunas Thread
Like a few others , I expected BC to pick Biyombo or Knight.
Honestly, I simply assumed Jonas would be gone by the time we were up.
So I'm happy with this pick and glad that we not only went with the BPA but it also fills a need.
Overall a win-win situation. Granted, like all drafts , this isn't a sure thing. He could still be a bust. We don't know and we'll have to see how it plays out.
But I have been very happy with the past 3 drafts.
In fact, including this year's pick, I firmly believe we've drafted a player that will end up being ranked higher than we drafted him. For all the grief BC gets, I am giving him credit where I believe it's deserved.

Re: The Jonas Valanciunas Thread
will people stop with the spurs wanted him, so he's good theory.....Its based on nothing! Just a rumor about them wanting to move up to select Val, guess what they moved up and picked Leonard. I guess maybe they just wanted to move up to select one of the guys they liked, not valanciunas for sure.

Re: The Jonas Valanciunas Thread
Tbh, Jonas wasn't my first choice but am glad with the pick. I feel now thinking about it he's the best fit among the C's in the draft to play beside Davis and happy that he's not playing right away as he still needs time to develop, the biggest question is hopefully he can fill out his frame a bit more by the time he plays here.
Masai's to do list

I completely agree, although I see it more as:
PG
Derorzan
SF
Bargnani
Valanciunas
Plug in a offenseive guy at one open spot, an defensive guy at the other and we are set. One more draft and this will be the most complete rebuild in Raptors history. We have secured a slasher at the 2, a scorer at the 4, a defensive guy with inside presence at the 5. Get your stopper and superstar at the open position, and this team is ready to compete.

Re: The Jonas Valanciunas Thread
This is definitely a rebuild. We have 3 core young players in Ed, Demar, and Jonas. Bargs is a lot more expendable right now and he'll definitely be used as trade bait in the future. We get a good wing or PG who can create his shot in next year's draft and we're pretty set. Have them all grow under defensive minded Casey. By the time they become vets we'll be solid.

Just going by the games I've seen of Val he doesn't have nearly the defensive instincts and IQ to match up with Asik.

1. I never said Leonard would go fifth
2. BC said had Jonas went before our pick, they had moves lined up ...some to involve either moving back or acquiring another pick and movi another player
3. I thought you were done, why are you for looking for reasons to stay?
4. I never said it was going to happen, I was nearly passing on info from my legit source.. I guess I should post a "You Mad?" pic cause your jealous that all you got is your little sister tugging at your drawstrings for inside info.
You're full of horse dung...
SkinnyP wrote:I am pretty certain we are drafting Leonard, like 99.9% certain. It may not be the fifth pick, we may trade down or acquire another pick to get him, but he will be a raptor.
Don't forget I was also the first one to say who our new head coach was gonna be.

He is going to be able to defend, and we need defence. I dont love the guy, but wont cry in my alphabits if we draft him.
I really think we will be grabbing at least two players from the first round. We will be the POR of this years draft class.

Who is your source The Raptor mascot? lol.... You have no source...

2012 SF Picks... Barnes, Quincy Miller, Gilchrist
I like to see what Kahn does next year if Minny gets a top 5 pick. I know it is early but the top 7 picks are projected to be 3/4s.

If Valanciunas ends up as a bust, BC is 100% guilty for this.
No excuses, if any of the guys picked after us like Burks Walker Biyombo, Knight end up being better his ass needs to get fired.

Numerous posters have already proved Valaciunas plays nothing like Bargnani.
I know he doesn't. But hes still a pansy European whose weakness once again is his strength.

Clever coming from the guy who has a BK sig and confuses "our" with "are". I better not hear you of all people making fun of Jonas' English.

I can't stand the high praise of Biyombo and I would much rather him over Jonas.

Well, he's 19, he's still a kid. The European part doesn't have much to do with it. He'll bulk up fine.

95% of the rookies have strength problems.

I don't mind the pick...if anybody wants a good laugh read the Cavs board on their opinion of Tristan over Jonas.
