If Magic don't get a first from Philly by 2016, they get two second-round picks, league source said.

The first-round pick going from the Sixers to Magic is lottery-protected for two years, top-11 protected in yr 3, top-8 protected in yr 4.
so if the sixers suck for next couple of years they don't even get a first from them. amazing.

I love it, screw Morey.
Spencer Hawes?
An overpaid Omer Asik?

might be one of the worst trades in the history of the league for any team from Orlando's perspective and I know there were quite a few doozy's in the NBA's history. Even the financials aren't all that great for Orlando. What. the. heck.

Steve Nash and Dwight Howard running the pick-and-roll is scary all by itself. Kobe Bryant and Pau Gasol in the same lineup is terrifying.

I like being the underdog against teams like LAL and Miami, wouldn't have it any other way.

Good, because as long as the Lakers keep getting deals like this, it won't be any other way

Re: OT: Dwight A Laker Soon? [Woj]
This deal is pretty strange for almost all parties included.....Maybe not the Lakers....
Lakers- They needed to upgrade there defense from last year and Howard is an upgrade over Bynum. So I think the Lakers win. They didn't give up much to go from the second best center to the best center. And Howards defense is way better than Bynum...
Nuggets- They needed a major upgrade in perimeter defense and I think they have done that. They have also changed in one average contract and a bad contract for a pretty decent contract in Iggy. The negative they really traded away there 3 point shooting. Outside of maybe Gallo (if he finds his shot) they have no consistent 3 point shooter. That will be a major weakness for them. Smart move I think might be to expand the deal with the Magic and use there TPE to get JJ for his outside shooting. In that playoffs that could become a major problem. Also my other problem with what the Nuggets did is they helped a West team land Howard.
76ers- Everyone seems to think the 76ers killed it in this deal. I am not 100% sold on that. They changed out there best defender for Bynum. The changed out there team leader for Bynum. They changed out there heart and soul for Bynum. Bynum so far in the NBA has had some big injuries that have kept him out of a ton of games. He has also had a I will play when I want attitude and disappears in big games like last year against Dever McGee out played him in a number of those games after his triple double. I think the 76ers will be better in post offense but they will be worse in play making on the wing and I think there team defense will take a big hit. On offense they will now be a dump it in the post type offense. We shall see how Bynum responds with that kind of responsibility.
Magic- WTF ??? 5 picks are nice but they will all be late first rounds or second round picks. They got no real major prospect back. They got one over paid role player in Harrington and one solid role player on a decent contract in Afflalo after that they didn't get anything. They only were able to dump one contract in Richardson. Seems like this is the worst deal possible for the Magic.

Re: OT: Dwight A Laker Soon? [Woj]
Maybe it's just me, but everybody involved got exactly what they wanted.
Lakers trade Bynum for Howard and keep Pau....like they wanted
Philly gets the star they crave
Denver gets the better player in the deal.
Orlando gets to trade Dwight where they wanted, and take back cap relief in not paying J-Rich or Duhon, get a few picks, two players they like in Affalo and Moe
Everyone really got what they wanted.

Respect for Jerry Buss, this is how you run a NBA franchise. Let's not kid ourselves, the rage we feel right now is not against them, is against us. We're the biggest market of the NBA and we're run by a bunch of clowns.

I feel absolutely no rage towards the Lakers. I always thought Dwight was ending up there, and I'm glad Kobe is going to get another shot at a ring.
I just wonder why every team rushes to do them favors. It's not hating, just wondering.
The Lakers success has absolutely nothing to do with the Knicks.

So the other 28 teams in the NBA should be raging as well?

Exactly what I was thinking. We should be a lot tougher defensively than LA and can potentially be as good defensively as Miami.

Re: OT: Dwight A Laker Soon? [Woj]
The only way this deal makes any sense for Orlando is if they think Howard's back will be a long-term problem.
Otherwise, they got utterly hosed - and will be now starting over with a bunch of junk, and relatively few prime assets.
