You have to call a spade a spade.

I didn't think the Celts would beat the Nets without Rob.

But Rob played, so we'll never know for sure.

Hindsight is always 20-20.

You don't think the fact we went up 2-0 without Rob and then beat them handily with Rob only playing 15 minutes gives even a HINT as to who would have won the series?

The prediction was made before the series started.

Can't fast forward to when the Celts were up 2-0 because when the prediction was made, it was 0-0.

Here's the thing, I overestimated the Nets.

So I would most probably end up being wrong about how long the series would go because I said Celts in 6.

Right now it's looking like a sweep or 4-1.

So the Nets were going to rattle off 4 in a row and reverse sweep us? There’s nothing else that adds up to your “Nets in 6 without Rob” prediction considering the reality of our first 2 wins without him. And you’re going to die on that hill saying he is back now so we’ll never know and you feel good about making that argument saying somehow this makes you right? None of this jumps out to you as the reason why people call you out either?

Two things jump out for me… 1.) this is like when one of my kids keeps changing rules to a game they’ve made up so they can win and 2.) mentally you’re conditioned to think negatively (Nets will beat us) but realize always doubting your team is counter-intuitive to actually being a fan of that team so you rationalize a Nets in 6 prediction so as not to sound too negative. But your need to feel validated on an internet message board made up of men and women who love the same team as you do prevents you from actually taking a hard stand and not some move the goalpost prediction. When reality is you are validated simply because we all love the same team, prediction aside, and your need to be right even when you were wrong is what’s put ahead of that. I’ve been on this board in active or lurking capacity for almost 20 years… I suggested the Victory Cigar thread because I stole the idea from the Pacers board and we previously didn’t have a thread like it, so I’m not some newb who doesn’t read the posts. The amount of people I’ve seen on here who disagree with things about the team, often vehemently, but are able to still come together and forgot about those differences to even celebrate a meaningless January game are countless. I’ve also seen far too many cases of guys who put their need to be right, even when they’re wrong, ahead of rooting for the Celtics prevent them from truly celebrating the victories. If they win in less than 6 I hope you can admit you were wrong and realize this is an amazing place to talk about the best basketball franchise in the world. Many fans wish their team had the activity ours does. Unless you die on a hill for every hot take you have I promise you nobody is going to care when you’re wrong about something. We literally all have done it more than once.

I can't imagine posting 4,342 times in only a year and a few months and yet basically just being a troll on the message board for no reason. I guess it makes sense, on the other hand, someone *that* active must be either a superfan or a troll and superfans don't pick against their own team. :eek1:

Instead of saying that you’re more willing to say the Nets could win 4 in a row, and then wondering why people point out your wrong takes and let others go without mention. It’s because they admit when they were wrong and don’t double down instead.

That's because you don't know the whole story.

Before the series started, I said Nets in 6 if Rob TOTALLY does not play the whole series.

I said Celts in 6 if Rob is able to play in the series.

You can check, it's in the Game 1 thread.

So where did I end up being wrong?

Just own up to it lol. Like a kid caught with his hand in the cookie jar still denying he was trying to get a cookie

ANYWAYS…

It will be nice for Rob to hopefully get a full game of playing time before facing the Bucks. Also it’s one thing to not be sore after practice 5v5 but it’s another to see how you feel after 30 minutes of a playoff game. If we can pull off the sweep Rob should get quite a few days before game 1 which will be good

I wonder what the ramp up looks like for Rob - thought he'd play more than 14 min tonight

Hopefully back closer to ~25min by the start of round 2 and normal after a few games. Need him in the crunch time lineup, especially against Giannis

The initial timetable was 4-6 weeks. He came back a few days before the 4 week mark. So I'm not too worried about it.

I'm sure this extra rest we have before the next series gets started will be good for him.
Nothing wrong with having a different opinion - as long as it's done respectfully. It'd be lame if we all agreed on everything :)

It couldnt have worked out better.

Williams comes in, played 10-15 minutes. Didn't have a huge impact, but gave Boston back up minutes. NOw, het gets six more days to rest.

Someone had a great point on the radio the other day. It goes back to old NBA players vs. current NBA players. Current NBA don't play.

If you are an 18 and 8 player, but are limited and can give you 12 and 5, the new NBA player doesn't play until they are 18 and 8.

For Rob. He is limited. He can't give Boston pre-injury Rob Williams yet. But he can give them 10 minutes.

I'm guessing you're a little kid? If that's the case I feel kinda bad how much you're getting tooled on and how bad you look on here.

I'm not here to look good, I'm here to talk Celtics basketball.

It's just my opinion that I didn't think the Celts could beat the Nets if Rob doesn't play in the series.

Besides, none of the posters here predicted the Celts would sweep the Nets.

I love that he took the shot with no hesitation. Usually his midrange attempts are more like: well there's 5 seconds left on the shotclock nobody is open and they are not pressuring me so I guess I have to take this.
