Wow, have they talked to any other guys that often? That has to be a good sign right? Getting in for a second interview usually means you are close to getting the job

A report a few days ago had them interviewing Billups, Ham, and Udoka for second interviews.

With the Bucks advancing, Bud likely saved his job. Seems to me Carlisle is in play for us then. I know others have said he's not a great fit and the Cs prefer a minority candidate, but he's the most proven coach on the market. Seems a little weird for Steven's to be Carlisle's boss though, less so than a younger less experienced guy like Udoka or others.

Udoka is interesting, lots of time in the spurs system under Pops.

Must have learned something

Goodman on Udoka -

"I talked to someone who's been with him for an extended period of time, and they described him as a guy with an edge," Goodman continued. "Not a hardass, but a guy with an edge: defensive-minded, tough, adaptable, young, can really connect with the players."

I like those qualities

It's up to Udoka. He picks his assistants. He can choose to keep some or all of the previous celtics assistants or start fresh with new guys..

Anyone else think Ginobili would make a good coach? Udoka played with Ginobili in San Antonio and he also coached Ginolobili when Udoka coached in San Antonio. Maybe Udoka can bring on Ginobili as an assistant.

I could see Manu being a really good assistant. The dude oozes passion and knowledge for the game of basketball - he always raised the level of his game come playoff time, very well respected by coaches/teammates he had in San Antonio, was very loyal to Spurs organization, staying with them his entire career, comes across very poised, articulate, humble in the media, smiley guy who seems like he gets along with everyone but at the same time was a fierce competitor on the court. Played in 4 NBA finals, winning 4 of them. Defensive mentality - was one of the league's best defenders during his prime. And since he was such a fierce competitor, I can se Manu really getting our players fired up!
Nothing wrong with having a different opinion - as long as it's done respectfully. It'd be lame if we all agreed on everything :)

This video makes me feel good about Udoka coaching this team:

Love the quote "My idendity and the identity of my team is gonna be a hard nosed team. everyone's gonna know coming in that night it's going to be a battle, a hard fought game"

Love that because as we all know, this past season nobody feared the Celtics when they played against us. Every damn team (even the Pistons, Cavs and Thunder) when they came to play against us, they played us with no fear, as if our opponent always thought they could beat us.

Also, the reporter asks him what his coaching style is and the first 2 words out of his mouth are, "team basketball" followed by "unselfishness"...love this part too because too many times this season we played disconnected, like we were 5 individuals out there rather than 1 TEAM, and often times our opponent seemed to play as more of a unit, more connected.

"it all starts with caring for each other - on and off the court"....love this, especially given all the crap we're seeing in the media right now about guys telling Blake Griffin to not come to the Celtics, Kemba being given exercises to do on his knee and not doing them, lack of togetherness we saw from this team, etc.

"I want a tough, physical, aggressive team" this quote is awesome because clearly our team this season (other than rare occasions where Smart or Thompson got down, dirty and physical) for the most part was a very soft team.

Plus, Stevens was quoted recently saying the types of players he wants to add to the roster this offseason are "experienced, with size, tough, physical" so clearly Udoka is on that same page with bringing more of a tough/physical mentality to this Celtics team which needs it since we were too soft this past season - I mean, people were saying we were soft all season (pretty sure there was a lot of games dudes sat out with injury where they could have played if they toughed it out), and that was before Kyrie stomped on our logo and no one retaliated, Durant plays mad dirty with Tatum, shoving him, poking him in the eye yet we just took it without retaliating, Kemba smiling when we're down by 20, etc.

He says all of the right things in this video, seems like just what we need. Plus he played the wing as a player - our 2 stars are wings. He coached our star players on team USA 2 years ago. He's young, he's black (which will make Brown happy if you saw his tweet..)

are you saying that you think Manu wouldn't coach because he's too happy/content hanging out with cute puppies? :)

If it's a toss up between Ime and Billups, just call the Jays and see whom they prefer.

I've just refreshed the page again and read "Welcome to Boston, Mike Brown!" (It was still Moses, but I shook my head for a moment.)

Or maybe he's well practiced for cuddling the Jays?

Seems like the former PG Billups might go and coach the star PG Lillard, and the former wing Udoka might go to Boston and coach a duo of star wings Tatum/Brown..
