26 year old Mo Bamba? Love this signing. Feels good to have some flexibility again!

7ft w a 7’10” wingspan, can never get over those measurements. Hope we use him right and we get a good backup center out of him. At that size, protect the rim, crash the board and catch lobs is all we need. Stop trying to be a 3 point shooter.

At career 36% 3PT, 38. 4% his last 177 games (5.1 attempts/36), his ability to space is actually a very good thing, gives your team a different pick and roll look and the ability to go 5 out when needed without having to go small.

Definitely dig the Mo Bamba pick up.. Whats up Minnesota? Wanna play for that WCF spot? : )

Upgrade over Plumlee, in all likelyhood.

I don't care what the media is saying.. this is turning out to be a progressive, fun off-season for the Clips

Really clearing house on the players that didn't work or don't bring enough of what the team needs.

The media doesn't get it and is like "what are the clippers doing? what are they in the west?" in such an ignorant/dismissive way... -- the league got tired of the overspending to stack stars, and now its more difficult to do that, so teams have to balance themselves out and get more creative.

Gonna be neat to see a matrix/comp. chart of the main roster to end of last seasons roster -- later in the month/August after the moves are rounding down.

I thought this guy was a shoo-in for stardom. #6 overall pick, a superplus NBA body, and speaks like a college professor. But you can be too smart to be a pro athlete I guess. Better to just be smart enough...

I liked him with the Sixers and the percentages are there in limited duty [49%/39%], but he has that maddening habit of disappearing for long stretches and falling behind the action, so he got lost behind Embiid and Sixers fan favorite "Basketball Paul" Reed. But at the moment he's going to be handed our backup center job, and with some coaching up, maybe the fog will lift and he'll break through. He's only just 26 and has almost 6000 NBA minutes under his belt. He should at least be able to eat up some of the non-Zubac minutes without killing us out there, which is all we got from Plumlee and sometimes Theis.

Nice dumpster dive, FO.

Would have to be, for now... DJJ, Mann, Batum, Bamba : )

Obviously at times Harden/Kawhi.

Batum and to a lesser degree Mann have had some big shots made in recent seasons, at least, to lean on.

I hope Powell sticks around, to be honest.. guy can ball and is clutch. Undersized defender but is stout and gives effort.

He should not be traded for Kris Dunn, as much as I like Dunn as a big role-playing PG. Hopefully geting a R1 pick back or something if Powell is traded.

Plumlee was awful, so I think this is an upgrade for sure. These value pickups of D Jones, KPJ, Nic Batum, and now Mo Bamba are great finds imo. But not sure if it makes up for the loss is Paul George.

We'll see if a trade to consolidate for a wing/PF is incoming, however.

Now we're starting to "jump the shark" with these signings. Dunn isn't really needed on a team loaded at the guard spot and Mo Bamba is flat out awful. Where is the Kai Jones signing a?

I agree that maybe there is a bit of "panic buying". But I think the players actually fit well with the roster. Mo Bamba played his minutes with De'Anthony Melton or Tyrese Maxey as their main ball handler. Not exactly true point guards by any stretch of the imagination. But with James Harden, he might actually get some alley oop opportunities. He can also block shots and rebound, and potentially hit some 3-pointers. Not a bad backup center option when our previous backup 5 was a washed up Mason Plumlee.

Westbrook will be gone, and we need someone that plays tough D as a guard. Harden has never been accused of being a good defender. As a Rockets fan, I can assure you KPJ is not a defensive stalwart either. Norm Powell would be a starting level of guard if he could actually defend, but he can't that's why he's a perennial 6th man candidate. Terrance Mann is good on D, but is argyuably closer to a SF, and possibly not a good enough shooter to be playing as a guard at all. Not a single player in our guard rotation is actually a plus on defense, so Kris Dunn helps us out in that respect at the very least.

We need fresh blood, with new attitudes with new potential for leadership. We dont get leadership from the head coach. I think Van Gundy might bring some of that which I am excited to see. Someone on the bench who will actually coach instead of just staring into the abyss which is what I see from Lue most of the time

These late additions are like a new theme "hard nose, tough to beat". Can't see Bones&Norm fit in anymore. I think FO looking to add some shooting with size.

Bamba is and has always been better on paper than on the court. He’s one of those guys that is bright but has no feel for the game. Massively physically gifted, but not an instinctive basketball player at all. He’s a good backup; expecting or wanting more out of him is a mistake.

I don’t think the question is whether Terance Mann is redundant. I think it’s a question of fitting the puzzle pieces together. Our second most talented guard right now is Kevin Porter, Jr., who is coming off of felony charges. Mann doesn’t move the needle in any direction. Kris Dunn does—he was/is a great pickup—but the question is whether he can stay together physically for 1200+ minutes. Bones is the youngest and has upside … but with Dunn, Harden, and Westbrook, he’s the least essential piece. Something's gotta give.

Like I said earlier, a lot hinges on Porter. If he’s capable, then we’ve got two pretty valuable two trade chips from among our guard stockpile, plus an expiring contract in PJ. Could we put together something for, maybe, John Collins? Possibly.

Instead of name/pedigree hunting they’re actually building a team. Out with the old and in with the new. Finally we’re getting younger, more athletic, and loading up defensively.

There’s a lot of pieces for sure. We’re starting to see what the puzzle may look like but have to wait a little longer for the complete picture. It’s quite obvious a trade or two is coming soon.

I think Kai Jones will be signed when some of the clutter clears out. A center rotation of Zu/Bamba/Jones might not strike fear in other teams but it’s certainly better than Zu/Plumlee/Theiss/Tucker.

I do worry about the PF position and deadly shooter (if Powell is headed out) off the bench.

That’s where my mind went when that rumor said we’re trying to explore options with Utah and Dunn.

I’d love to have Mann be a Clipper for life and he will never be ‘expendable’, but I think he is not nearly as invaluable as he was prior to all these moves.

He was the one younger, more athletic defensive point of attack and overall hustle guy on a team of aging stars, but it’s a different team now. He could now at least be conceivably moved as a trade asset to improve the team overall.

It would hurt me inside to see him in a different jersey next season. But that’s just a part of the NBA.

I think Norm needs to stay unless a really good deal comes along- they will need his shooting and overall scoring even more now with pg gone. Although he’s a subpar defender, he is tough and has a positive attitude

It’s a little long but great explanation into what the Clippers might be doing with Dunn.

If you click on the first one it has 5-6 follow up scenarios.
