A lot of people are convinced it's Tucker. Guess we shall see shortly.

BB is really loading up on the UW assistants.
Tom Lea @ESPNTomLea
Ben Herbert, UW's strength and conditioning coach, is headed to Arkansas. He'll handle the same duties there. #Badgers

F*ck you, Bielema.
"I probably won't take more than 1 or 2"
Douche.
And no thanks to Campbell, not the type of hire I'm hoping for.

I'd rather have Barry come back than hire Campbell.

Yup. If you can't land CP, Tucker or Diaco-- just let Barry coach for a year or two until the HC market is better and less chaotic.

So you want Barry to hire a whole new staff, coach this year, hire a new coach next year....if this new coach is worth a damn he will want to hire his own people. That will be 4 major staff turnover in four years.

I'd prefer that to hiring a lame duck candidate and living with him and his staff for the next several years.

Apparently, we interviewed Utah State's Gary Andersen.

I like this potential hire WAY better than that Campbell rumor. He has turned around that Utah State program pretty impressively. 48 years old.

Utah State coach Gary Andersen has interviewed for the Wisconsin head coaching job, according to a source with direct knowledge of the interview.
Andersen led Utah State to an 11-2 record this season and a 6-0 mark in the WAC. He's considered a strong candidate for the Wisconsin job, which is expected to be filled by the end of this week.

My list of realistic targets:
1) Tucker
2) Anderson
3) Campbell
I would be totally fine with Tucker. I really think he would do a fine job here. I can't believe a guy who coached for 1 year is a candidate in Campbell. Don't know what to think if he gets hired.
Obviously, CP is #1, but let's be honest, the chance is slim.

My biggest concern would be recruiting, doing more with less is Ok, but I would refer someone who can do more with more. He will have to find a new offensive coordinator to come here, the spread simply doesn't fit UW. I think finding the right O-coordinator who runs a pro style offense and can develop a QB is right up there with recruiting.

Re: Badgers: Golden reportedly says thanks but no thanks - 3
The University of Wisconsin is set to hire Utah State's Gary Andersen as the Badgers' next football coach.
A source close to the football program told the State Journal on Tuesday night it is a done deal: Andersen is UW athletic director Barry Alvarez's choice to succeed Bret Bielema, who left to become the head coach at Arkansas.
Multiple sources earlier in the day pointed to Andersen as the leading candidate and indicated a final decision could come quickly.
The sources talked on the condition of anonymity, because the coaching search is ongoing and no official announcement has been made.
Utah State, currently No. 18 in the Associated Press poll, finished the season 11-2 overall. That included a 6-0 record and first-place finish in the Western Athletic Conference.
Alvarez got an up-close look at the Aggies when they nearly upset the Badgers at Camp Randall Stadium this season, missing a 37-yard field goal attempt with 6 seconds remaining as UW hung on for a 16-14 victory.
Andersen was named Utah State's head coach on Dec. 4, 2008, after five seasons as the assistant head coach, defensive coordinator and defensive line coach at Utah. He helped guide the Utes to a 13-0 record in 2008, when they finished No. 2 in the Associated Press poll after beating Alabama 31-17 in the Sugar Bowl.
In his four years at Utah State, Andersen, 48, has a 26-22 overall record. He took over a program that was a combined 9-38 the previous four seasons.
He was reported to be a candidate for several coaching openings, with his name coming up at Colorado, Kentucky and California.
After a pair of 4-8 seasons, Andersen's program turned the corner last year, closing the regular season with five straight wins and a berth in the Potato Bowl, the school's first bowl game since 1997. That team finished 7-6. The seven wins and five league victories were the most at the school since the 1993 season.
Andersen's hiring is a surprise, because his name has not come up in the coaching search prior to this and his team runs a spread offense. Alvarez has made it clear he doesn't want to convert to a spread offense.
"I don't have any problem with our scheme," Alvarez said recently. "I don't perceive us as a spread them out, fast pace, no huddle, one back, five wides. I don't see us doing that because that's not the type of kid we can consistently recruit and we have to remember that.
"You know what the plan is. It starts with those big palookas up front."
But Andersen came up mostly as a defensive coach — specifically, the defensive line.
He would likely have no problem changing his offensive style to suit UW, if that's what Alvarez wanted.
Utah State ranks No. 33 nationally in scoring offense, averaging 34.9 points per game, and No. 23 in total offense, averaging 469.1 yards per game.
The Aggies have been even better on defense, ranking eighth in scoring, allowing an average of 15.4 points per game, and 15th in yards, giving up 322.1 per game.
In 2008, Andersen was named a finalist for the Broyles Award, given to the top assistant coach in college football. He was also named a Rivals.com top 10 non-BCS recruiter that year and picked as the No. 1 non-BCS recruiter by Rivals.com in 2005.
Overall, he spent 11 years as an assistant coach at Utah and coached 14 first-team all-conference players.
After coaching the Utes from 1997 to 2002, he spent one season as the head coach at Southern Utah in 2003, before returning to Utah the following season. At Utah, he was a part of seven winning bowl teams, including two BCS bowls.

Sounds like he was more of a defense-oriented guy even though they run a spread. Also is apparently good at finding underrated in-state type guys. Bernman has a boner.

Some of you guys will love that he gained his experience as a HC mostly at "Romney Field."

Reminds me of the Minnesota hire in that he should have beat the Badgers at Camp Randall, just like Jerry Kill beating the Gophers before taking the Minnesota job. (That comparison was for you Grendon.

Yes, it is his father's cousin. It's a really really big family.

Nobody cares about Minnesota comparisons
