It's impossible to know that until they at least play 1 season. Wasn't 2014 draft full of "sure shots" too?
When lot of players are close to talent it can mean two thing:
a) all of them are really that good ( 1996, 2003, 1984 ), in other words -highly unlikely
b) non of them are really that good to make himself nobrainer as 1# pick

If you go back and read some of reports about 2014 nba draft ( or 2015 for that matter ) you will laugh your a** off. Gary Harris and Jokić are pretty much better than 80% of lottery picks from that draft, one was non lottery pick, other second round pick.

It's impossible to know what?

I made a few points in my post. Some were general comments about the draft class. Some were specific comments on one player. Some where thoughts on my personals feelings on draft strategy.

Your reply doesn't seem to specifically follow anything I said.

about this

"To compliment follow up me previous point on the lack of clear cut future stars, I also see a lack of obmismal picks. In all recent drafts there has been at least one guy that I absolutely HATED and saw as a complete bust. I don't really see that in any of the top names here."

As every draft, this one will probably have busts in top 10 picks.

Ok, thanks for clarrifying.

Yes, you are absolutely right that history says it is statistically unlikely that all top 10 picks will work out. There will be busts.

But that wasn't my point.

I can't tell the future. I don't know what will happen. I can only talk about how I feel about the players in the draft.

In recent years there was always at least one guy getting crazy hype that just didn't work for me AT ALL. Not even a little bit. I want nothing to do with that guy no matter where we draft.

I don't feel that way about any of the top names this year. Yes, busts will happen but I'm at a loss as to who is most likely this year.

Lonzo Ball not Lavar in the media saying he rather play for Lakers than be the number one pick.

I'm officially off the bandwagon.

In what world is Tatum a bad fit?

So every win now is considered a moral victory cause it hurts the pingpong balls, right?

Yeah exactly. I can see the argument for Fox because his jumper is questionable just like our current PG. But come on man, Tatum would be a great fit at SF for us.

i think we should go pg with one of our second rounders......kobi simmons? he's a scoring combo guard i know but if we keep elf around he can backup or play off ball with elf, a nice compliment to a pass-onl....er...uh... pass-first guard like elf

I think the argument for Tatum is that he's better as a PF, so he would be redundant with Gordon. I don't know if I believe it or not, but it's a pretty common idea in the NBA Draft forum.

Wow, really? I can't imagine Tatum not playing SF on about any team.

Yeah Ball is a no-go option in my opinion. The last thing this franchise needs, whether it's under Rob or a different GM, is another few years of questions being asked about when their (potentially) best player will leave.

This coupled with the crazy dad, the weird 'Brand Ball' agent / marketing decisions, the better than Jordan comment, etc. It's not worth the hassle.

Orlando's greatest need is a wing upgrade. I am all for jackson, Tatum, or Isaac as the outcome of the draft.

fendilim wrote:So every win now is considered a moral victory cause it hurts the pingpong balls, right?

Orlando is most probable to draft 5. Orlando gets one of the three SFs with a top-5 pick. Wins change that to 6 and threaten the team to make a draft upgrade at the tam's weakest starting slot.

Oh Tatum is bigger than the 6'8'' he's listed at, so he would fit in the mould of a PF. However in the modern NBA the difference between each position becomes smaller and smaller. Tatum and Gordon can coexist as wing/stretch 4 players, since Tatum has the range to provide additional spacing for Gordon.
Both are fairly lateral quick, can rebound as a 4 and have the length to provide weakside help defense. So defensively it should work.

Either Tatum or Isaac would be terrific fits with you guys, with Tatum having the slight advantage since he's a potential #1/2 option on the offensive end which Orlando is missing.

But with all due respect, you guys shouldn't focus on fit, draft BPA imo. If Dennis Smith jr. or De'Aaron Fox is the best player, you draft him, even if it makes Elfrid Payton redundant. I'm not saying that Smith/Fox is better than either Tatum or Isaac though.

And now LaVar Ball is blaming UCLA's loss in the NCAA tournament to the team's "white guys."

Oh my God. Not only that he is delusional and has no objectivity at all he is also a racist. Maybe somebody should point out that his boys got all basketball talent from their mom ( Tina, white girl btw ), because he was definition of basketball scrub.

Pretty much. We are last in the league in offense and an upgrade it a wing that can shoot is welcomed by all fans. As good as Jackson is, i fear we won't be our best in the beginning with him. He plays elite D but that J and ft would hold him back where guys like Tatum or Isaac would fit in more closely. At this point, I'll take any of them. Even Bridges would be welcomed.

Definitely don't want Lonzo, if he slipped. I hope he does slip in the draft, hopefully out of the top 10. His dad is a POS.

It was an either/or question he was asked, it wasn't like it was said unprompted from him. Oladipo said similar comments about the Cavaliers.

Nobody cares what his dad is saying if we're winning.

I can understand the hesitance to distance away from drama, but it's his dad saying stuff, Lonzo is his own dude and the one that will prove it on the court. The only way you pass over a player with that much talent is injury concerns. We've actually been boring on the "drama" front since the Howard days, the only drama coming recently with the leaked whiteboard stuff.. so I don't really mind all that. Plus we'd be on TV a hell of a lot more.
