This would obviously be a public bid type scenario but as Cap was saying this would allow everyone to know what they would need to beat bids with.

I will give you a few small details when I share but thought it was cool to mess around. This is by no means a full proof system but figured I share what I was thinking in my head.

Bish gonna put the bids in there or we? If it is us eliminates the FA ranking since we wouldnt know how our offers weight against other teams
Also It can't be us, opens it up to illegal bids based on lack of cap space or roster slots

Nice!

I posted this last time but edited it since it was in the middle of FA  but if bish wants to use something like this:

https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1y11w8YSUkTW-BfpNsPhOkGHWzGmg1hPEm0iHhyUqBr0/edit#gid=1702349806

A team simply adds a number under the player they want on the right side "ex: 20 under Ian Clark" and it changes them to the bid leader. You also put what time you put the bid time in (10:00 am) and it automatically creates a time end for bid (this is for 4 hours but I think it can be messed with to make it 6 or whatever customized time), so in that case, it goes to 2:00 pm.

I like your summary format for sure. Maybe we can combine them I'm an analytical guy not a visual guy

my does take into consideration FA rating and years weight for each bid which we would for sure need. So there may be a way we combine where then people can use the summary to see all the leading bidders and I can sync it up.

For sure. To be fair I didn't make this, someone much smarter than me did, but if it's doable I think that's possible to incorporate. Just simply as a private or public bid logging sort of situation this may help alleviate/cut down the time bish has to tend to the bids. Even if we don't use it this season, may help in 2021 or 2022.

edit: Again I will reiterate, for public OR private use for bish. Doesn't have to be strictly one.

Maybe for teams section there Bish can update every number for every single team needed to beat the current offer so all of us can see and put in our bid accordingly in respect to time stamps

Here is mine. Obviously ignore the specific ratings and year calculations because those can easily change based on the weight bish wants to give them. But you can cycle through players (F8) and it will tell you who is leading the bid, then in your "how to beat the offer" section you can cycle through the amount of years and it will increase or decrease the amount of years you give a player.

I have it on my team the Spurs. But you can change cell J2 to your team and it will adjust to your FA rating so you will see that it would cost me more to sign Jayson Tatum then it would be for Dallas to sign Jayson Tatum away from CLE.

Obviously only did 4 players for the sake of argument but it is easy expandable to how many players you want to add.

I'm more against the public bidding in terms of which team is making the offer as opposed to how much the offer is. I wouldn't be opposed to a system that lets teams know how much a player is currently available for but don't like the idea of knowing that it maybe a rival team that has placed that bid.

Like I said before my main concerns with a system like this is how we keep all of the bids legal. If teams are able to place their own bids by writing them into a spreadsheet, we would need a system that ensures that all bids are legal. It happens frequently that a team has placed multiple bids on players and one or more puts them over the cap.

I’m not a fan cause it will just allow a lot of more bad faith bids. If gms know how much players are going for in the public, then they will just be bidding to up the price of those players. This also prevents steals from happening as well, which I think is the best part of free agency. This is not much different than putting the names of the teams to the public in my eyes. Its essentially the same concept.

I am assuming those illegal bids that have put teams over the cap is because you were behind time on updating the bids so they just bid on multiple players hoping they land one of them. I think having freezing time periods would prevent that from happening.

Yea I'm also not a fan of knowing who bid on who. Knowing me and how I can get, if I see which team bid on a player I like or want I would target all of their players they are bidding on, hoping they back off the one I like.

How do time freezes solve SOUL's and general issue of missing out players by timing? It will drag out the process but you can still lose out on players by simply timing no

and it still doesn't solve the full issue of still relying on bish to do everything. It just gives him slightly more down time. But he still would be absolutely flooded with pm's...especially with the 2022 FA.

I know people want anonymity but we also have to understand the league doesn't run without bish and he 2022 will be a sh*t show. I know it...and then with so many bids there will be so many delays in terms of knowing who is winning a bid an who isn't. Only way to solve that is real time bidding and updating...and we can keep the team names Anonymous im sure..I just need to find a way to do that while still keeping the FA ranking formula to work.
