Re: Joel: unchained.
this board/city would have ran Giannis out of town after he got locked up by the Heat a few years back.
Giannis is the best in the world right now for sure but he would not win without Middleton (see last year) and The bucks got over the hump with the addition of Jrue. Both guys cover up a weakness of Giannis alongside Bropez and allows him to focus on his best aspects. Steph Curry is the GOAT shooter...he does not win without Draymond handling most of the ball handling and being hid by a squad of wing athletes and an equally great shooter in Klay (well not so much lately lol). Bron is in the GOAT discussion and while he did carry scrubs to the finals...never finished without elite shooters and a guy who could also get his in Wade, Kyrie and Bubble AD.
Does this mean Biid is flawless and not at fault? **** no. He is the remaining constant. Being this out of shape, foot ouchies or not is not acceptable. I also see a bit of annoyance at how the offseason went ala the Horford year and he is probably in his fee fees over how much everything began to cater to Harden. SUre. He needs to be better and all that jazz. I also wonder if that boat hasn't sailed yet or if a giant human being can actually be your main guy. All of that is valid.
BUT and I have been saying this for years, we still haven't really built a great roster around him. This offseason was assssss...and while yeah he wanted PJ Tucker. Bron wanted Westbrook...sometimes these dudes don't know **** lol. You need solid-good athletes, movement shooters, and a backup big that in theory could even play next to Biid and a coach that can scheme him easy looks. We added a 38 year old, a scrub, and a 6'2 SF and kept Doc Rivers. SO even if Biid wasn't on his period, that isn't exactly how I'd build an ideal Embiid unit IMO (not even sure if its how I'd build a Harden one either tbf).
Call me a broken record but that first 52 win season team was the blueprint IMO. Big Ballhander, Knockdown movement shooter, Big 3D wing, hybrid stretchy four and ideally a slimmer Biid. Add in an actual bench with at least another movement shooter, a stretch big and a ballhandler and you got yourself a stew IMO. Hell we got a scrapped down version of it now with Harden being the big ballhandler (not the defender we need tho ), Maxey can be the big time shooter IMO, Tobias is the hybrid guy in a sense...but thats it. No other real movement shooters, our 3-D guys suck at both in a sense, and still no stretch big....and the bench is Georges Niang only. And again our coach is still Doc **** Rivers..
Again Biid has to be better and has to stop being so sluggish. I am not saying otherwise. But just as frustrating as Ben was for us...I never thought it was him alone. I have said from jump this franchise constantly has run away from what worked and have since tried dumbass **** that only worked in past decades lately from the Al no Spacing to Doc Rivers time....I am tired of people trying to pin it on a single player because they aren't perfect./..when the problem has always been the fact that we have never built a cohesive unit.
The sad part is that it may just be too late

As a superstar, you are mostly as good as your worst and against the toughest competition. The rest is just noise

Embiid has been amazing so far, we lost a game and he was +10, plus 26 points and 13 rebounds, the most by our team in both categories. What happens here is that Embiid has to do it all apparently, but that's not how it works, it's a team sport, you want Embiid to be a juggernaut on offense and a juggernaut on defense, but it's not his fault if Maxey is a traffic cone on defense and the team can't score for ****.

Joel's demeanor and approach has been disappointing. He lapses on defense . He is selfish on offense and turnover the ball alot. He isn't a leader and he's a me first guy .

Embiid is our best defender still, maybe with the exception of Thybulle but he is useless on offense so it doesn't count.
It's funny you guys always point out Embiid's defense but ignore Maxey's traffic cone-like defense, I guess because he is the new shinny guy in the room. When he sees the demeanor of the whole team, it's normal Embiid is not thrilled and will be disinterested at times, he has to carry the whole team and he was already doing that with Bum Simmons, he's had enough.
So ya next time try to pair Embiid with a good star instead of Bum Simmons or James Soften that skips like half the games and doesn't even try on defense, oh and when you actually pair him with a true star like Jimmy Butler don't trade him to appease others!

Guard defense isn't nearly as important. Your C should be your defensive anchor.
Jo needs to take a step or two back on offense and a step or two up on defense. I mean, if he wants to win titles and not just MVP's.
But we have already seen all his talk this summer was just that, and he still is out for #1. It's very disappointing.
Morey is also to blame. Rebuilding the 2018 Rockets with Embiid is not the path to success in 2022.
Most of all, Glenn is a (expletive) and needs to go.

But Embiid already has taken a step back on offense to accomodate Harden, FGA are down from last year. So yeah fake news again, Embiid is shooting less, he is trusting the process, what you don't like is the process altogether, the process which involves James Soften, Tobias Sorrys and Doc Rivers, if you thought that process was going to be successful then I don't know what to tell you

Isn’t it the coaches job to have the players knowing their roles and executing the plays he calls? You love to attack the individual players but overlook what’s actually happening in terms of running an offense and maximizing a defensive plan based on the opponent. Clearly Doc doesn’t have this team confident in playing as a unit the entire game.

Re: Joel: unchained.
Biid has taken a step back in his role on offense tho.
This idea that he is just out for him is nuts to me because that has not been the case on the floor. He has cut back on a lot of his usage rate and his post touches. The difference now is that Harden is out and Maxey isn't ready for that role so its back to last years offense.
he's been a mopey dope this year but I think its moreso due to his body yet again not being up to par...which has always been when he looked the worst IMO.
Plus we have been losing lol.... that doesn't help.

Maybe Drew Hanlen can work with Embiid on his ball security. He praises him about what he can do on the peremiter but it's hard to do anything when your consistently turning the ball over.

Embiid turns the ball over because he has no help, what do you expect when he has to do it all because team shots 20% from 3, opponent triple teams him and we can't punish them, maybe ask his teammates to actually do their job

Embiid went for 40+ tonight, but his lack of effort throughout the last 6 minutes was inexcusable. We won, but check the tape.... it's a problem.

Re: Joel: unchained.
Still getting good legs back. He's also trying to coast during the regular season. We always see him bring it during the playoffs giving maximum effort. He is trying to preserve good body but for. Him it's either 150% all the time or he looks like he's not giving a ****. Sucks I know but you should still be able to win 55-60 games with a team that has 2 other 20 ppg scorers.ankle420breaker wrote:Embiid went for 40+ tonight, but his lack of effort throughout the last 6 minutes was inexcusable. We always see him bring in the playoffs giving maximum effort?? He shows up to playoff games with zero energy and terrible body language. He did it against Toronto a few years back and then last year against Miami (after he lost the MVP race to Jokic). He's the total opposite of someone like Giannis when it comes to his competitive fire.eyeatoma wrote:Still getting good legs back. He's also trying to coast during the regular season. 42pts and people mad about his effort, **** off lol
Let's check the facts: 42 points, 10reb, 6ast, +22 in a 11pts win. Yeah easily our best player, try harder next time

That said, I acknowledged the numbers, and the win. Specifically talking about his lazy energy and effort in the last six minutes when the Hawks were pressing.

Embiid had the luxury to relax a bit, he was tired from having to carry the whole team, it's understandable that he can't keep the same energy all the match.

Absurd argument. No star player has the luxury to relax in the final six minutes of a close game.

He kinda does, though. Maybe ask the rest of the team to help him for once? People complain that he gets injured often, what do you expect by running him to the ground?
