I can't imagine he would be. With Lou out for the year the Hawks need Harris.

This, also Devin's been excellent so far this season

Care to tell me why Josh Smith's numbers are dramatically better at SF than they are at PF? I'm thinking L.A. will get Atlanta some decent pieces in a three-way deal for Josh and he'll be a part of a large forward duo with Earl Clark.

Fast break points maybe? Not being burdened rebounding, post defense? Josh pretty much does what he wants regardless of what position he plays.

What numers are you referring to when you say dramatically better?

I ... think ... he shoots closer to the basket when he's defended by SFs. I think the PFs chase him outside.

Whatever the truth is, Grantland.com says he shoots 62% from inside. http://www.grantland.com/blog/the-trian ... ers-so-far (WARNING!! Not for the faint of heart! Realistic Josh Smith shooting breakdowns included!)

I actually would do this, but the consensus amongst other Hawks fans will be:

NO WAY IN H3LL!

Careful, it's okay to not like a player but to let your feelings cloud your mind is sad. Bargnani is much worse than Smith, he plays PF (or fake Center) and he's signed long enough to mess with our FA dreams. Derozan can't shoot, yet we have a jumpshooting offense.

Jazz fan? Ya kinda lumped a lot of value in on their side of the ledger.

I don't think MIN would give Pekovic and Williams for Gasol. I believe they've already turned offers of that kind.
Talent-wise, I think LA would jump at this but Bargnani's 3 years of contract length would complicate their LBJ schemes.
Nets are giving alot for an expiring.
Not sure how TOR feels about Ross.

Would the Hawks trade Josh Smith for Nikola Pekovic? Probably, unless they thought they had a chance at Dwight Howard (and we're hearing rumors about that).

Nets fan.

I don't think we gave up much.

I like Marshon, his skillset is impressive. But it doesn't seem applicable.

I used a lot of existing rumors. Minny is said to love Pau, josh wants out, Atlanta would like a legit center, lakers need a stretch 4 and young legs, jazz could use assets for a player they won't re-sign. Nets are dying for a competent 4.

Only one who might say no is the lakers and for the exact(but silly) reason you mentioned

I'm sure the Hawks would say no. The doesn't do anything particularly better than Smith and the way the NBA goes, you are going to have to pay the max to keep him.

Smaller max, RFA status and massive cap scaring teams away from even bothering to offer a contract puts Atlanta in the driver's seat.

I am sure you guys are tired of Pau for Josh Smith talk. But would you guys do a Pau for Josh Smith and D. Stevenson trade. If you start Pau at C he will average 20 and 12.

I understand that you guys want to pursue D12 this off season. I wish we could just trade him to you because he is such a headcase. But our fo loves D12.

or would you consider the following proposal :Pau to minny, Smoove LAL, D.Williams/Jamison/AK47 to Atl).

New Atl

Teague
L.Williams
D.Williams
Kirilenko/D.Williams/Jamison
Hortford

Jamison and AK are expiring contracts giving you even more money to spend this offseason (could sign reddick in the off season)

I don't think Gasol would be the answer to our center problems. He and Horford are too similar.

Plus Gasol has never averaged 12 rpg so the chance he comes in and does that is very slim. It's also been 5 years since he has averaged 20 ppg and that was on a team where he was THE MAN, and on Atlanta he wouldn't be fed the ball all the time.

You forget that he plays for Minnesota. David Kahn wouldn't match a max contract for him anyway. If you are okay with offering Nikola Pekovic a max deal (and again, he is GOING to get a max deal) then just offer it to him in the offseason.

Gasol and horford are nothing alike offensively or defensively. Gasol has a post game, al doesn't. That's a HUGE difference.

Gasol might be broken down a little. That's the only reason I wouldnt trade Josh for him.

1) Why would Minnesota not match a 4 year 58 million dollar offer from another team? It doesn't cripple their cap either now or in the future and it is not as if they can sign any comparable player with the space they'd have left. Again, a max for Pekovic is nowhere close to the 5 years 94 million that Josh Smith believes he's worth.

2) It's not a simple matter of Atlanta offering him that 58 mil deal either, they would have to contend with, oh I don't know, other teams also interested in his services as well, Pekovics own personal desires, in addition to Minnesota's ability to match.

Hey guys! suns fan here. what are you're feelings on wether or not your front office intends to keep josh smith? And IF they were theoretically looking to trade him and we offered a return what would you guys be looking for value wise(within reason of course)?

Would something along these lines be acceptable: http://espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=a3859bt .

And perhaps you guys could throw us one of your late firsts this year for one of our 2nd rounders? (for salary cutting purposes of course). :dontknow: This way Having acquired gortat, And johnsons' expiring, you save a bundle in order to pursue dwight howard ,and IF a tade has to happen, you still have gortat as an asset to try and acquire him that way too? :D
