Felton's defense is on par with Lins.

Not when you factor in defensive rebounds, and steals. But of course I've been told rebounding and steals aren't really a part of defense... so in some circles (not mine) they don't count.

If you're measuring a player as an individual defender

Steals count, to a degree

Rebounding? No. Rebounding only factors in as far as your part in team defense as a whole.

No.. they both count in my book (and In John Woodens ). Was Magic only a good defensive rebounder by virtue of how well his team rebounded or don't you have to give him credit for the one of two things that completes a defensive possession? Raymond Felton has every opportunity to grab a rebound or a steal... Lin just does it more.

 The gif...perfect.

Ibraheim, there are plenty of good rebounders and guys who get steals and blocks and are piss poor defenders.

Here's the other thing about any given PG's defensive prowess... in todays game it's an extremely difficult possession to defend well with any kind of sustained success for an extended period of time throughout a game.

So. There are plenty of Piss poor defenders who don't grab rebounds, get steals, or Blocks... are both of those piss poor defenders on an equal footing?

Here's the thing little guy... I know basketball... there are about 5 maybe 10 guys on here that I can say I honestly respect their knowledge of the game and you're not one of them.

Of course, because those aspects dont define good defenders.

Kevin Love could get 30 rebounds and I still wont say he played good defense in that game....and he's one of my favorites.

You know this too, not even sure why you're still debating something you know isn't true.

Bro... I'm going to debate two things and nothing anyone else says or does is going to change my opinion so you can just stop. The first is that steals and defensive rebounding and nowadays drawing charges (as well as blocks as far as statistics are concerned) fall into the realm of what I consider "playing defense"... nobody is going to change that belief.

And two that Jeremy Lin is an "awful" man to man defender, unless "awful" is the middle point.. in other words average... when analyzing PG's ability to defend. Because if he's "awful" then I can name twenty other PG's who are worse.

You're entitled to your opinion, you should never change what YOU believe.

I still think the Lakers will find a way to make the playoffs, my opinion.

No different than I know what i see, Lin is an awful defender, anything below average aint worth discussing, imo.

Combined with inefficient scoring...that's a bad pairing, he can be much better, I think he can, but he is a work in progress.

Eye test dont though.

My rule for thumb...stats enhance what you see, they dont change your mind of what you saw.

My eye test does though... and I trust my eye test more than yours.. it's that simple. I didn't have to go to synergy for anything.. I checked in this morning and read you and Pharm saying how he was an awful man to man defender and I said hmmmm.. awful? That's stretching things average yes... awful no... and I went over to Synergy and it confirmed what I had thought... And I also thought you were overrating CP3's man to man defense also maybe in his younger years pre-surgery but not the CP3 of today... Conley I agreed is good guarding opposing PG's man to man. And it all checked out.

raymond felton can't shut down russell westbrook, same goes for lin. westbrook is an all star, anyone would have hard time slowing him down. sometimes players get "hot" that's also difficult for anyone to stop.
