The Cavs play the Thunder next. That schedule is absolutely brutal. All these DTD injuries have me thinking they are doing the tank thing again and angling for the top 5 again.

Sounds good to me, whatever puts the Pistons at 9.

Looks like Cavs are going to go tank mode. I wouldn't be surprised now if you guys get the 9th pick because I couldn't see us getting past any other teams beside Cleveland. **** my life, I'm just hoping Cleveland actually plays better without Kyrie which is actually possible.

It's almost fate that it lands at #9, just for hypothetical sake, if we land Randle or Vonleh, either of them would easily go at #1 last year.
Bobcats fate states that in true Bobcats fashion despite our luck landing either of these guys this draft, we picked a guy to play the same position high at #4 in the last draft and he's going to be a good player too.
Despite us needing a starting SG longterm, if someone like Vonleh or Randle make it to #9 we have to take them imo.

In a way though it's probably best that we just lose it this year to you guys. That pick needs to just go leave with Dumars, So the new GM can come in and start over without that pick handcuffing him. Just sucks though because they're will be some decent players this year around that spot. It would work out great for you guys though to get to watch some playoffs while also picking 9th, nice.

I think the thing that is most promising about losing the pick this year is that once Okafor and co hit college and next NBA season starts, it will make the tankapalooza this season look like shootaround.
The thing people overlook with us is that we're still rebuilding, we got ridiculed for the Jefferson signing by the media and fans but the thing people overlook is that we have 4 lottery picks as prospects and 1 of them is 20, 2 of them are 21 and 1 of them is 23.
2 of our starters who aren't considered prospects are currently 26 years of age.
Al Jefferson is our oldest starter at 29.
The funny thing is that in many regards we are built in the Detroit mould.

Yeah, Jefferson is a beast. I'm just shocked at how good you guys have been defensively.

I think most of us are also, we only have 2 above average defensive players on the team (MKG and Bismack) everyone else is average or below average

I'd say the main reasons for that are Clifford's system and MKG.
When MKG was out injured we were about the 21st ranked defensive team, with him we are top 5.
Kemba and Henderson have been impressive but inconsistent defensively.
EDIT-I forgot to mention that Biyombo despite playing 14.7mpg is the best rim protector statistically overtaking Hibbert a few months back.

Politely disagree. Unless Embiid and Parker et al return for another year. At best, I think 2015's draft will be like 2013's. One possible franchise talent at the top like Davis and a bunch of question marks. I like this year's class much better.

How awesome would it be if the Pistons got the 8th pick and everyone returned to school (Wiggins, Parker, Embiid, Exum. Randle and Gordon are locks to come out). Then Drummond has a season plagued with small injuries.

I respect that BD and I'd agree that this draft is probably deeper, but with Okafor in the mix, I can imagine that nearly all the teams that are tanking will continue to do so, next season.

How serious is Adam Silver about changing the draft age to 20? He seems pretty intent on it, actually.
That will change future drafts dramatically, possibly starting next year?

They can always trade BPA for that starting SG longterm or consider packaging Zeller + Blazers. They have flexibility with all these assets whether the Pistons pick conveys now or in 2015 imo. I still think Cho wants Gary Harris.

The DET pick is gone.
Gary Harris is gone.
Time to start arguing the merits of KJ McDaniels, CJ Wilcox, Adriean Payne

I really hope Cho doesn't want Harris but I fear you are right.

Not a huge fan no. I mean he is not the worst option but I would prefer a number of guys that would be around at 9 over Harris. He does not stand out above the other SG prospects to me.

Re: Charlotte 2014 Picks Watch Thread
I want the pistons pick this year. They will be in the playoffs next year. All it takes is sign and trading Monroe for a Starting sf and decent point guard which shouldn't be hard and demoting Jennings to the bench which should be easy. Or if they get Lionel Hollins who IMO would be perfect for them and still demoting Jennings to the bench. They have enough cap space to get the pieces they need. I really do not want to get embarrassed by Miami and miss out in this draft class. In good news I can see Portland free falling like atlanta. Their starters are injured/tired and their bench stinks.
