I think there are quite a few mid round guys that in a year or two, people will think how the hell did that guy last to fourth while midget WR all went so early.

Don't get me wrong, I like some of the WR in this draft, but unless you are talking about Tutu Atwell type roles, I just have a really hard time seeing how all these guys like Addison, Downs, Flowers, Dell, etc. hold up.

Love the TE depth. Any kind of type of TE you want seems littered throughout this draft

Kincaid visiting today. I think some people here need to get in a place where they're mentally prepared for the Packers to take a TE in the 1st round.

I'm good with him being that TE. Like I said before, he moves like a giant slot receiver out there and while he is 23, he has only been playing football for 5 years or so.

There is a lot of upside with to tap into. Just seems to have a lot of natural feel you can't teach.

If we do take one first round (which overall I'm against right now just based on the overall draft pool) I would take him. I think he's a surefire matchup problem in the receiving game, and we need that. Will greatly open up things for Watson and just help a lot with Love's development.

The thing with tight ends is if you can hit on one they can provide a ton of value unlike RBs, but they get somewhat devalued because finding the specific TE who is going to hit has shown to be a task that NFL evaluators haven't figured out yet. So yes if someone could tell that Kincaid, Mayer, Washington, etc. would hit and become a top end Tight end I think they would absolutely be worth the 15th pick, I'm just not sure I trust any NFL GM to actually distinguish yet which of the 10 Tight ends that I have on my top 102 board are going to be the ones who hit or bust.

Schrag's Mock 1.0

15. Green Bay Packers: Jaxon Smith-Njigba - Ohio State · WR · Junior

The wideout class is weird this year in that there's no apparent slam-dunk No. 1, and the scouting and coaching communities don't seem overly enthusiastic about any of the prospects as clear-cut blue-chip players. To each his own. I'll put JSN as the first WR taken, but that's no sure thing. Green Bay snagging a receiver now -- with Aaron Rodgers (presumably) leaving the building, after years of the Packers neglecting the position in the first round -- would be humorous. Oh, the irony.

I remember going to Lambeau in 2011, watched him abuse the Broncos. Our video game offense was a sight to see.
We were up about 40 midway thru the 3rd quarter and the crowd started chanting "We want Tebow" :)

That said, Jermichael would've been a terrible fit with the real MLF offense.

Run the ball 55-60% of the time. 2 TE for blocking. Throws are almost all play action after motion.

Look at the year he was at Tennessee. Look at Atlanta last year. Arthur Smith(Atlanta's coach) learned the offense from MLF.
A good season for Love will be 3000 yards & 18-20 TDs.

He had the league's best running back in Tennessee and Atlanta doesn't have a quarterback. Neither did Tennessee when he was there.

Pop quiz: Using the current depth chart, who plays the defensive line on short yardage, goal line, field goals, and punts ?

That's what MLF runs. The only reason we threw the ball as much as we did is we had a QB pretty set in his ways.

There's nothing wrong with being a dominant run team. Think San Francisco in the playoffs against us. Garoppolo didn't throw much, didn't have good stats, because he didn't have too.

My 1 and only trip to Lambeau was October 20th 2013 to watch the Pack destroy the Browns 31-13. Unfortunately, that was Finleys last game as a pro.

He's been pretty consistent about his philosophy, which is running when showing pass and passing when showing run. If there is one thing I like about MLF, it is that. The design is to keep the defense guessing at all times. Rodgers bought in to an extent, but I think he bullied his way into all kinds of audibles.

So let me posit this: Bijan is universally regarded as a top five played in this class, if not top three. If MLF is serious about running more AND Aaron Jones's contract makes it unlikely he's back in 2024, why not take Bijan at #15 (or trade up a few spots to get him)?

I think there might be rioting with that outcome, but nothing with the draft surprises me anymore.

IF Robinson gets picked by the Pack (regardless of when), Then run some sets with Robinson and Dillon in the backfield, and Jones as an slot receiver. Jones is a pretty dynamic receiver and putting him in the slot might cause an opposing DC a conniption or two.

Reading all of the many variations of first round philosophy here and elsewhere makes my head spin. I just think they need to come out of day one and two with an Edge, a TE, and failing that, more help for the OLine (NEVER enough of those guys on the roster - a third are banged up by week 6 anyway).

I think my philosophy has evolved to a pretty simple one: just come away with someone good. Running back isn't a need right now, but it will be a year from now. It's the same thing with just about every position. So getting good players in the draft, regardless of position, should just be the priority IMO. I could think of worse outcomes than getting a playmaker at RB. Like you said, at the very least it gives you options with Jones (or Robinson; he can catch the ball too).
