No idea what this trend is. Luke and DWhite are funny though.

And here we were told the Celtics are just a three-point shooting team.

Re: Celtics 2024-25, Season Thread
I have been wondering If Jrue is showing signs of his age or if he has just dipped down lately due to often being a 5th option and can't get his rhythm. And While I don't think Jrue will be benched for PP this year, I have to start to wonder If PP would/should start next year for Boston. PP definitely brings a different Dynamic than Jrue. Jrue is willing to do all the little things and allows the other starters to shine. But with the way PP can spread the floor just by his shooting threat as well as create better than many give him credit for, I am starting to think PP should be a starter by next season.
Agree, disagree, or forever hold your peace!

On another team, PP is a starter.
But with the Celts, his opportunities will be fewer if he's with the starters.
Just like Jrue is the 5th option with the starters, PP will also be a 5th option with the 4 star players.
PP is best suited as the 6th man and with other bench players and Tatum as the only starter.
That way PP will be the 2nd option behind JT.

Celtics with a 12-2 record in November, best in the NBA. Rockets with the best record in the West for the month at 11-4. But since Coach of the Month awards include October, Atkinson and Daigneault likely win.
Tatum and Jokic should win PotM for their respective conferences though.

Jrue Holiday last season 59.7 TS% on 16.3 USG%
Jrue Holiday this season 59.6 TS% on 16.7 USG%
If there has been some slippage from last season it certainly hasn't been as a scorer (those numbers would look even better if he wasn't cold from three to start the year). His rebounding is slightly down compared to last season but it's still the third highest reb% of his 16 year career so that seems fine. There's no meaningful difference in his passing numbers compared to last year (slightly lower ast% but slightly lower tov% to compensate). The only big downturn is his block numbers and that might just be scheme/personnel related or he is pacing himself on that end.

Re: Celtics 2024-25, Season Thread
The Celtics have made 20+ threes in 6 of their last 7 games. Nineteen teams haven't had 6 games making 20+ threes from the start of last season.
When people were worried every team will just imitate what the Celtics are doing, they really had nothing to worry about. It's different here.

6 players have made 70+ threes this season. Half of those are Celtics (Tatum, White and Pritchard). Mazzulla ball

After 20 games, Cs have not yet lost by double figures.
Don't need science to figure out that's very good.

The person is supposed to be running, and then you describe them like a fleeing crime scene suspect with their less than flattering qualities that are better left unsaid.
The PP one is low key hilarious, it's like they know they are supposed to play along but aren't going to be bothered too much about it.
"Am I supposed to respond to this?"
"yes"
"But I don't know what to respond with" and just walks off like hey I'm a multimilionaire if I just spout off whatever is rolling through my head that's not at all clever that's totally fine.

Random Celtics stat: Cedric Maxwell had a career 1751 TS added. Can’t find a career leader list but that is a pretty wild stat.

Could be a combination of both factors.
But also, another factor is that Jrue is just a guy who (for the most part) starts off slow each season..last season he had a slow start too. Then as the season went on, got better and was awesome in the playoffs.
During his slow start last season, I recall someone posted something (either here or on twitter) that showed his shooting percentages by month..over the past few years..and it was like every year, in Oct/Nov, his numbers were lower than the other months.
Add in the Olympics this past summer so had had a crazy short offseason and it's no surprise at all he is starting off slow..
Nothing wrong with having a different opinion - as long as it's done respectfully. It'd be lame if we all agreed on everything

Just for comparison, 10 seasons ago, the Warriors number was 25.89%. (It really was just Curry and Klay, not the whole team like the Cs are doing lol.)
The C's are currently on pace to smash the 22-23 Warriors record for three pointers made by a team in a season. Warriors hit 1,363 that seaosn. The Celtics are on pace to make 1562 this year. They just missed the record last year hitting 1,351 three pointers.

Re: Celtics 2024-25, Season Thread
While the NBA Cup format can be complicated, the Celtics' scenarios to advance as a wild card are pretty simple. Here's what to watch for in Tuesday night's matchups:
Bucks at Pistons
The Celtics need the Bucks to win by at least six points OR the Pistons to win by at least seven points. Either result would give Boston the point differential advantage over Milwaukee and Detroit.
Magic at Knicks
The Celtics need the Magic to win outright OR the Knicks to win by at least 38 points.

Re: Celtics 2024-25, Season Thread
Watching the Miami Heat with Butler and Abedayo lead a bunch of G-leaguers past Celtics teams with superior talent in Hayward, Tatum, Brown, Kemba, Smart etc. was maddening.
It’s beyond amazing to see Brad emulate that formula and see Tatum and Brown and co. dominate the Heat with guys like Kornet, Queta, Peterson and Walsh making substantial contributions. The next 5-7 years are going to be really fun.

"I think the criticism's stupid," Stevens said. "So I don't care. I'm with Jaylen (Brown) on that. Those two had achieved more than most 25 and 26 year olds ever had. I'd rather be in the mix and have my guts ripped out than suck."

Looks like the Bucks are trying to do their part. Magic, not so much.
Maybe Knicks can keep going and win by 17 or more. Then we'd get the Magic on pt differential, I believe. Going into tonight we were +23, Magic +39.
EDIT: Nvm, the nba cup standings differentials might be updated in real time. So, I don't know where the magic started.
