What's wrong with that? I mean It's been mentioned that ferry has the intention of cutting payroll to pursue dwight anyways, But what happens if you don't land dwight? (then at least you already have a serviceable center capable of putting up double/doubles in gortat rather than nothing.) And nobody says you have to dump your 2nd rounder. there is alot of talent to still be had in the 2nd round too. Better than having to pay smith the max, or losing him outright in free agency right? :dontknow:

We value Josh as being worth more than Marcin and trash.

If anything, we'd expect PHX to throw in some draft picks as incentive for us.

We respect Marcin, but believe our backup Center could give us similar production if given the PT.
We'd rather let Josh walk away than take back lesser players on longer deals with no draft picks or prospects.

Here is a twist:

Josh + Gortat to DAL

Petro + Marion+ DAL 1st (currently 11) to PHO

Kaman + W.Johnson (cap) or Beasley (inconsistant talent) + PHO 1st (currently #7) + DAL 2nd

ATL keep financial flexibility. could S&T Kaman, have pile up the picks 7, 17, 19, 41, 47, 49 those could be nicely useed to move up in the draft and maybe have 2 lottery picks.

Seems horrible for phx. They Move down 4 spots in the draft and give up Gortat just to get Marion?

Call me crazy, but I think Horford is more of a ingredient in a championship formula than Howard right about now.

Plus if Howard wants to come here, he can. Otherwise, why risk Al for a rental?

Nobody's bailing out Lakerland this year.

They made their bed with poor drafting, questionable trading, bad coaching hires.

Horford would be amazing on the Lakers. And especially once Gasol came back. But screw the purple & gold.

The Lakers have a history of bamboozling teams into giving them their best assets for damaged goods....I wouldn't even trust swapping a 2nd rounder with them.

How about Rondo straight up for Smith?

Hawks get hurt but young, locked in, top 20 player that makes only $11m per, and keeps your hopes of landing Howard alive (maybe improves them). By my count, Hawks would have 27m in cap room even with Rondo on books.

Celtics get some size that can help KG and PP make one last run. If it doesn't work out, they let him walk. If it does, they re-up him.

Someone offered this on another topic and most of us agreed to it, this trade would be great for both teams

http://espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachine/?tradeId=bf2gghe

Nets out: teletovic, humphries, Marshon , Evans, stack
In: bargs, josh smith

Hawks: in Ross, fields, stack, Evans
Out: smith

Raptors in: tele, Marshon, hump
Out: Ross, bargs

Essentialy Toronto gives up Terrence Ross to Atlanta and in return we take Andrea Bargnani's contract and they shed fields' contract.

Not really sure if either team does it, but there's something to it in that the hawks get a legit prospect and maybe A pick. The raptors get out of 2 bad deals and don't come away totally empty handed.

^That would leave Al Horford as our only starting-quality big man. Not acceptable. If you think I'm wrong, send Lopez to us and let YOUR team play small.

We have Horford for PF, we are satisfied with Korver/Stevenson/Tolliver at SF for the time being, we really like our SG rotation of Korver/Lou Williams/John Jenkins and we're excited at the prospects of Teague becoming a really good player. Center - that's what's missing.

In that trade we send out the best player by far and get the worse return.

Drummond has all the potential in the world to be a franchise Center and the Pistons are still rebuilding, granted at the back end it seems of rebuilding, but I don't understand why they would do this trade. Monroe is more suited for PF and is still young, the future front court of Monroe and Drummond yields a much higher upside than Smith and Monroe.
