They are what 7 footers used to be - rare, very useful on the court, and will get overpaid.

So finding one that can develop into a starter level 3&D wing is huge get. Huge.

Whittington and Putney has some tools (length, agility) to be a plus defender. they both show promise shooting the 3. I'd waste no time and gamble on both, if you get lucky and 1 turns out the be an average wing shooter on a cheap long term contract - you helped your roster building in a huge way going forward.

I would choose Christian Wood and Raphiael Putney. Wood is a good player to develop as a floor stretching power forward. He has a 7'2" wingspan. Putney is also a power forward, though he can also play small forward. He gets plenty of blocks. Wood should have been a first round pick.

http://www.nbadraft.net/players/christian-wood

Putney is almost 26. Christian Wood is 20 years old.

What do you think about Nigel Spikes? He's also an older guy, but I like him.

Christian Wood is a head case from everything I saw about him, that's why he went undrafted despite having an highish celling and that's why the talent starved Sixers cut him from the roster completely. That's a huge red flag when you get cut from Philly despite being 20YO with real talent (which he has) and elite physical tools. He's practically 100% a lazy idiot. I also wouldn't consider him a stretch 4, he's more like an agile skinny 4\5 at this point.

There was a time he was projected to go lottery, in terms of pure talent he's probably in the top %1 of d-league players. But potential is often wasted when you're a head case.

Nigel Spikes isn't a NBA player IMO. Too limited.

Not a huge fan, mainly because of age, him being so damn skinny and not being very well rounded.

But his 3 point shooting (good %, very high volume, easy release (both height and form), sustained for ALOT of games by now) make him a no brainier - we have nothing to lose by giving him a shot at this stage. We've got the roster spots, he's in form, we have the shooting need - why not, he's proving he's worth a chance.

Did not know who he was either but found these highlights. He is 6'10 can block shots and shoot threes. Plays more like a Small Forward than a PF but in todays NBA he would be perfect at the PF position.

Hassan as front line player; Does he show max returns?

Goran take next level with Bosh out?
Health? Wade, Amare, Hassan, Goran?
Does Spo now, go all in with Small ball going forward?
Lou Deng as a 4?

You should consider it as a perk for being a mod. I have a lot of spelling and grammar mistakes in my posts since I don't really proofread here, but no one corrects my mistakes.

I don't know his game well but from what i can see he is a very good rebounder at 9 a game and has had some monster rebounding games also at 26 he is the same age as Whiteside. I share the concern about his weight but he is a perfect stretch 4 for this NBA. He can also play some 3 because his length would allow him to play off to negate what he lacks in quickness. He is also a great rim protector. I am not saying he is what we need because i think we have enough developmental players already but he is a very very good prospect at PF for the current style of basketball being played.

So is it chest day everyday for Putney?

I can't be watching this guy play. Those legs look like they could snap any minute. I'll be like this every time his on the court...

Sounds like a Heat move. Proven rebounder, especially offensive rebounds. Grabbed 6.4 rebounds last season in only 16 minutes. You need rebounds if you are going to run. Also a veteran who will not demand to play.He is 35 yo though, I guess a way to replace Bridman.

Why would we need another PF? Seems redundant to Haslem. For me it would seem we would need another swing man who can shoot the three. Deng, McBob, and Haslem are three deep at PF with a possible late season return of Bosh. With Winslow starting we could really use someone a little bit more reliable then Gerald Green behind him off the bench.

I haven't watched him play for a year or 2 but from what I remember he was pretty decent and could shoot.

What about John Jenkins? He's can't really do anything but shoot but he's pretty young and could possibly get hot. Bring him in as the backup 2 and have Gerald at the 3 or keep Green at the 2 and bring Copeland at the 3.

I'm still hoping for Joe Johnson though.

Seriously though no to evans. Rather try Putney or a young dleager or someone coming ogf contact from overseas

Joe Johnson is going to ring chase with the Cavs. I saw John Jenkins was recently released. Might be worth a look.

He was very reliable on the Kings. Not a very exciting player though and I doubt if he will see much floor time Still, it's easy to argue that he's more valuable in the postseason than a nervous rookie. It's just sad to spend one of our two arrows on someone who isn't a player of the future.

If Deng/Winslow's going to play the 4 for large periods of time going forward then I'd look for another PG/Wing... That's if those spots are to be filled anyway

Exactly! At this point I hope he just stays with the Nets for 2 reasons. First as what you alluded to - to ensure he doesn't go to the Cavs and the second I hope he stays there and wins enough games so that Boston gets a useless pick :D I'm sick and tired of hearing about Ainge's warchest!

We traded Stokes to the Pelicans. They waived him.

That makes us one of three teams that cannot sign Stokes.
