Or maybe someone will take him into their TPE and we can sign someone off the street.

NY - Ryan Arcidiacono
CLE - Ty Jerome
CHA - Frank Ntilikina
BRK - Lonnie Walker, Dennis Smith
ATL - Garrison Matthews
GSW - Corey Joseph
HOU - Aaron Holiday
MEM - Derrick Rose
POR - Skylar Mays
UTAH - Kris Dunn

Not a lot of attractive options out there, but I wouldn't be surprised to see us move Moore to get off his contract for next year so we can use his roster spot on a guy actually capable of giving us minutes.

I agree that dumping his money and spot for next year is a big win. We are better off this year with 14 instead of 15 due to cap limits. Dumping Moore and signing someone in the buyout market lets us get a vet instead of a G league guy. Obviously, a lot depends on what happens around the deadline.

He could easily be your new version of Kyle Anderson.

Fun fact: THT currently has an assist percentage higher than any Timberwolves player (29.8%).

He does flash at times, but the shooting and overall numbers are not very good.
And he makes 11 million, so Slo-Mo would have to be outgoing salary.
If he made less money he'd be an upgrade on current version Shake (not saying a lot there), but I wouldn't give up even a 2nd round pick for him.

Great player, but don’t we have a B-level Caruso in NAW?

Would Caruso take all of NAW’s minutes, which are sadly already limited by Jaden’s return?

C-level, if we are being generous. Alex Caruso's defense is freakish, and he is far more efficient as an off-ball player.

Definitely not worth fantasizing about, Minnesota doesn't have the sauce to complete that kind of trade, unfortunately. I don't regret the trade, but not having that one extra first to play with from the Rudy Gobert trade definitely limits Minnesota.

I like AC was well, but let’s not get carried away. I don’t think he is that much better than NAW, and even if he is, the best ability is availability and AC has questions in that area. But I do agree we don’t have the assets and they don’t have the will to sell AC so he is not a realistic trade target.

Neeva wrote:Caruso is getting really overrated IMO. He’s really not that huge of a difference maker. wolves should be looking for another NAW type, cheap, overlooked and can help off the bench.

Alex Caruso is substantially better than Nickeil Alexander-Walker by almost every single defensive metric, he is arguably a top five defensive player in the NBA, despite being a guard.

https://craftednba.com/player-traits/defense

I generally eye-test it and go on vibes, but fortunately in this case, the stats fully match the vibes. The efficiency gap between both of them offensively is substantial as well, but Alex Caruso is (in the bursts that he plays) an unreal defensive talent.

Again, it is kind of meaningless given that Minnesota doesn't have the assets, but he is the absolute real deal.

Collection of videos:
Spoiler:
Very short (but great) video going into his incredible defensive basketball IQ:

Beautiful collection of possessions:

Awesome possession:

Twelve minutes of him absolutely picking pockets:

Excellent video from Thinking Basketball from two years ago about Lonzo Ball and Alex Caruso:

If Minnesota had a first, I would absolutely be clamoring for them to trade it for Alex Caruso. That said, it is what it is; there are more realistic targets to obtain.

Could shake up the trade market a bit.

Kyle for Monte and picks?

Monte hasn’t played yet and won’t likely before late January early February at the earliest. I just don’t see him being ready to both play at a high level and have the chemistry with our team by the playoffs.

Lonnie Walker best bet of that meagre list.

Or re-sign D Rose just for the nostalgia of his 50 pt game with us.

So the Lakers have been making headlines about wanting Lavine, but I had a different idea. This is still very raw, but

Lakers out: Austin Reaves, D’Angelo Russell, Jarred Vanderbilt.
Lakers in: Immanuel Quickley and Evan Fournier.

Knicks out: Immanuel Quickley and Evan Fournier.
Knicks in: Naz Reid, D’Angelo Russell, and Wendell Moore Jr.

Wolves out: Naz Reid, Wendell Moore Jr.
Wolves in: Austin Reeves, and Jarred Vanderbilt

Why for the Lakers. Fournier adds badly needed shooting, gets off the Dlo contract, and IQ adds a PG of the future who can play PNR with Davis. This trade obviously depends on having faith in IQ, but if you do, long term Lakers come out ahead.

Why for Knicks. Naz Reid is the starting center that replaces Robinson. Robinson moves in the offseason and now you added floor spacing and interior scoring. He can also play beside IH the way he does with Gobert. Legit 50/40/90 possibility and 6th man of the year contender. Dlo replaces IQ who is likely to leave anyway next year. One year of bad money, but for a guy who can come off the bench and give you scoring or has the size to play with Brunson. The defense would be bad, but the scoring strong when Dlo is on. Moore Jr, is filler.

Why for the Wolves.

Reaves replaces Naz’s production for the offense and becomes the backup guard we need who can provide insurance for Conley. He is friends with Ant and is on Ant’s timeline and locked up for years on a good deal. He would fit well on the Wolves and on a reasonable salary. V8 returns home to MN and provides a ton of rebounding and defense just like he did his first stretch with us. Next year when his money kicks in we can move him for value or pay the tax. Either way he replace Naz in the rotation and we can now move Kyle if we need to fill in the gaps created.

This is very raw and probably needs help. Input welcome.

Seems the trade board doesn’t like IQ as much as some of you guys do. They all seem to think Reaves is better, and I don’t think that highly of Reaves. I just thought he could play our backup PG and eventually maybe be good enough to be our 5th option.

IQ expect 25 millions. Very high on my opinion for a player like him.

With all the trade KAT for him buzz and the case some of the guys were making for the move I thought he was supposed to be this blue chip player. Then again those guys think Reaves is near McDaniels value so they are kinda out of touch.

This is me being the forum curmudgeon, but there was a reason why I always called the "trade KAT for Quickley" buzz on this forum to be exceptionally absurd.

He is a very solid young player that I would comfortably trade seconds and unprotect the 2029 pick for, but he is definitely not a blue chip type of prospect (from a trade value perspective).

Anderson, Moore for Jevon Carter, Dalen Terry and Torrey Craig?

Why for CHI: Anderson plays winning basketball and might fit well next to Vuc and DDR

Why for MIN: we get defensive minded backup PG in Carter, PG prospect in Terry and short term KA replacement in terms of defense in Craig

On that 25 million a year contract he will probably get from the Knicks he is barely a positive.

Fournier could be a great addition from the bench. Need to play before the JO, decent shooter but average defender. But his bad salary make it quite hard to do.

his next year is club option
can Knicks decline it this year and buy him out at some point this season?

It's impossible but I really really appreciate KCP...

Thats what Fournier hope. If they did, i will take a chance. He got plenty of frustration inside him and he may help.

I get the hope, but do the rules allow it?
