I don't know that its matter where the pick is much in this draft. There's some talent in this draft. But does anyone really think you couldn't trade Poeltl for a say 10th - 15th pick in the draft? Is kind of splitting hairs TBH. The only part that makes people angry is seemingly not tanking it out for three years.

And I don't like Poeltl that much.

I think near every raptor was waiting/worrying abour being traded and the players really weren't putting in much effort. But we shall see.

We couldn't get a lottery pick in this weak draft for Pascal Siakam and you think we could get one for Jakob Poeltl?

Of course not, no lottery team will trade their lotto picks for a 3 month rental. Lol Indiana has no lottery picks, just like every other playoff/contender.

Dinwiddie to sign with the Lakers.

Only way a trade with them would have worked out is if we traded for Russell or Vincent (plus more salary filler with Vincent).

So I'm guessing they didn't want to take on that contract which makes sense.

Did Indy have a guaranteed lottery pick in the picks that they had? Do any competitors? And since you missed the point... it was more of a question, does it matter if its 10 or 15, or even 20 in this draft or are they close enough to the same thing.

If it's a question, the answer is obviously no, because any team that is in the lottery isn't giving up their pick for Jakob Poeltl. Like I said, we couldn't even get a single guaranteed lottery pick for a former 2x All-NBA player, we sure aren't getting one for role player centre.

Everything helps. We also need Philly to stay ahead of the Pacers.

Mayberry: The Raptors-Nets trade that sent Schröder and Young to Brooklyn for Dinwiddie caught my eye. My initial thoughts went to Young, the 17-year veteran who remains both valuable and productive but is on the move again. And then I remembered an in-game disagreement I saw Schröder having with then-Raptors teammate Gary Trent Jr. during a road win over the Bulls in late January.

Schröder appeared to take exception to not receiving a throw-ahead pass from Trent in transition. Trent adamantly barked back at Schröder as the Bulls shot free throws. And who stepped between them to tell them to cool it? Young, the sage, seen-it-all vet. It was only one observation from a brief moment over a long season. But when I saw this Raptors-Nets deal, it didn’t take long for that memory to return. And I wondered how much locker room dynamics in Toronto might have played a role.

I think Will Lou and Black Murphy alluded to behind the scenes stuff on the day of the trade. Dennis is a confrontational guy, and he's said it all along. You saw it in World Cup. Nothing new about him in that regard.

He even said that at the press conference. The difference is that he doesn’t have the clout to be confrontational. I would understand the frustration with Gary though. That man has superglue on his hands. Never passes.

It wasn't just to save money, it was done primarily to clear salary for next season.

Raptors spend near the luxury tax every year even when they suck. This wasn’t done to save money. It was a cap move for next year to clear his salary to spend it elsewhere. Dinwiddie is paid regardless so also not to save money. It was for Scottie’s development on ball. What is the point of having an expiring Spencer Dinwiddie on this roster?
When will we just change the name of 25 of the 30 teams to the Washington Generals?

Please advise….

Not to mention Raptors have to take back 20 mil worth of bad contracts. What are we going to do with those? Waive them before they arrive?

I really don't get why people joke about "bitcoin" with Dinwiddie. What he did with his contract had nothing to do with Bitcoin. If his he was paid in Bitcoin back then, he'd be super rich by now as the price of BTC was like $7K and now its over $48K. I have some BTC in my portfolio and have made quite a bit of money on that when I sold at the high points and re-bought at the low points. I've had ETH too but got rid of that at profit. Anyways, what Dinwiddie did was a bit more complicated and don't quite understand it. As always with crypto, never trust all the crap coins out there. People rag on bitcoin but look at it now.

If everyone could buy low and sell high then we'd all be rich but the truth is a lot of people got screwed over in the crypto world. I'm not going to pretend I know enough to carry on this conversation though. I was just making a joke lol.

Yeah just people should just joke about "crypto" in general as if anyone actually knows a bit about investments, that bitcoin is not that. It never even fluctuated that much. The general rule was always just trust bitcoin and maybe etherium but nothing else.

It was for cap space next year as you said.
It was for Scottie's development on ball as you said.

It was also not to bring in ANOTHER PG who is selfish.

And lastly, it was to free up 26-30 minutes that Dennis was playing, that can now go to OA, more to Dick, etc...

Remember when i got chewed out for saying that Dennis’ value was way lower then ppl think it is and that at best a top 26 protected 1st or no FRP at all.

It was a bad market at the deadline for picks. Lots of teams worried about the cap as well.

People chewed you up for saying Schroder was a 10 minute per game player on a good team. That was an absolutely wild take. You’d have to have completely ignored history to say that.
