It does add salary, but the "big three" in NY is fantasy, might as well get a big two and surround them with players that will make a strong and balanced team.

Because Villanueva sucks, has a sh*tty contract, and can't play defense.

I would love to get Okafor on this team, but Rip is also aging and we would have a HUGE gap at PF. This would kill our future cap situations...I would much rather wait to see if we can sign him/wait to see if we can do a sign and trade w/NO to get Paul and Okafor.

The Knicks are not trading Amar'e. Stopt that sh#t.

For two reasons:
1) It's the Karma Equivalent of killing a bag of kittens.
2) That contract is poison.

Hey genius, no PF has led a team to the title on his own. Pau had Kobe (did nothing in Memphis), Duncan had Parker and the Flopper, Garnet had Pierce, Allen, and Rondo, Dirk had Kidd, Terry, Chandler, etc. Most of them had a good team around them and most could play D unlike Amare. And Amare isn't next at anything, when Melo came to town, Amare basically let him have the lead.

No where in my post did I say Paul would lead the team to a title, learn to read genius!

Okafor would anchor the defense in the middle and his offensive game isn't that bad (destroyed the Heat), Melo we all know, RIP is a hard worker with a game that will "age" well, and Paul can run the offense. Obviously Villanueva will be the weak link in the starting line up, but he will at least give Melo, Paul, and Okafor room in the paint with his outside shooting.

so youre saying other positions like pgs dont have stacked teams genius?like miami heat. LOL you are a genius man. how does 2 perimeter superstar doing who are the top 3 and better than your boy cp3 genius? did they won or they lost to a just top 10 player in dirk who does not rebound and defend  no matter how you surround cp3 as long as he doesnt have a superstar big man(amare), he aint winning sht genius.

and pau did nothing in memphis like kobe did nothing without pau?pau's memphis has won more than kobes lakers who had another all star in odom and at least pau is not considered a top 10 while kobe or tmac for that matter are considered top 5 players. no team aint winning without a big man and thats the reason why melo came here because of amare. same with cp3. if amare needs them, he should be the one joining them but instead he left nash where the 2 just made it to the conference finals

Uhh... what? You really don't make much sense. Try sticking to what I actually say, didn't say a thing like that. :o
how does 2 perimeter superstar doing who are the top 3 and better than your boy cp3 genius?

Never said CP3 was my boy, and wtf, are you high? Are you trying to ask how CP3 is better than Lebron and Wade? Considering I never said that, I don't see what the point is.

Wow.. it'll take an actual genius to figure out what the heck you are trying to say.

Firs, it is Melo and CP3, second Dirk had a defensive center (9.8 boards in the finals) on his team and stepped up his game in the playoffs (grabbed 10 boards per game in the finals). As I have been saying, which you continue to miss, it is the team as a whole, not just three players. How you gather that means just CP3 is beyond me.

no team aint winning without a big man and thats the reason why melo came here because of amare. same with cp3. if amare needs them, he should be the one joining them but instead he left nash where the 2 just made it to the conference finals

Amare left because NY was the only team offering him a max deal. He would have stayed with Nash if they offered one. http://probasketballtalk.nbcsports.com/ ... -max-deal/
Melo came to NY, not because of Amare, but because he wanted to play in NY. If he wanted to stay with a team with big men, he would have stayed in Denver. You are right though, "no team ain't winning without a big man" and right now, NY doesn't have a big man. By that I mean, actual post defense.

**** contract and can't play defense, could be said about Amare too. Although I agree, Villanueva is nothing to write home about. He would mainly be spot gap, until a better option can be found, while keeping defenses honest about staying out of the paint to cover him.

Getting a "big three" would also kill the cap. Rip plays a game that will age well and only has two years left on his deal, one if there is a lockout. So that doesn't tie up a lot of salary. Villanueva has one year left after that.

Of course, these trades are all speculation. If the new CBA comes out and NY could sign Paul? Sure, wait, lose another season. And adding Okafor/Paul to Amare/Melo would be ideal, but I don't see that happening.

Amar'e is an elite offensive player that is a good weakside shot blocker; Villanueva is sh*t. Having a big three with Paul, Amar'e, and Melo is worth having a shot cap.

Okafor/Paul, if possible under the new CBA via sign and trade, is much better and is possible if New Orleans is looking to shed salary.

I would even do this trade (works btw) even though it kills our depth.

Paul/Okafor for Billups, Turiaf, Douglas, Balkman, Fields, Walker. Fill out our team with some role players (minimum) and we're solid.

Camby was a great weakside shot blocker, but actually hurt Denver defensively when he was on the court. I don't see NY ever winning without a strong center in the middle, Amare is not that.

I do agree though, if the new CBA allows Okafor/Paul to come in, get it done! Hell, I was even thinking of a trade like that as well.

Never said CP3 was my boy, and wtf, are you high? Are you trying to ask how CP3 is better than Lebron and Wade? Considering I never said that, I don't see what the point is.

because you said that garnett had pierce and allen or duncan had manu and tony but lebron had wade and bosh who are much better big 3 but they lost. so now you think boston and spurs are more stacked than this miami team genius? LOL then why did they lose? yeah they dont have a good frontcourt facing against the best frontcourt. if wade and lebron are better than cp3, do you think he can win a chip when 2 of the top3 combined cant even win?while a top 10 only player but a big man won against them and didnt even play defense. amare and dirk are neck 2 neck as being the best pf until dirk won so i believe this team can win with amare but not with cp3. who do you think is he?JOrdan, the only player that won w/o a big man. amare couldve even went to the finals if he stayed with the suns.
Amare left because NY was the only team offering him a max deal. He would have stayed with Nash if they offered one. http://probasketballtalk.nbcsports.com/ ... -max-deal/

of course he would say that unless he wants to be hated like lebron.
But you ignore the fact that amare already wanted out even before that season. and im sure there are teams who are willing to give amare max but whats the use, new york already offered max so do you think teams can still outbid new york genius?LOL even if they match, amare would still play for new york coz everybody wants to play in the mecca.

Melo came to NY, not because of Amare, but because he wanted to play in NY. If he wanted to stay with a team with big men, he would have stayed in Denver. You are right though, "no team ain't winning without a big man" and right now, NY doesn't have a big man. By that I mean, actual post defense.

well dirk doesnt play d and he won so you fail genius. and melos big men only made it out of the first round once while amare has been to multipleconference finals with no big man on his side unless you count marion as a big man(of course geniuses counts marion as a big man)

Nope, you fail.

Dirk: Held opposing PF's to a PER of 15.7.
Amare: "Held" opposing PF's to a PER of 20.3.

Dirk: Team gave up 6.6 points less when he was on the court.
Amare: Team have up 5.8 more when he was on the court.

For a guy who doesn't play defense, he sure had a much better defensive impact than Amare did.

Wow.. the comment about "melos big men" is so dumb it makes my brain hurt. Basketball is a team game. Try to figure that out and try looking in to the recent history of the Nuggets before speaking about something you have zero knowledge of.

Again, you continue to completely miss the point. I could have named a lot more players on those teams, because they had stronger teams. Spurs also had Bowen and Horry, Celtics also had Perkins, etc. They lost, because there wasn't much of a team, besides them and they had no defensive presence in the post. Do I need to continue to repeat myself or are you starting to get it? I find it weird for someone who seems so slow.. to use genius as an insult. Genius is actually a good thing, if you hadn't known.

LOL you do realize they have chandler right genius?

well melos big men includes camby, the defensive player of the year but still first round exit while having a former mvp in iverson. hows camby's defensive presence doin for denver genius?multiple first round exits and the moment hes gone, they made it to the conference finals while portland now are first round exits. how about ben wallace after being traded to the bulls? have they become contenders while amare can make it to the conference finals with a sf as his pf. this defensive players are really overrated.

so now boston is a stacked team when nobody knows who perkins and rondo is at that time?the reason why they lost is they dont have big man. 2 top 3 players but cant win on a team with injured butler. damn these pgs really are overrated even though they havent won since the 80's LOL. but what can i do, geniuses overrate players who are flashy like vince carter, iverson(i know they are your favorite players too)

Right, compared to you I am a genius. I know Chandler is a center and can't guard both PF and C at the same time. If that is the best "argument" you can make to counter some facts, just give it up and realize Dirk is a much better defender than Amare.

Like I said, don't talk about something you know zero about. You just made yourself look dumb again. Camby is not (as I already mentioned in this thread) a defensive presence. He didn't deserve the award, he was just a stat stuffing whore who hurt Denver's defense. So thanks for bringing up Camby, that actually supported the argument I am making. Denver trades Camby, gets a healthy Nene whose a great post defender and go to the conference finals.

I'm sure all the injuries haven't had any effect on Portland's playoff success. And AI? Seriously, you brought up AI? The dude who was playing keep away with the ball, from the rest of the Denver team.

how about ben wallace after being traded to the bulls? have they become contenders while amare can make it to the conference finals with a sf as his pf. this defensive players are really overrated.

Ben Wallace traded to the Bulls? What's your point? Again, as I keep saying, it is about the team as a whole. Opening day starting line up of PJ Brown (at the end of his career), Deng, Wallace, Ben Gordon (no defense there), and Hinrich. Seriously, you are asking why that team didn't win a Championship? You can't honestly be that dumb.

And how many titles did Amare win with the Suns?

So players no one know about, can't actually be good and serve a strong team role? And now you think I like VC and AI? How does me talking about team and defense mean I like VC and AI?! Seriously, are you freaking 8 years old? My trades may not be good, but so far, all of your "arguments" have been awful.

well having chandler makes players hesitant to score coz of chandlers help. looks like you dont know those kind of stuffs genius and amare can defend if he wants to. youre acting like defense is a skill when only garbage players play those. i can find alot of those in drafts or free agency. if you dont have talent to be an offensive player then you better play defense or youll be out of this league. amare can get max contract with his offense alone. why play defense still?just to increase the chances of being injured?just like what happened to oden, yao, bynum, perkins, chandler and most centers in this league. well only geniuses thinks that way. and chandler was considered a bust and so in order to stay in this league, he decided to be a defensive player willing to sacrifice his body incurring those injuries just to have those huge contracts.

well that conference finals run was lucky and your defensive big man made it only once. they have not faced amares suns and spurs due to injuries. hows nene doing again right now with the much improved nugs?yah first round again by just winning 1 game. LOL

my point is. ben didnt made the bulls contenders with his defense. they didnt made the playoffs. while amare made it. and how many does nene have?oh yeah hes leaving coz denver only won one game as being the hottest team.

because boston at the time they won were considered to not having good supporting casts the same with miami so it all comes down to bostons big 3 and miamis big 3. the fact that miami lost and boston won while miami having the much better big 3 means that perimeter players really are overrated coz wade and bron are considered the top 3 players. and if miami cant win then, how much overrated really is this your boy cp3 is. and oh btw they were 1st team defenders but they lost to a nondefending dirk genius. big men wins in this league not small men. kobe is the only perimeter player that has won in this league the last ten years genius coz i dont consider wades gifted fts as a win

The year before with Dampier at center, Dirk held opposing PF's to a PER of 16.6. Amare last year, 18.8. There goes that theory, it was all because of Chandler.

No, I have not acted that way at all.

amare can get max contract with his offense alone. why play defense still?just to increase the chances of being injured?

Yeah, a guy whose named himself STAT can get a max contract by putting up big offensive stat numbers. But if he wants to win a Championship, he needs to play defense. If you are happy to watch a player score and never win, good for you.

just like what happened to oden, yao, bynum, perkins, chandler and most centers in this league. well only geniuses thinks that way.

No, only morons think centers get injured from playing defense. Bynum has had a team mate fall on his legs a couple of times. Oden is just very injury prone. Yao is just too tall and never got a chance to rest playing for the National team. Something you seem unable to comprehend, is that the human body can't handle being that tall in most cases and breaks down much easier. Defense or no defense.

well that conference finals run was lucky and your defensive big man made it only once. they have not faced amares suns and spurs due to injuries. hows nene doing again right now with the much improved nugs?yah first round again by just winning 1 game. LOL

How many times do I need to repeat it is a team game? Having the defense in the middle is needed, but it is also a team game. You can't possibly be this slow. The last three years, Nuggets make the conference finals, their coach gets cancer and they fall apart, and they trade Melo and get beat by a better team in the playoffs. Nene has played his part, but there are other factors involved besides him.
my point is. ben didnt made the bulls contenders with his defense. they didnt made the playoffs. while amare made it.

Your point is absolutely irrelevant to the discussion. Like I already mentioned, many many times, it is a team game and the Bulls sucked. So of course Ben didn't make them contenders. It is a team game. How many times do I need to repeat that until your tiny little brain figures it out? And Amare did have a better team, but without that presence in the middle, they never won a title.
because boston at the time they won were considered to not having good supporting casts the same with miami so it all comes down to bostons big 3 and miamis big 3.

No it doesn't come down to that. Just because the supporting casts wasn't considered good at first, didn't mean it wasn't. You seem to like repeating things you hear, without thinking for yourself.

This nonsense again? CP3 isn't my boy, and I've been saying building around him and Melo. With Okafor in the middle to anchor the defense, and getting defensive players around them who can shoot. That's how you win. You don't win with big man who don't defend, like Amare. Dirk on the other hand, does play D as has been shown.

And go ahead, keep calling me genius, debating with you actually makes me feel like one.

How come the mods haven't warned or banned the Nats fan? He's clearly baiting users on this forum, but it goes by w/o a comment, while Knick posters get banned from their own forum for same.

Nutty Nats fan is a Knicks fan I believe. And who got banned? But yes, Nats cut the insults or you'll get suspended as well as the other guy.

Yep, I am a Knicks fan. My nick actually comes from a NY team. And my apologies, when a user starts throwing insults, I do usually come back hard at them. Should stop doing that. :) I will fully admit, I am for trading Amare which I know some here are extremely against. I am not baiting, just posting my opinions to make the Knicks a better team.

On that note, another one!

Indy in: Amare
Utah in: Granger
NY in: Milsap, Rush, Okur.

I believe it is possible both Indy and Utah accept those.

Now, before people freak out, hear me out. Milsap is young (26), is a good PF, has range out to three, and is making half of what Amare is. Okur if healthy is DA's wet dream at center, and is an expiring contract. Rush is a good shooter.

Trade leaves NY with Billups, Okaur, and Turief as expiring contracts. If Paul or Dwight want out during the season and demand to go to NY, this gives NY more flexible in getting it done and taking back more salary.

End of the season, only Melo, Milsap, Balkman are under contract. 29.6 million. Renounce everyone and add roster holds of 4.5 million (500k for each, IIRC?) and that is 29.9 million in cap space if the cap is at 65 million like we heard at one point. If new max deals are lowered, might be able to bring in Paul and Dwight, or perhaps trade Mislap in a deal with one of them. Or sign one, pick up Rush's QO, resign Okur at a lower rate, resign Fields, etc and any possible free agents.

So could be Mislap, Melo, Paul, and Dwight or Melo, Paul, and Dwight or Mislap, Melo, Paul/Dwight, + depth.

Seems like a good plan to me? If you can put aside the emotional attachment to Amare. But of course, this all depends on the new CBA so may not work.

this clown is a nuggets fan. hes mad that we got their franchise player and now is trolling. and amare is better than both melo and cp3. just compare their careers. amare got even to the finals coz i consider spurs/suns as the finals. get back to me if cp3 sneaks the conference finals. LOL he wants to be with amare coz this guy is proven. as ive said, defense are for players who dont have talent. if amare is not as good as dirk, how come dirk only advances to the finals when amare is either injured or not anymore in the conference finals. remember the last season, dirk lost to the spurs(a team swept by the suns). so big men not your midget boy chris paul. if pgs are really that impactful, then how come pgs hasnt won the last 20 years.

So can a mod ban this guy, he obviously ignored the warning to cut it out.

You have no idea which teams I am a fan of, nor my history. Figure out which team I refer to by Nats and it will all be clear to you. As for the rest of your nonsense, don't see you commenting on the trade at all or the inclusion of Dwight. So stop trying to bait.

ive seen you posting during the melo rumors in the nuggets board. youre the one trying to bait here. dolan is not trading amare so stop this nonsense. he maybe an idiot but he sticks to his players. this is not 2k11 where you just treat players as toys kid so go back to playing 2k11.
