I really hope we don't sign Arenas. TD, Shumpert and even Bibby are a lot better than Gil for this team.

Do not want Arenas. Dude is a straight up chucker and doesn't approach the game and life with enough seriousness to contribute to a winner.

Davis at least can.

The problem with signing Arenas is that there are only so many spots on the roster and we need depth in the front court.

I don't want to replace TD with Arenas; big drop-off on D.

No offense, but you have to be a moron to want Arenas on this team. We don't need 20 guards.

It's not a low risk at all. Did you not read the article? The guy is constantly a distraction and I'll be damned if we need another ball dominating player on this team. Especially one that isn't as good as he thinks he is.

Seriously, what if dude starts pulling ridiculous stunts during the playoffs thinking it will "relax the atmosphere". We just can't have that.

I'd be really pissed if we signed Arenas. Which means we won't. Grunwald and co. are smarter than that. I doubt D'Antoni or Woodson wanna deal with him either.

We got vets in the locker room to keep Arenas in check.

If you can sign both you simply do it, low risk high reward. People counting on Bibby probably missed last year's playoffs.

It's really low risk high reward, I don't see why not.

We have TD and Shumpert on top of Bibby. Once we get Davis, we have enough guards.

Exactly. You don't bring in a positive force like Tyson Chandler, then take a step back by bringing in a guy like Gilbert Arenas.

This team is a much better fit for Bibby. The Heat had ball handlers/playmakers in James/Wade that nullified his contributions. Plus, Bibby likes to run. Obviously, he isn't the Bibby of old but he should be more effective here. He can be great at setting up Melo/Stat, initiating the break, and hitting threes.

He will be fine as a backup and WE DON'T NEED THAT DOGGONE CANCER GIL!

Arenas himself is a vet. He shouldn't need anybody to keep him in check. That alone is why we shouldn't sign him.

Maybe the bright lights in NY and the many, many national games, and the chance to win, will motivate Arenas?

I actually don't doubt that Arenas could have a bounce back year and probably average like 16 ppg in the right place... but that place is NOT here. Yes we need a PG, but Arenas has proved time after time that he's a SG stuck in a PG's body. Not to mention his best ability is to score (and inefficiently), which while yes it'd be nice to have a 6th man type scorer... I'd rather a defensively capable guy with size (SHUMPERT) get those minutes. I haven't even gotten into his stupidity.

I really, really want Baron. Like by far the best option right now (and I would've taken him over Shawne too)... he fills a need and could be a great addition without getting in the way.

With Baron we could move Toney back to the bench where he belongs (once Baron is healthy and there could be a weening period where BD comes off the bench a few games to get back into it) and keep Shumpert at 6th man.

I like this rotation:
PG: Baron (28)- Douglas (20)- Bibby/Shumpert
SG: Landry (25)- Shumpert (23)- Walker
SF: Melo (36)- Landry (7)- Balkman (5)**
PF: Amar'e (35)- Jefferies/Balkman (13)**- Jorts
C: Chandler (30)- Jorts (18)- Jefferies/Jerome

**We might still add a tweener forward to take those minutes (Posey? Nachbar), but maybe this is the year Balkman doesn't have a coach that hates him and he actually puts in some effort? (or more likely I'm overreacting to a pre-season game).

And it might be a little pre-mature to count on both Jorts and Shumpert for consistent rotation minutes, but I'm so in love with them (especially after yesterday). If Shump struggles then D'Antoni could give some of his back up SG minutes to Douglas.

Arenas would just crowd the back court taking away minutes from Landry, Shumpert and Douglas.

I don't want Arenas anywhere near this team.
PG- Haliburton | Schroder | Sasser
SG- Grimes | Dick | Bogdanovic
SF- Bridges | George
PF- Hunter |Strus| Fleming
C- Turner | Powell | Wiseman

Magic fan here and don't tell nobody but i'm a deep in-closet knick fan too....The thing with Gil is the mental more than anything....Right now he is in good shape lost 15 or 20 pounds since last season and he himself said the knee is structurally fine...He just has to get past that mental block and be confident in the knee to go full strength...I believe Arenas could thrive in Mike's system because Stan Van Gundy's system doesn't really fit Gil's style of play...Gil still has great vision and passing skills...If you can get him cheap why not?
