Larry Sanders

9/11/1/3 blocks / 5 fouls - 16 minutes.

That's a seriously busy statline - dude was on 25 boards per 36 pace.

I want to see lots more Sanders. That guy is made of pure hustle. He just needs to stop shooting those cruddy jumpers, and start making the one easy layup he blows per game.

I was at the game, Sanders played well in the second half. It was when he went out (5 fouls) and Gooden came in, the Knicks made their run almost coming back from like 16 down. Gooden did the opposite of defending the paint.

First half, Sanders was not good. Worst part was the last minute of the half. Skiles was pissed on like the 2nd or 3rd to last offensive position, since Sanders wasn't where he was supposed to be. The ensuing defensive possession was Knick ft's, and Skiles took him aside and talked to him. Then on the last possession, ballhandler on top and 3 guys on the baseline, Sanders around the ft line but supposed to be on the baseline. Skiles and he make eye contact and Skiles yells at him to get to the baseline, then 5 seconds later had to yell again for him then to come up and do a pick and roll.

I figured Bucks fan would like to see this supposedly terrible team embarrass an All Star team in front of a packed house. Your bloodlust for tanking is a joke. We cant tank unless they trade everybody. And in what universe does that make sense? Skiles is getting a bunch of role players without a single legit star to compete with good teams. Remember this team hung with Chicago twice and Orlando numerous times before choking in the last minutes. Its a competitive team that cant finish. They are fun to watch. Tanking now is pointless when the goal is to create excitement.

I don't get this fear of tanking. Its like holding some abstract ideal so highly that you prefer to watch a mediocre team for half a century keeping us in midround hell (too good to get the superstar talent rookies, too bad to compete for a championship) instead of tanking. Why tank? Because tanking gives us the best statistical odds at a game changer. We as a group make a 3-4 year plan and say we will allow that time frame of mediocrity so that the young players we acquire get time to develop and gel. We need to trade everyone we have for young talent, cheap veteran or two and as many quality draft picks as we can get. Lets say we draft a stud like Kyrie that we can build around, we start using our assets to build a team that complements their game. Chances are we will do badly and get another high lottery pick and a chance to add another high impact rookie to the core. They do a little better that year but still in the lottery, we have the chance to add ANOTHER high impact rookie to your core. Now you're going into that following season with a core of 3 young studs locked into contracts for a few years who have had time to gel and learn the NBA game. That's when we start taking teams by storm and we become a contender like the Thunder did. If you're satisfied with mediocre sub .500 8th seed basketball for another 25 years then good for you, but there is no denying that tanking gives us the highest possible odds of building a contender in Milwaukee.
